[भज] निताई-गौर राधेश्याम [जप] हरेकृष्ण हरेराम
श्रीनृसिंहावेश
किं किं सिंहस्ततः किं नरसदृशवपुर्देव चित्रं गृहीतो
नैतादृक् क्वापि जीवोऽद्भुतमुपनय मे देव संप्राप्त एषः।
चापं चापं न चापीत्यहहहहहा कर्कशत्वं नखाना-
मित्थं दैत्येन्द्रवक्षः खरनखमुखरैर्जघ्निवान् यः स नोऽव्यात्।।
श्रीवास पण्डित नृसिंह भगवान के उपासक थे, वे अपने पूजागृह में बैठे हुए भक्तिभाव से नृसिंह भगवान का विधिवत पूजन कर रहे थे। इतने ही में उन्हें अपने घर के किवाड़ों पर जोर से खट-खट की आवाज सुनायी पड़ी, मानो कोई जोरों के साथ किवाड़ों को खड़खड़ा रहा हो। श्रीवास का ध्यान भंग हुआ। वे डर-से गये कि किवाड़ों को इतने जोर से कौन खड़खड़ा रहा है। उन्होंने पूछा- ‘कौन है?’ बाहर से आवाज आयी- ‘जिसका तुम पूजन कर रहे हो, जिसे अब तक अप्रत्यक्ष मानकर पूजा करते थे, उसे प्रत्यक्ष देख लो।’ यह सुनकर श्रीवास पण्डित कुछ सिटपिटा-से गये और उन्होंने डरते-डरते किवाड़ खोले। इतने में ही श्रीवास क्या देखते हैं कि अद्भुत रूप-लावण्य से युक्त शचीनन्दन श्रीविश्वम्भर निर्भय भाव से पूजागृह में चले जा रहे हैं। वे जाते ही पूजा के सिंहासन पर विराजमान हो गये।
श्रीवास पण्डित को ऐसा प्रतीत हुआ कि साक्षात विष्णु भगवान विश्वम्भर के रूप में प्रकट हुए हैं, उनके चार हाथों में शंख, चक्र, गदा और पद्म सुशोभित हो रहे हैं, गले में वैजयन्ती माला पड़ी हुई है, एक बड़े भारी मत्त सिंह की भाँति बार-बार हुंकार कर रहे हैं। श्रीवास प्रभु के ऐसे भयंकर रूप को देखकर भयभीत-से हो गये। भगवान के सिंहासन पर बैठे प्रभु घोर गम्भीर स्वर से सिंह की भाँति दहाड़ते हुए कहने लगे- ‘श्रीवास! अभी तक तुमने हमें पहचाना नहीं। नाड़ा (अद्वैताचार्य) तो हमारी परीक्षा करने के ही निमित्त शान्तिपुर चले गये। तुम्हें किसी प्रकार का भय न करना चाहिये। हम एक-एक दुष्ट का विनाश करेंगे। भक्तों को कष्ट पहुँचाने वाला कोई भी दुष्ट हमारे सामने बच न सकेगा। तुम घबड़ाओं नहीं। शान्त-चित्त से हमारी स्तुति करो।’ प्रभु के इस प्रकार आश्वासन देने पर श्रीवास पण्डित कुछ देर बाद प्रेम में विह्वल होकर गद्गद-कण्ठ से स्तुति करने लगे-
नौमीडय तेऽभ्रवपुषे तडिदम्बराय
गुंजावतंसपरिपिच्छलसन्मुखाय।
वन्यस्त्रजे कवलवेत्रविषाणवेणु-
लक्ष्मश्रिये मृदुपदे पशुपांगजाय।।[2]
इस श्लोक को पढ़ने के अनन्तर वे दीनभाव से कहने लगे- ‘विश्वम्भर की जय हो, विश्वरूप अग्रज की जय हो, शचीनन्दन की जय हो, जगन्नाथप्रिय की जय हो, गौरसुन्दर की जय हो, मदनमोहन की जय हो, नृसिंहभयभंजन प्रभु की जय हो!
