मर्यादाके त्यागसे अपमान
एक जगह बहुत-से मोरके पंख पड़े हुए थे। एक कौएने उन्हें देखकर मन-ही-मन सोचा-यदि मैं इन मौरके पंखोंको अपने पंखोंपर लगा लूँ, तो मैं भी मोरके समान ही सुन्दर दीखने लगूँगा। यह सोचकर कौवने उन्हें अपने पंखोंपर लगा लिया और अन्य कौवोंके पास जाकर कहने लगा- ‘तुमलोग बड़े नीच और कुरूप हो मैं अब तुम लोगोंके साथ नहीं रहूंगा। यह कहकर वह मोरोंकी टोलीमें सम्मिलित होने चला
मोरोंने उसे देखते ही पहचान लिया कि यह कौआ है। इसके बाद सभी मोरोंने मिलकर उसके पंखोंसे एक एक मोर पंख नोच लिये और उसे अत्यन्त मूर्ख ठहराकर उसपर प्रहार करने लगे। कौआ परेशान हो गया और उसने भागकर अपनी जान बचायो।
इसके बाद वह फिर अपनी टोलीमें शामिल होने गया। इसपर दूसरे कौवोंने उसकी हँसी उड़ाते हुए कहा, “अरे मूर्ख तू मोरकि पंख पाकर अहंकारमें उन्मत्त हो हम लोगों से घृणा करके और गालियाँ देते हुए मोरोंके दलमें शामिल होने गया था वहाँसे अपमानित होकर अब तू फिर हमारी टोलीमें मिलने आया है। तू तो वडा ही नीच और निर्लज है।
इस प्रकार उसका तिरस्कार करते हुए उन लोगोंने उस मूर्ख कौवेको भगा दिया।
मनुष्य यदि दूसरोंकी नकलका प्रयास छोड़कर अपने गुण-अवगुण जानकर अपनी अवस्थासे सन्तुष्ट रहे अपनी मर्यादामें रहे तो उसे किसीके सामने अपमानित नहीं होना पड़ता। जो अपनोंका अपमान करता है उसे अपनों और पराया दोनोंसे अपमानित होना पड़ता है।

Thinking of this, the crows put them on their wings and went to other crows and said – ‘You people are very vile and ugly, I will not be with you anymore. Saying this he went to join the group of peacocks.
The peacocks recognized it as soon as they saw it that it was a crow. After this, all the peacocks together plucked one peacock feather from his feathers and started attacking him considering him very foolish. The crow got upset and saved his life by running away.
After this he again went to join his group. On this, the other crows laughed at him and said, “O fool, you are mad with pride after getting peacock feathers, hating and abusing us, you had gone to join the group of peacocks, being humiliated from there, now you have come to join our group again. You are just wada. Is mean and shameless.
Disregarding him in this way, they chased away that foolish crow.
If a man stops trying to imitate others, knowing his merits and demerits, remains satisfied with his condition and remains within his dignity, then he does not have to be humiliated in front of anyone. The one who insults his own has to be insulted by both his own and strangers.
