[भज] निताई-गौर राधेश्याम [जप] हरेकृष्ण हरेराम
भक्तों के साथ महाप्रभु की भेंट
यस्यैव पादाम्बुजभक्तिलभ्य:
प्रेमाभिधान: परम: पुमर्थ:
तस्मै जगन्मगंलमगलाय
चैतन्यचन्द्राय नमो नमस्ते।।
महाप्रभु अपने भक्तों से मिलने के लिये व्याकुल हो रहे थे, आज दो वर्ष के पश्चात वे अपने सभी प्राणों से भी प्यारे भक्तों से पुन: मिलेंगे, इस बात का स्मरण आते ही प्रभु प्रेम सागर मे डुबकियाँ लगाने लगते। इतने में ही उनके कानों में संकीर्तन की सुमधुर ध्वनि सुनायी पड़ी। उस नवद्वीपी ध्वनि को सुनते ही, प्रभु को श्रीवास पण्डित के घर की एक एक करके सभी बातें स्मरण होने लगीं। प्रभु के हृदय में उस समय भाँति-भाँति के विचार उठ रहे थे, उसी समय उन्हें सामने से आते हुए अद्वैताचार्य जी दिखायी दिये। प्रभु ने अपने परिकर के सहित आगे बढ़कर भक्तों का स्वागत किया। आचार्य ने प्रभु के चरणों में प्रणाम किया, प्रभु ने उनका गाढ़ालिंगन किया और बड़े ही प्रेम से अश्रु-विमोचन करते हुए वे आचार्य से लिपट गये। उस समय उन दोनों के सम्मिलन-सुख का उनके सिवा दूसरा अनुभव ही कौन कर सकता है?
इसके अनन्तर श्रीवास, मुकुन्ददत्त, वासुदेव तथा अन्य सभी भक्तों ने प्रभु के चरणों में प्रणाम किया। प्रभु सभी को यथायोग्य प्रेमालिंगन प्रदान करते हुए सभी की प्रशंसा करने लगे। इसके अनन्तर आप वासुदेव जी से कहने लगा- ‘वसु महाशय ! आप लोगों के लिये मैं बड़े ही परिश्रम के साथ दक्षिण देश से दो बहुत ही अदभुत पुस्तकें लाया हूँ। उनमें भक्तितत्त्व का सम्पूर्ण रहस्य भरा पड़ा है।’ इस बात से सभी को बड़ी प्रसन्नता हुई और सभी ने उन दोनों पुस्तकों की प्रतिलिपी कर ली। तभी से गौरभक्तों में उन पुस्तकों का अत्यधिक प्रचार होने लगा।
महाप्रभु सभी भक्तों को बार बार निहार रहे थे, उनकी आँखें उस भक्त मण्डली में किसी एक अपने अत्यन्त ही प्रिय पात्र की खोज कर रही थीं। जब कई बार देखने पर भी अपने प्रिय पात्र को न पा सकी तब तो आप भक्तों से पूछने लगे- ‘हरिदास जी दिखायी नहीं पड़ते, क्या वे नहीं आये हैं?’ प्रभु के इस प्रकार पूछने पर भक्तों ने कहा- ‘वे हम लोगों के साथ आये तो थे, किन्तु पता नहीं बीच में कहाँ रह गये।’ इतना सुनते ही दो चार भक्त हरिदास जी की खोज करने चले। उन लोगों ने देखा महात्मा हरिदास जी राजपथ से हटकर एक एकान्त स्थान में वैसे ही जमीन पर पड़े हुए हैं। भक्तों ने जाकर कहा- ‘हरिदास! चलिये, आपको महाप्रभु ने याद किया है।’
अत्यन्त ही दीनता के साथ कातर स्वर में हरिदास जी ने कहा- ‘मैं नीच पतित भला मन्दिर के समीप किस प्रकार जा सकता हूँ? मेरे अपवित्र अंग से सेवा पूजा करने वाले महानुभावों का कदाचित स्पर्श हो जायगा, तो यह मेरे लिये असह्य बात होगी।’ मैं भगवान के राजपथ पर पैर कैसे रख सकता हूँ? महाप्रभु के चरणों में मेरा बार बार प्रणाम कहियेगा और उनसे मेरी ओर से निवदेन कर दीजियेगा कि मैं मन्दिर के समीप न जा सकूँगा यहीं कहीं टोटा के समीप पड़ा रहूँगा।’ भक्तों ने जाकर यह समाचार महाप्रभु को सुनाया। इस बात को सुनते ही महाप्रभु के आनन्द का ठिकाना नहीं रहा। वे बार बार महात्मा हरिदास जी के शील, चरित्र तथा अमानी स्वभाव की प्रशंसा करने लगे। वे भक्तों से कहने लगे- ‘सुन लिया आप लोगों ने, जो इस प्रकार अपने को तृण से भी अधिक नीचा समझेगा, वही कृष्णकीर्तन का अधिकारी बन सकेगा।’ इतना कहकर महाप्रभु हरिदास जी के ही सम्बन्ध में सोचने लगे। उसी समय मन्दिर के प्रबन्धक के साथ काशी मिश्र भी वहाँ आ पहुँचे।