इतने दिनों से मैं अज्ञानान्धकार में इधर-उधर भटक रहा था। आज गुरुरूप से प्रभु साक्षात आपके दर्शन हुए। आज आपने अपना असली स्वरूप प्रकट करके मुझ पामर प्राणी को परम पावन बना दिया। आप ही ब्रह्मा हैं, आप ही विष्णु हैं, आप ही शिव हैं। सृष्टि के आदिकारण आप ही हैं। आपकी जय हो!’
श्रीवास के इस प्रकार स्तोत्र-पाठ करने पर प्रभु ने उन्हें आज्ञा दी कि ‘तुम अपने सम्पूर्ण परिवार के सहित हमारी पूजा करो और हमसे मनोवांछित वरदान माँगो।’ प्रभु की आज्ञा शिरोधार्य करके श्रीवास पण्डित ने अपने घर की सम्पूर्ण स्त्रियों को, बाल-बच्चे तथा दास-दासियों को एकत्रित किया और सभी मिलकर आनन्द तथा उल्लास के साथ प्रभु की पूजा करने के लिये उद्यत हो गये। पिता के समान पूज्य और वृद्ध श्रीवास पण्डित इस बात को बिलकुल भूल ही गये कि ये हमारे मित्र पण्डित जगन्नाथ मिश्र के छोटे पुत्र हैं, जिन्हें हमने गोदी में खिलाया है और जो हमारा सदा पिता के समान सम्मान करते हैं। उस समय उन्हें यह पूर्ण भाव हो गया थाकि साक्षात नृसिंह भगवान ही प्रकट हुए हैं। इसीलिये विष्णु की पूजा के निमित्त जितनी सामग्री एकत्रित की थी, वह सब-की-सब प्रभु की पूजा में लगा दी। श्रीवास के घर की स्त्रियों ने अपने-अपने हाथों से प्रभु के गले में मालाएँ पहनायीं उनके मस्तक के ऊपर पुष्प चढ़ाये और उन्हें साष्टांग प्रणाम किया। प्रभु ने भी उनके मस्तकों पर अपना चरण रखकर उन्हें आशीर्वाद दिया- ‘तुम सबकी हममें भक्ति हो।’ इस प्रकार सभी ने मिलकर भक्तिभाव के साथ प्रभु का पूजन किया।
इसके अनन्तर जोरों से हुंकार करते हुए प्रभु ने गम्भीर स्वर में कहा- ‘श्रीवास! तुम्हें चिन्ता नहीं करनी चाहिये। तुम अनन्य भाव से हमारा ही तो स्मरण-कीर्तन करते हो, फिर डर की क्या बात? बादशाह की क्या ताकत है जो हमारे विरुद्ध कुछ कर सकेगा? यदि वैष्णवों को पकड़ने के लिये नाव आवेगी तो सबसे पहले नाव में हम ही चढ़ेंगे और जाकर बादशाह से कहेंगे कि तुमने कीर्तन रोकने की आज्ञा दी है? यदि काजियों के कहने से तुमने ऐसा किया है तो उन्हें यहाँ बुलाओ और वे अपने शास्त्र के विश्वास के अनुसार प्रार्थना करके सभी से ‘अल्लाह’ या ‘खुदा’ कहलवावें। नहीं तो हम सभी हिन्दू, यवन, पशु-पक्षी आदि जीवों से ‘कृष्ण-कृष्ण’ कहलाते हैं।
इस प्रकार सभी जीवों के मुख से श्रीकृष्ण-कीर्तन कराकर हम संकीर्तन का महत्त्व प्रकाशित करेंगे और यवनों से भी कृष्ण कहलायेंगे। यदि इतने पर भी वह न मानेगा तो हम उसका संहार करेंगे। तुम किसी बात की चिन्ता मत करो, निर्भय रहो। हम तुम्हें अभी बताते हैं कि यह सब किस प्रकार हो सकेगा।’ इतना कहकर प्रभु ने श्रीवास पण्डित की भतीजी को अपने पास बुलाया। उसका नाम नारायणी था, उसकी अवस्था लगभग चार वर्ष की होगी।
प्रभु ने उसे अपने पास बुलाकर कहा- ‘बेटी! नारायणी! तुम श्रीकृष्ण-प्रेम में उन्मत्त होकर रुदन तो करो! बस, इतना सुनना था कि वह चार वर्ष की बालिका श्रीकृष्ण-प्रेम में मूर्च्छित होकर गिर पड़ी और जोरों से ‘हा कृष्ण! हा कृष्ण!!’ कहकर रुदन करने लगी। उसके इस प्रकार रुदन को सुनकर सभी स्त्री-पुरुष आश्चर्यसागर मं गोते खाने लगे। सभी की आँखों से आँसू बहने लगे।
