वनवास के दौरान माता सीताजी को पानी की प्यास लगी, तभी श्री रामजी ने चारों ओर देखा तो उनको दूर-दूर तक जंगल ही जंगल दिख रहा था। जंगल से प्रार्थना कि, ‘हे जंगलजी आसपास जहाँ कही पानी हो वहाँ जाने का मार्ग कृपया सुझाईये। तभी वहाँ एक मयूर ने आ कर श्री रामजी से कहा कि आगे थोड़ी दूर पर एक जलाशय है। चलिए मैं आपका मार्ग पथ प्रदर्शक बनता हूँ। किंतु मार्ग में हमारी भूल चूक होने की संभावना है। श्री रामजी ने पूछा वह क्यों ? तब मयूर ने उत्तर दिया कि मैं उड़ता हुआ जाऊँगा और आप चलते हुए आयेंगे। इसलिए मार्ग में मैं अपना एक एक पंख बिखेरता हुआ जाऊँगा। उस के सहारे आप जलाशय तक पहुँच ही जाओगे।
यह बात को हम सभी जानते हैं कि मयूर के पंख, एक विशेष समय एवं एक विशेष ऋतु में ही बिखरते हैं। अगर वह अपनी इच्छा विरुद्ध पंखों को बिखेरेगा तो उसकी मृत्यु हो जाती है। वही हुआ। अंत में जब मयूर अपनी अंतिम सांस ले रहा होता है… उसने कहा कि वह कितना भाग्यशाली है की जो जगत की प्यास बुझाते हैं ऐसे प्रभु की प्यास बुझाने का उसे सौभाग्य प्राप्त हुआ। मेरा जीवन धन्य हो गया। अब मेरी कोई भी इच्छा शेष नहीं रही। तभी भगवान श्री राम ने मयूर से कहा की, मेरे लिए तुमने जो मयूर पंख बिखेरकर, मुझ पर जो ऋणानुबंध चढ़ाया है, मैं उस ऋण को अगले जन्म में जरूर चुकाऊँगा। मेरे सर पर आपको चढ़ाकर।
तत्पश्चात अगले जन्म में श्री कृष्ण अवतार में उन्होंने अपने माथे पर मयूर पंख को धारण कर वचन अनुसार उस मयूर का ऋण उतारा था।
तात्पर्य यही है कि अगर भगवान को ऋण उतारने के लिए पुनः जन्म लेना पड़ता है, तो हम तो मानव है। न जाने हम तो कितने ही ऋणानुबंध से बंधे हैं। उसे उतारने के लिए हमें तो कई जन्म भी कम पड़ जायेंगे।
अर्थात अपना जो भी भला हम कर सकते हैं इसी जन्म में हमे करना है। ऋणानुबंध से मुक्ति पाने हेतु आत्मसाक्षात्कार द्वारा ध्यान मार्ग अपनाकर, श्री योगेश्वर के मध्यमार्ग द्वारा श्री सदाशिव में विलीन हो जायें एवं मोक्ष पाकर सभी ऋणनुबंध से मुक्ति पायें।
During the exile, Mata Sitaji felt thirsty for water, when Shri Ramji looked around, he could see the forest far and wide. Praying to the forest, ‘O Jungleji, please suggest the way to go wherever there is water around. Then a peacock came there and told Shri Ramji that there is a reservoir a little further away. Therefore, I will go on the way spreading my wings. With the help of that you will reach the reservoir. We all know that the feathers of a peacock shed at a particular time and in a particular season. If he spreads his wings against his will, he dies. That’s what happened. Finally when the peacock is taking his last breath… he said how fortunate he is to have had the privilege of quenching the thirst of the Lord who quenches the thirst of the world. My life has been blessed. Now I have no desire left. Then Lord Shri Ram said to the peacock that by spreading peacock feathers for me, the debt bond that you have bestowed on me, I will definitely repay that debt in the next life. Putting you on my head. After that, in the next birth, in Shri Krishna avatar, he took the peacock feather on his forehead and took the debt of that peacock according to the promise. This means that if God has to take birth again to pay off the debt, then we are human. Don’t know how many of us are bound by debt bondage. It will take us many births to bring it down. That is, whatever good we can do for ourselves, we have to do in this birth. To get rid of the bondage of debt, by adopting the path of meditation through self-realization, through the middle path of Shri Yogeshwar, merge with Shri Sadashiv and after attaining salvation, get rid of all debt-contrast.