मिश्र को देखते ही प्रभु ने कहा- ‘मिश्र जी ! इस घर के समीप जो पुष्पोद्यान है उसमें एक एकान्त कुटिया आप हमें दे सकते हैं?’
हाथ जोड़े हुए काशी मिश्र ने कहा- ‘प्रभो ! यह आप कैसी बात कह रहे हैं। सब आपका ही तो है, देना कैसा? आप जिसे जहाँ चाहें ठहरा सकते हैं। जिसे निकालने की आज्ञा दें वह उसी समय निकल सकता है। हम तो आपके दोस्त हैं, जैसी आज्ञा हमें आप देंगे उसी का पालन हम करेंगे।’
ऐसा कह काशी मिश्र ने पुष्पोद्यान में एक सुन्दर सी कुटिया हमें आप देंगे उसी का पालन हम करेंगे।’ सभी भक्तों के निवास स्थान की व्यवस्था करने लगे। वाणीनाथ, काशी मिश्र तथा अन्यान्य मन्दिर के कर्मचारी भक्तों के लिये भाँति-भाँति का बहुत सा प्रसाद लदवाकर लाने लगे। महाप्रभु जल्दी से उठकर हरिदास जी के समीप आये।
हरिदास जी जमीन पर पड़े हुए भगवन्नामों का उच्चारण कर रहे थे। दूर से ही प्रभु को अपनी ओर आते देखकर हरिदास ने भूमि पर लेटकर प्रभु के लिये साष्टांग प्रणाम किया। महाप्रभु ने जल्दी से हरिदास जी को अपने हाथों से उठाकर गले से लगा लिया।
हरिदास जी बड़ी ही कातर वाणी में विनय करने लगे- ‘प्रभो ! इस नीच अधम को स्पर्श न कीजिये। दयालो ! इसीलिये तो मैं वहाँ आता नहीं था। मेरा अशुद्ध अंग आपके परम पवित्र श्रीविग्रह के स्पर्श करने योग्य नहीं है।’
महाप्रभु ने अत्यन्त ही स्नेह के साथ कहा- ‘हरिदास! आपका ही अंग परम पावन है, आपके स्पर्श करने से करोड़ों यज्ञों का फल मिल जाता है। मैं अपने को पावन करने के निमित्त ही आपका स्पर्श कर रहा हूँ। आपके अंग-स्पर्श से मेरे कोटि जन्मों के पापों का क्षय हो जायगा। आप जैसे भागवत वैष्वण का अंग स्पर्श देवताओं के लिये भी दुर्लभ है।’ इतना कहकर प्रभु हरिदास जी को अपने साथ लेकर उद्यान वाटिका में पहुँचे और उन्हें कुटिया दिखाते हुए कहने लगे- यहीं एकान्त में रहकर निरन्तर भगवन्नाम का जप किया करें। अब आप सदा मेरे ही समीप रहें। यहीं आपके लिये महाप्रसाद आ जाया करेगा। दूसरे भगवान के चक्र के दर्शन करके मन में जगन्नाथ जी के दर्शन का ध्यान कर लिया करें। मैं नित्यप्रति समुद्र स्नान करके आपके दर्शन करने यहाँ आया करूँगा।’
