ईश्वर हृदयमें रहते हैं
सन्त राबिया एक दिन सुबह-सुबह अपने घरके बाहर कुछ ढूँढ़ रही थीं। जब उन्हें ऐसा करते बहुत देर हो गयी, तब लोगोंने पूछा- क्या ढूँढ़ रही हो राबिया ? उन्होंने कहा, ‘मेरी सूई खो गयी है, उसे ही खोज रही हूँ।’ लोग बोले ‘सूई सड़कपर कैसे गिरी ?’ राबियाने उत्तर दिया- ‘यह तो पता नहीं। मैं कल भीतर बैठी कपड़ा सिल रही थी, तभी वहाँ गिर गयी। मेरे पास एक ही सूई थी, इसलिये परेशान हूँ।’ लोग चौंके और पूछा- ‘जब सूई घरके अन्दर गिरी है, तब उसे बाहर क्यों खोज रही हो ?’ राविया तत्काल बोर्ली——चूँकि यहाँ रोशनी है, घरके भीतर तो अँधेरा है।’ लोग झल्लाये-‘चीज जहाँ खोयी होती है, उसे वहाँ ही खोजा जा सकता है, दूसरी जगह नहीं। तुम्हें इतनी-सी बात नहीं मालूम।’
राबिया हँसी और बोलीं- ऐसा तो मैंने तुमसे ही सीखा है। तुम भी तो अल्लाहको बाहर ही तलाशते रहते हो, जबकि उसका ठिकाना दिलमें है।

god lives in the heart
Saint Rabia was searching for something outside her house early in the morning. When it was too late for them to do so, people asked – what are you looking for Rabia? He said, ‘I have lost my needle, I am looking for it.’ People said ‘How did the needle fall on the road?’ Rabia replied- ‘It is not known. Yesterday I was sewing clothes sitting inside, then I fell there. I had only one needle, so I am worried.’ People were startled and asked- ‘When the needle has fallen inside the house, then why are you searching for it outside?’ Raviya immediately borli– Since there is light here, it is dark inside the house.’ People got upset – ‘Where the thing is lost, it can be searched there only, not in any other place. You don’t know that much.’
Rabia laughed and said – I have learned this from you only. You too keep on searching for Allah outside, while his abode is in the heart.
