अच्छा पैसा ही अच्छे काममें लगता है
अबुल अब्बास ईश्वर-विश्वासी त्यागी महात्मा थे; वे किसीसे भीख नहीं माँगते, टोपी सीकर अपना गुजारा करते। एक टोपीकी कीमत सिर्फ दो पैसे लेते। इनमेंसे, जो याचक पहले मिलता, उसे एक पैसा दे देते। बचे हुए एक पैसेसे पेट भरते। इस प्रकार जबतक दोनों पैसे बरत नहीं लिये जाते, तबतक नयी टोपी नहीं सीते। भजन ही करते रहते।
इनका एक धनी शिष्य था, उसके पास धर्मादेकी निकाली हुई कुछ रकम थी। उसने एक दिन पूछा, ‘भगवन् ! मैं किसको दान करूँ ?’ महात्माने कहा ‘जिसे सुपात्र समझो, उसीको दान करो।’ शिष्यने रास्ते में एक गरीब अन्धेको देखा और उसे सुपात्र समझकर एक
सोनेकी मोहर दे दी। दूसरे दिन उसी रास्तेसे शिष्य फिर निकला। पहले दिनवाला अन्धा दूसरे अन्धेसे कह रहा था कि ‘कल एक आदमीने मुझको एक सोनेकी मोहर दी थी, मैंने उससे खूब शराब पी और रातको अमुक ‘वेश्याके यहाँ गया।’
शिष्यको यह सुनकर बड़ा खेद हुआ। उसने महात्माके पास आकर सारा हाल कहा। महात्मा उसके हाथमें एक पैसा देकर बोले-‘जा, जो सबसे पहले मिले उसीको पैसा दे देना और फिर देखना कि वह क्या करता है!’ यह पैसा टोपी सीकर कमाया हुआ था।
शिष्य पैसा लेकर निकला, उसे एक मनुष्य मिला: उसने उसको पैसा दे दिया और उसके पीछे-पीछे चलना शुरू किया। वह मनुष्य एक निर्जन स्थानमें गया और उसने अपने कपड़ोंमें छिपाये हुए एक मरे पक्षीको निकालकर फेंक दिया। शिष्यने उससे पूछा कि ‘तुमने मरे हुए पक्षीको कपड़ों में क्यों छिपाया था और अब क्यों निकालकर फेंक दिया ?’ उसने कहा- आज सात दिनसे मेरे कुटुम्बको दाना-पानी नहीं मिला। भीख माँगना मुझे पसन्द नहीं; आज इस जगह मरे पक्षीको पड़ा देख मैंने लाचार होकर अपनी और परिवारकी भूख मिटानेके लिये इसे उठा लिया था और इसे लेकर मैं घर जा रहा था। आपने मुझे बिना माँगे ही पैसा दे दिया, इसलिये अब मुझे इस मरे पक्षीकी जरूरत नहीं रही। अतएव जहाँसे उठाया था, वहीं लाकर डाल दिया।
शिष्यको उसकी बात सुनकर बड़ा अचरज
हुआ। उसने महात्माके पास जाकर सारा वृत्तान्त कहा। महात्मा बोले- ‘यह स्पष्ट है कि तुमने दुराचारियोंके साथ मिलकर अन्यायपूर्वक धन कमाया होगा, इसीसे उस धनका दान दुराचारी अन्धेको दिया गया और उसने उससे सुरापान और वेश्यागमन किया। मेरे न्यायपूर्वक कमाये हुए एक पैसेने एक कुटुम्बको निषिद्ध आहारसे बचा लिया। ऐसा होना स्वाभाविक ही है। अच्छा पैसा ही अच्छे काममें लगता है।’
good money goes to good work
Abul Abbas was a God-believing ascetic; They don’t beg from anyone, they earn their living by sewing caps. The cost of a cap would have been taken only two paise. Out of these, he would have given one paisa to the petitioner who got it first. He used to fill his stomach with the remaining one penny. In this way, until both the money is spent, the new cap is not stitched. He used to do hymns.
He had a rich disciple, he had some amount withdrawn from charity. He asked one day, ‘ God! To whom should I donate? Mahatma said, ‘Donate whomever you consider worthy.’ The disciple saw a poor blind man on the way and considering him worthy
Gave a gold stamp. On the second day, the disciple came out again by the same route. The blind man on the first day was saying to the other blind man, ‘Yesterday a man gave me a gold stamp, I drank a lot of wine from him and went to a certain ‘prostitute’ at night.’
The disciple was very sorry to hear this. He came to Mahatma and told the whole situation. The Mahatma gave a penny in his hand and said – ‘Go, give the money to the first person you meet and then see what he does!’ This money was earned by cap-seeker.
The disciple went out with the money, he found a man: he gave him the money and started following him. The man went to a deserted place and took out a dead bird hidden in his clothes and threw it away. The disciple asked him, ‘Why did you hide the dead bird in your clothes and now why did you throw it out?’ He said – For seven days today my family did not get food and water. I do not like begging; Today, seeing the dead bird lying at this place, I picked it up out of helplessness to satisfy my and my family’s hunger and I was going home with it. You gave me money without asking, so now I don’t need this dead bird anymore. That’s why brought it back from where it was picked up and put it there.
The disciples were very surprised to hear his words.
Happened. He went to the Mahatma and told the whole story. Mahatma said- ‘It is clear that you must have earned money unjustly by association with the miscreants, that is why that money was donated to the miscreant blind and he drank alcohol and prostituted with it. My justly earned money saved a family from forbidden food. It is natural for this to happen. Good money is used for good work.