महाप्रभु की आज्ञा शिरोधार्य करके हरिदास जी उस निर्जन एकान्त स्थान में रहने लगे। महाप्रभु जगदानन्द, नित्यानन्द आदि भक्तों को साथ लेकर समुद्र स्नान निमित्त गये। प्रभु के स्नान कर लेने के अनन्तर सभी भक्तों ने समुद्र स्नान किया और सभी मिलकर भगवान के चूड़ा-दर्शन करने लगे। दर्शनों से लौटकर सभी भक्त महाप्रभु के समीप आ गये। तब तक मन्दिर से भक्तों के लिये प्रसाद भी आ गया था। महाप्रभु ने सभी को एक साथ प्रसाद पाने के लिये बैठाया और स्वयं अपने हाथों से भक्तों को परोसने लगे। महाप्रभु के परोसने का ढंग अलौकिक ही था। एक एक भक्तों के सम्मुख दो दो, चार चार मनुष्यों के खाने योग्य प्रसाद परोस देते। प्रभु के परोसे हुए प्रसाद के लिये मनाही कौन कर सकता था, इसलिये प्रभु अपने इच्छानुसार सबको यथेष्ट प्रसाद परोसने लगे। परोसने के अनन्तर प्रभु ने प्रसाद पाने की आज्ञा दी, किंतु प्रभु के बिना किसी ने पहले प्रसाद पाना स्वीकार ही नहीं किया। तब तो महाप्रभु पुरी, भारती तथा अन्य महात्माओं को साथ लेकर प्रसाद पाने के लिये बैठे।
जगदानन्द, दामोदर, नित्यानन्द जी तथा गोपीनाथाचार्य आदि बहुत से भक्त सब लोगों को परोसने लगे। प्रभु ने आज अन्य दिनों की अपेक्षा बहुत अधिक प्रसाद पाया तथा भक्तों को भी आग्रहपूर्वक खिलाते रहे।
प्रसाद पा लेने के अनन्तर सभी ने थोड़ा-थोड़ा विश्राम किया, फिर राय रामानन्द जी तथा सार्वभौम भट्टाचार्य आकर भक्तों से मिले।
प्रभु ने परस्पर एक-दूसरे का परिचय कराया। भक्त एक दूसरे का परिचय पाकर परम प्रसन्न हुए। फिर महाप्रभु सभी भक्तों को साथ लेकर जगन्नाथ जी के मन्दिर के लिये गये। मन्दिर में पहुँचते ही महाप्रभु ने संकीर्तन आरम्भ कर दिया। पृथक पृथक चार सम्प्रदाय बनाकर भक्तवृन्द प्रभु को घेरकर संकीर्तन करने लगे।
महाप्रभु प्रेम में विभोर होकर संकीर्तन के मध्य में नृत्य करने लगे। आज महाप्रभु को संकीर्तन में बहुत ही अधिक आनन्द आया। उनके शरीर में प्रेम के सभी सात्त्विक विकार उदय होने लगे। भक्तवृन्द आनन्द में मग्न होकर संकीर्तन करने लगे। पुरी-निवासियों ने आज से पूर्व ऐसा संकीर्तन कभी नहीं देखा था। सभी आश्चर्य के साथ भक्तों का नाचना, एक दूसरे को आलिंगन करना, मूर्च्छित होकर गिर पड़ना तथा भाँति-भाँति के सात्त्विक विकारों का उदय होना आदि अपूर्व दृश्यों को देखने लगे। महाराज प्रतापरुद्र जी भी अट्टालिका पर चढ़कर प्रभु का नृत्य संकीर्तन देख रहे थे। प्रभु के उस अलौकिक नृत्य को देखकर महाराज की प्रभु से मिलने की इच्छा और अधिकाधिक बढ़ने लगी।
महाप्रभु ने कीर्तन करते करते ही भक्तों के सहित मन्दिर की प्रदक्षिणा की और फिर शाम को आकर भगवान की पुष्पांजलि के दर्शन किये। सभी भक्त एक स्वर में भगवान के स्तोत्रों का पाठ करने लगे। पुजारी ने सभी भक्तों को प्रसादी-माला, चन्दन तथा प्रसादान्न दिया। भगवान की प्रसादी पाकर प्रभु भक्तों के सहित अपने स्थान पर आये। काशी मिश्र ने सायंकाल के प्रसाद का पहले से ही प्रबन्ध कर रखा था, इसलिये प्रभु ने सभी भक्तों को साथ लेकर प्रसाद पाया और फिर सभी भक्त प्रभु की अनुमति लेकर अपने अपने ठहरने के स्थान में सोने के लिये चले गये। इस प्रकार गौड़ीय भक्त जितने दिनों तक पुरी में रहे, महाप्रभु इसी प्रकार सदा उनके साथ आनन्द-विहार और कथा-कीर्तन करते रहे।

Yasyaiva padambujabhaktilabhya: Premabhidhan: Param: Pumartha: To him the universe is blessed O Chaitanya Chandra, I offer my obeisances to you.
