दरिद्र कौन है

एक बारकी बात है। एक संतके पास एक धनवान्ने रुपयोंकी थैली खोलकर उसे स्वीकार करनेकी प्रार्थना की। संतने उत्तर दिया ‘अत्यन्त निर्धन और दरिद्रका धन मैं स्वीकार नहीं करता।’

‘पर मैं तो धनवान् हूँ। लाखों रुपये मेरे पास हैं। ‘ मुदितमन धनवान्ने उत्तर दिया।’धनकी और कामना तुम्हें है या नहीं ?’ संतने प्रश्न किया। ‘अवश्य है।’ धनवान्ने संतके सम्मुख मिथ्याभाषण नहीं किया।

‘जिन्हें धनकी कामना है, उन्हें रात-दिन धन संचयकी चिन्ता रहती है। धनके लिये नाना प्रकारके अपकर्म करने पड़ते हैं। उनके जैसा कोई दरिद्र नहीं।’ धनवान् धनसहित वापस लौट गया। – शि0 दु0

Once upon a time. A rich man opened a bag of money near a saint and prayed to accept it. The saint replied ‘I do not accept the money of the very poor and destitute.’
‘But I am rich. I have lakhs of rupees. Muditman Dhanvanne replied. ‘Do you have any more desire for wealth or not?’ The saint asked a question. ‘Sure.’ Dhanvanne did not speak falsely in front of the saint.
Those who have a desire for money, they are worried day and night about the accumulation of money. Many types of misdeeds have to be done for money. No one is as poor as him. The rich man returned with the money. – Shi0 Du0
