मैं ही क्यों ?

अमेरिकाके महान् टेनिस खिलाड़ी आर्थर ऐशको 1983 ई0 में हृदयकी सर्जरीके दौरान गलतीसे एड्स विषाणुसे संक्रमित खून चढ़ा दिया गया था, जिसके कारण वे एड्स रोगकी चपेटमें आ गये और मृत्युशय्यापर थे। दुनियाभरसे उनके चाहनेवाले उन्हें पत्र लिख रहे थे। उनमेंसे ज्यादातर लोग आर्थर ऐशसे पूछ रहे थे ‘भगवान्ने आपको ही इतना भयानक रोग क्यों दे दिया ?’
इसके जवाबमें आर्थर ऐशने लिखा-‘पूरी दुनियामें 5 करोड़ बच्चे टेनिस खेलते हैं, 50 लाख बच्चे टेनिस सीख जाते हैं, 5 लाख बच्चे प्रोफेशनल टेनिस खेल पाते हैं, उनमेंसे 50000 टीममें जगह पाते हैं, 500 ग्रैण्ड स्लैममें भाग लेते हैं, 50 विम्बलडनतक पहुँचते हैं, 4 सेमीफाइनल खेलते हैं, 2 को फाइनल खेलनेका मौका मिलता है। जब मैंने विम्बलडनका पदक अपने हाथोंमें थामा, तब मैंने भगवान् से यह नहीं पूछा- मैं ही क्यों ?’
‘और आज इस असह्य दर्दमें भी मैं भगवान्से नहीं पूछूंगा मैं ही क्यों ?’
सुखको ही नहीं, दुःखको भी भगवत्प्रसाद मानकर स्वीकार करनेवाला ही सच्चा आस्तिक है।
आर्थर ऐश जूनियर (10 जुलाई, 1943 -6 फरवरी 1993) अफ्रीकन-अमेरिकन टेनिस प्लेयर थे। उन्होंने तीन ग्रैण्ड स्लैम पदक जीते, उन्हें सामाजिक योगदानके लिये भी याद किया जाता है।

Why only me?
America’s great tennis player Arthur Ash was accidentally transfused with AIDS virus-infected blood during heart surgery in 1983, due to which he fell prey to AIDS and was on his deathbed. His fans from all over the world were writing letters to him. Most of them were asking Arthur Ashe ‘Why did God give you such a terrible disease?’
In response to this, Arthur Ash wrote – ‘All over the world 50 million children play tennis, 50 million children learn tennis, 500,000 children play professional tennis, 50,000 of them get a place in the team, 500 participate in Grand Slams, 50 reach Wimbledon. 4 play the semi-finals, 2 get a chance to play the final. When I held the Wimbledon medal in my hands, I did not ask God – why me?’
‘And today even in this unbearable pain, I will not ask God why me?’
The one who accepts not only happiness but also sorrow considering it as Bhagavatprasad is a true believer.
Arthur Ashe Jr. (July 10, 1943 – February 6, 1993) was an African-American tennis player. He won three Grand Slam medals, he is also remembered for his social contribution.