Mahaprabhu was getting anxious to meet his devotees, today after two years he will again meet the devotees who are dearer to him than all his life, as soon as he remembers this, he starts taking a dip in the ocean of love. Just then, the melodious sound of sankirtan was heard in his ears. As soon as he heard that Navadvipi sound, the Lord started remembering all the things of Shrivas Pandit’s house one by one. Various thoughts were arising in the heart of the Lord at that time, at the same time he saw Advaitacharya ji coming in front of him. Prabhu along with his entourage went ahead and welcomed the devotees. The Acharya bowed down at the feet of the Lord, the Lord hugged him deeply, and shedding tears of love, he hugged the Acharya. At that time, who else can experience the happiness of meeting both of them except them?
After this Srivas, Mukundadatta, Vasudev and all the other devotees prostrated themselves at the feet of the Lord. Prabhu started praising everyone by giving all the worthy love hugs. After this, you started saying to Vasudev ji – ‘ Mr. Vasu! For you people, I have brought two very wonderful books from the South country with great effort. The whole secret of Bhakti Tattva is filled in them. Everyone was very happy with this and everyone copied those two books. Since then, those books were widely publicized among the Gaurabhakts.
Mahaprabhu was looking at all the devotees again and again, his eyes were searching for any one of his very favorite characters in that devotee group. When she could not find her favorite character even after seeing it several times, then she started asking the devotees – ‘Haridas ji is not visible, has he not come?’ They had come together, but don’t know where they stayed in between.’ On hearing this, two or four devotees went in search of Haridas ji. Those people saw Mahatma Haridas ji lying on the ground in a secluded place away from the highway. The devotees went and said – ‘Haridas! Come on, Mahaprabhu has remembered you.
Haridas ji said in a bitter voice with utmost humility – ‘ How can I go near the lowly degenerate temple? It would be intolerable for me if my unholy part might touch the dignitaries doing service and worship.’ How can I set foot on the royal path of God? Say my salutations again and again at Mahaprabhu’s feet and request him on my behalf that I will not be able to go near the temple, I will be lying here somewhere near Tota.’ The devotees went and told this news to Mahaprabhu. On hearing this, Mahaprabhu’s joy knew no bounds. He repeatedly started praising Mahatma Haridas ji’s modesty, character and selfless nature. He started saying to the devotees- ‘You have heard, the one who considers himself lower than Trina in this way, he will be able to become entitled to Krishna Kirtan.’ Saying this, Mahaprabhu started thinking about Haridas ji only. At the same time Kashi Mishra also reached there along with the manager of the temple.
On seeing Mishra, the Lord said – ‘Mishra ji! Can you give us a secluded cottage in the flower garden near this house?’
Kashi Mishra said with folded hands – ‘ Lord! What kind of thing are you saying. Everything is yours, how to give? You can stay wherever you want. The one who is allowed to leave can leave at the same time. We are your friends, we will obey whatever orders you give us.
