शीतला सप्तमी, शीतला सातम शीतला अष्टमी
राधा पुआ कई नाम से जाना जाता है।यह पर्व।

शीतला अष्टमी हिन्दुओं का एक त्योहार है जिसमें शीतला
माता के व्रत और पूजन किये जाते हैं। ये होली सम्पन्न होने के अगले सप्ताह में बाद करते हैं। प्रायः शीतला देवी
की पूजा चैत्र मास के कृष्ण पक्ष की अष्टमी तिथि से प्रारंभ होती है, लेकिन कुछ स्थानों पर इनकी पूजा होली
के बाद पड़ने वाले पहले सोमवार अथवा गुरुवार के दिन ही की जाती है। भगवती शीतला की पूजा का विधान भी
विशिष्ट होता है।

शीतलाष्टमी के एक दिन पूर्व उन्हें भोग लगाने के लिए बासी खाने का भोग यानि बसौड़ा तैयार कर लिया जाता है। अष्टमी के दिन बासी पदार्थ ही देवी को नैवेद्य के रूप में समर्पित किया जाता है। और भक्तों के बीच प्रसाद के रूप में वितरित किया जाता है। इस कारण से ही संपूर्ण उत्तर भारत में शीतलाष्टमी त्यौहार, बसौड़ा के नाम से
विख्यात है।ऐसी मान्यता है कि इस दिन के बाद से बासी खाना खाना बंद कर दिया जाता है। ये ऋतु का अंतिम
दिन होता है जब बासी खाना खा सकते हैं।

प्राचीनकाल से ही शीतला माता का बहुत अधिक
माहात्म्य रहा है। स्कंद पुराण में शीतला देवी शीतला
का वाहन गर्दभ बताया है। ये हाथों में कलश, सूप,
मार्जन (झाडू) तथा नीम के पत्ते धारण करती हैं। इन बातों का प्रतीकात्मक महत्व होता है। चेचक का रोगी
व्यग्रतामें वस्त्र उतार देता है। सूप से रोगी को हवा की जाती है, झाडू से चेचक के फोड़े फट जाते हैं। नीम के
पत्ते फोडों को सड़ने नहीं देते।

रोगी को ठंडा जल प्रिय होता है अत:कलश का महत्व है। गर्दभ की लीद के लेपन से चेचक के दाग मिट जाते हैं। शीतला-मंदिरों में प्राय: माता शीतला को गर्दभ पर ही आसीन दिखाया गया है।
स्कन्द पुराण में इनकी अर्चना का स्तोत्र शीतलाष्टक के रूप में प्राप्त होता है। ऐसा माना जाता है कि इस स्तोत्र
की रचना भगवान शंकर ने लोकहित में की थी। शीतलाष्टक शीतला देवी की महिमा गान करता है, साथ
ही उनकी उपासना के लिए भक्तों को प्रेरित भी करता है। शास्त्रों में भगवती शीतला की वंदना के लिए यह मंत्र
बताया गया है:-

वन्देऽहंशीतलांदेवीं रासभस्थांदिगम्बराम्।।
मार्जनीकलशोपेतां सूर्पालंकृतमस्तकाम्।।

अर्थात:-
गर्दभ पर विराजमान, दिगम्बरा, हाथ में झाडू तथा कलश
धारण करने वाली, सूप से अलंकृत मस्तकवालीभगवती शीतला की मैं वंदना करता हूं। शीतला माता के इस वंदना
मंत्र से यह पूर्णत:स्पष्ट हो जाता है कि ये स्वच्छता की अधिष्ठात्री देवी हैं। हाथ में मार्जनी [झाडू] होने का अर्थ है
कि हम लोगों को भी सफाई के प्रति जागरूक होना चाहिए। कलश से हमारा तात्पर्य है कि स्वच्छता रहने पर
ही स्वास्थ्य रूपी समृद्धि आती है।

मान्यता अनुसार इस व्रत को करने से शीतला देवी प्रसन्‍न
होती हैं और व्रती के कुल में दाहज्वर, पीतज्वर, विस्फोटक, दुर्गन्धयुक्त फोडे, नेत्रों के समस्त रोग, शीतला
की फुंसियों के चिन्ह तथा शीतला जनित दोष दूर हो जाते हैं। क्यों मनाते हैं बसौड़ा पर्व? **********

बसौड़ा, शीतलता का पर्व भारतीय सनातन परंपरा के अनुसार महिलाएं अपने बच्चों की सलामती, आरोग्यता व घर में सुख-शांति के लिए रंगपंचमी से अष्टमी तक मां
शीतला को बसौड़ा बनाकर पूजती हैं। बसौड़ा में मीठे चावल, कढ़ी, चने की दाल, हलवा, रबड़ी, बिना नमक की पूड़ी, पूए आदि एक दिन पहले ही रात में बनाकर रख लिए जाते हैं।सुबह घर व मंदिर में माता की पूजा-अर्चना कर महिलाएं शीतला माता को बसौड़ा का प्रसाद चढ़ाती हैं। पूजा करने के बाद घर की महिलाएं बसौड़ा का प्रसाद अपने परिवार में बांट कर सभी के साथ मिलजुल कर बासी भोजन ग्रहण करके माता का आशीर्वाद लेती हैं।