हँसते-हँसते प्रभु ने कहा- ‘इसी प्रकार हम सबसे कृष्ण-कीर्तन करायेंगे।’ इस प्रकार श्रीवास को आश्वासन देकर प्रभु मूर्च्छित होकर पृथ्वी पर गिर पड़े और बहुत देर के अनन्तर होश में आये। होश में आने पर आप आश्चर्य के साथ इधर-उधर देखने लगे अैर बोले- ‘पण्डित जी! मैं यहाँ कैसे आ गया? मैंने कोई चपलता तो नहीं कर डाली? आप तो मेरे पिता के समान हैं, मेरे सभी अपराधों को आप सदा से क्षमा करते आये हैं। यदि मुझसे कोई चपलता हो भी गयी हो तो उसे क्षमा कर दीजियेगा। मुझे कुछ भी मालूम नहीं है कि मैं यहाँ कैसे आया और मैंने क्या-क्या कहा?’
प्रभु की इस प्रकार भोली-भाली बातें सुनकर श्रीवास पण्डित ने विनीत भाव से कहा- ‘प्रभु! मुझे चिरकाल तक भ्रम में रखा, अब फिर से मुझे भ्रम में न डालिये, मेरी अब छलना न कीजिये। अब तो मुझे आपका सतस्वरूप मालूम पड़ गया है, आपके चरणों में इसी प्रकार अनुराग बना रहे। ऐसा आशीर्वाद दीजिये।’ श्रीवास के ऐसा कहने पर प्रभु मन-ही-मन प्रसन्न हुए और कुछ लजाते हुए-से अपने घर की ओर चले गये।

What a lion and then what a human-like body O god pictured There is no creature like this anywhere Bring me this wonderful God who has come. The bow is the bow and not the bow. May he who thus struck the chest of the lord of the demons with his axes, nails and mouths protect us.
Shrivas Pandit was a worshiper of Lord Narasimha, he was worshiping Lord Narasimha with devotion while sitting in his worship house. In the meantime, he heard a loud knocking sound on the doors of his house, as if someone was banging on the doors loudly. Shrivas got distracted. They went in fear as to who was rattling the doors so loudly. He asked- ‘Who is it?’ A voice came from outside- ‘The one whom you are worshipping, whom till now you used to worship indirectly, see him directly.’ Hearing this, Shrivas Pandit was a little upset and he Open the door In the meantime, what did Shrivas see that Shachinandan Shri Vishwambhar with amazing beauty and elegance is going to the worship house fearlessly. As soon as he left, he sat on the throne of worship. It appeared to Shrivas Pandita that Vishnu has appeared in the form of Lord Vishwambhar, conch, chakra, mace and lotus are being decorated in his four hands, Vaijayanti garland is lying around his neck, like a big heavy lion. Shouting again and again. Shrivas was horrified to see such a fierce form of the Lord. The Lord sitting on the throne of God started saying in a very serious voice, roaring like a lion – ‘Shrivas! You haven’t recognized us yet. Nada (Advaitacharya) went to Shantipur just to test us. You should not have any kind of fear. We will destroy each and every evil person. No evil person who harms the devotees will be able to escape before us. You don’t panic Praise us with a calm mind.’ After some time after the assurance of the Lord, Shrivas Pandit started singing praises out of love –
O worship thee, O lightning-clad, O cloud-bearing one Gunjavatansaparipichchalasanmukhaya. Vanyastraje kavalavetravishanavenu- O soft-footed beauty of Lakshmi, O pashupangajaya.