By saying this, Kashi Mishra will give us a beautiful cottage in the flower garden, we will take care of it. The employees of Vaninath, Kashi Mishra and other temples started bringing lots of prasad for the devotees. Mahaprabhu got up early and came near Haridas ji.
Haridas ji was chanting the names of the Lord lying on the ground. Seeing the Lord coming towards him from a distance, Haridas prostrated himself on the ground. Mahaprabhu quickly lifted Haridas ji by his hands and hugged him.
Haridas ji started pleading in a very bitter voice – ‘Lord! Don’t touch this lowly wretch. Daylo! That’s why I didn’t come there. My impure part is not fit to touch your most holy idol.’
Mahaprabhu said with great affection – ‘ Haridas! Your own part is the most holy, by your touch one gets the result of crores of yagyas. I am touching you only for the sake of purifying myself. The sins of my crores of births will be destroyed by your touch. The touch of the body of a Bhagwat Vaishnava like you is rare even for the deities. Having said this, Lord Haridas reached the Garden Garden with him and showing him the cottage, said – stay here in solitude and chant the Lord’s name continuously. Now you always stay close to me. Mahaprasad will come here for you. After seeing the cycle of other Gods, meditate on the sight of Jagannath ji in your mind. I will come here to visit you every day after taking a bath in the sea.’
Following Mahaprabhu’s orders, Haridas ji started living in that deserted lonely place. Mahaprabhu Jagadananda, Nityananda etc. went to take a sea bath with the devotees. After the bath of the Lord, all the devotees took a bath in the sea and all together started seeing the bangles of the Lord. After returning from darshan, all the devotees came near Mahaprabhu. By then the prasad had also arrived from the temple for the devotees. Mahaprabhu made everyone sit together to receive the prasad and started serving it to the devotees with his own hands. Mahaprabhu’s way of serving was supernatural. In front of each and every devotee, he used to serve prasad fit for two or four people. Who could forbid the Prasad served by the Lord, so the Lord started serving enough Prasad to everyone according to his wish. After serving, the Lord ordered to receive the Prasad, but without the Lord first, no one accepted to receive the Prasad. Then Mahaprabhu Puri, along with Bharati and other Mahatmas, sat down to receive the prasad.
Many devotees like Jagadanand, Damodar, Nityanand ji and Gopinathacharya etc. started serving everyone. The Lord received much more prasad today than on other days and kept feeding the devotees with great insistence.
After getting the prasad, everyone rested for a while, then Rai Ramanand ji and Sarvabhaum Bhattacharya came and met the devotees.
Prabhu introduced each other to each other. The devotees were overjoyed to get to know each other. Then Mahaprabhu took all the devotees along with him and went to the temple of Jagannathji. Mahaprabhu started sankirtan as soon as he reached the temple. By forming four separate sects, the devotees surrounded the Lord and started chanting.
Mahaprabhu, overwhelmed with love, started dancing in the middle of the sankirtan. Today Mahaprabhu took great pleasure in chanting. All the sattvik disorders of love started emerging in his body. Devotees engrossed in joy started chanting. The residents of Puri had never seen such sankirtan before today. Everyone started watching with astonishment the wonderful scenes of devotees dancing, hugging each other, falling unconscious and emergence of various sattvik disorders etc. Maharaj Prataparudra ji was also watching the dance and sankirtan of the Lord by climbing on the Attalika. Seeing that supernatural dance of the Lord, Maharaj’s desire to meet the Lord increased more and more.
While doing kirtan, Mahaprabhu went around the temple along with the devotees and then came in the evening and had darshan of the Lord’s wreath. All the devotees started reciting hymns to God in one voice. The priest gave prasadi-garland, sandalwood and prasadanna to all the devotees. After receiving the Prasad of God, the Lord came to his place along with the devotees. Kashi Mishra had already made arrangements for the evening Prasad, so the Lord received the Prasad along with all the devotees and then after taking the permission of the Lord, all the devotees went to sleep at their respective places of stay. In this way, as long as Gaudiya’s devotees stayed in Puri, Mahaprabhu always continued to do Anand-Vihar and Katha-Kirtan with them.