After reciting this verse, he began to humbly say – ‘Victory to Vishwambhar, hail Vishwaroop Agraj, hail Sachinandan, hail Jagannathpriya, hail Gaursundar, hail Madanmohan, hail Nrisinghbhaybhanjan Prabhu!
For so many days I was wandering here and there in the darkness of ignorance. Today I saw you personally in the form of Guru. Today, by revealing your true form, you have made me a palmer creature the most pure. You are Brahma, you are Vishnu, you are Shiva. You are the original cause of the universe. Hail to you!’
On Shrivas reciting hymns in this way, the Lord ordered him to ‘worship us along with your entire family and ask for the desired boon from us.’ By obeying the Lord’s orders, Shrivas Pandit blessed all the women, children and children of his house. And gathered the maids and servants and all together got ready to worship the Lord with joy and gaiety. Respected like a father and old Shrivas Pandit completely forgot that he is the younger son of our friend Pandit Jagannath Mishra, whom we have fed in our lap and who always respects us like a father. At that time he had a complete feeling that Lord Narasimha has appeared in person. That’s why all the material that was collected for the worship of Vishnu, he used all of it in the worship of the Lord. The women of Srivas’s house put garlands around the Lord’s neck with their own hands, offered flowers on his head and prostrated before him. The Lord also blessed them by placing His feet on their heads – ‘You all have devotion in us.’ In this way everyone together worshiped the Lord with devotion.
After this, shouting loudly, the Lord said in a serious voice – ‘Shrivas! You shouldn’t worry. You do our remembrance and kirtan with exclusive spirit, then what is the point of fear? What is the power of the king who can do anything against us? If a boat comes to catch the Vaishnavas, then we will be the first to board the boat and go and tell the king that you have given permission to stop the kirtan? If you have done this on the advice of the Qazis, then call them here and they should pray according to the belief of their scriptures and make everyone say ‘Allah’ or ‘Khuda’. Otherwise, we are called ‘Krishna-Krishna’ by all Hindus, Yavanas, animals and birds etc.
In this way, by getting Shri Krishna-Kirtan from the mouth of all living beings, we will reveal the importance of Sankirtan and will be called Krishna even by youths. If he does not agree even after this, we will kill him. Don’t worry about anything, be fearless. We will tell you now how all this will be possible.’ Having said this, the Lord called Shrivas Pandit’s niece to him. Her name was Narayani, she would be about four years old.
The Lord called her to him and said – ‘Daughter! Narayani! At least cry madly in love for Shri Krishna! All I had to hear was that the four-year-old girl fell unconscious in the love of Shri Krishna and shouted ‘Ha Krishna! Saying Ha Krishna!!’ she started crying. Hearing his cries like this, all men and women started diving into the ocean of wonder. Tears started flowing from everyone’s eyes.
Laughingly, the Lord said – ‘In the same way we will make everyone do Krishna-Kirtan.’ After assuring Shrivas in this way, the Lord fainted and fell on the earth and came to his senses after a long time. On regaining consciousness, you started looking around with surprise and said – ‘Pandit ji! how did i get here Have I not done any agility? You are like my father, you have always forgiven all my crimes. If I have done any agility, then you will forgive it. I have no idea how I came here and what I said.’
After listening to such innocent words of the Lord, Shrivas Pandit humbly said – ‘ Lord! Kept me in confusion for ever, don’t confuse me again, don’t cheat me now. Now I have come to know your true form, May the affection remain at your feet like this. Give me such a blessing.’ On saying this by Srivas, the Lord was pleased in his heart and somewhat shyly went towards his home.
