[भज] निताई-गौर राधेश्याम [जप] हरेकृष्ण हरेराम
जननी के दर्शन
जननी जन्मभूमिश्च जाह्नवी च जनार्दन:।
जनकः पंचमश्चैव जकाराः पंच दुर्लभाः।।
नीलाचल से प्रस्थान करते समय प्रभु ने सार्वभौम आदि भक्तों से कहा था- ‘गौड़-देश होकर वृन्दावन जाने से मेरे एक पन्थ दो काज हो जायँगे। प्रेममयी माता के दर्शन हो जायंगे। भागीरथी-स्नान और भक्तों से भेंट करता हुआ मैं रास्ते में जन्मभूमि के भी दर्शन करता जाऊँगा।’ महाप्रभु जनार्दन के हो जाने पर भी जननी, जन्मभूमि और जाह्नवी के प्रेम को नहीं भुला सके थे। उनके विशाल हृदय में इन तीनों ही के लिये विशेष स्थान था। इन तीनोंके दर्शनोंके लिये वे व्यग्र हो रहे थे। उड़ीसा-प्रान्त की अन्तिम सीमा पर पहुँचते ही त्रिताप-हारिणी भगवती भागीरथी के मनको परम प्रसन्नता प्रदान करने वाले शुभ दर्शन हुए। आज चिरकाल के अनन्तर जगद्वन्द्य सुरसरि भगवती जाह्नवीके दर्शनमात्र से ही प्रभु मूर्च्छित होकर पृथ्वी पर गिर पड़े और-‘गंगे-गंगे’ कहकर जोरों से रुदन करने लगे। वे गद्गद कण्ठ से गंगा जी की स्तुति कर रहे थे। कुछ देर के अनन्तर प्रभु उठे और भक्तों के सहित उन्होंने गंगा जी के निर्मल शीतल जल में स्नान तथा आचमन किया। उड़ीसा-सीमा-प्रान्त के अधिकारी ने प्रभु के स्वागत-सत्कार का पहले से ही विशेष प्रबन्ध कर रखा था, प्रभु के दर्शन से अधिकारी तथा सभी राज-कर्मचारियोंको परम प्रसन्नता हुई। वे प्रभु के पैरों में पड़कर रुदन करने लगे। प्रभु ने उन्हें छाती से चिपटाकर कृपा प्रदर्शित करते हुए उनके शरीरों पर अपना कोमल हाथ फेरा। प्रभु का स्पर्श पाते ही वे प्रेम में उन्मत्त होकर ‘हरि बोल, हरि बोल’ कहकर नृत्य करने लगे। प्रभु के आगमन का समाचार सुनकर आस-पास के सभी ग्रामों के स्त्री-पुरुष तथा बालक-बच्चे प्रभु के दर्शनों की लालसा से घाट पर आ-आकर एकत्रित हो गये। वे सभी ऊपर को हाथ उठा-उठाकर नृत्य करने लगे और आकाश को हिला देने वाली हरि-ध्वनि से दिशा-विदिशाओं को गुंजाने लगे।
उस पार गौड़-देश की सीमा थी, गौड़-देश के सीमाधिकारी यवन ने इस भारी कोलाहल को सुना। इसलिये उसने इसका असली कारण जानने के लिये एक गुप्तचर को भेजा। उन दिनों दोनों राज्यों में घोर तनातनी हो रही थी। यहाँ से गौड़ जाने के तीन रास्ते थे, तीनों ही युद्ध के कारण बन्द थे। आपस में एक-दूसरे को सदा भय ही बना रहता। वह गुप्तचर हिन्दू का वेष धारण करके प्रभु के समीप आया।
प्रभु के दर्शन पाते ही वह समीप पहुँचा। प्रान्ताधिप ने उससे उसकी प्रसन्नता का कारण पूछा। उसने गद्गद कण्ठ से ठहर-ठहरकर कहा- ‘सरकार! क्या बताऊं, जिन्हें मैं अभी देखकर आया हूँ, वे तो मानो सौन्दर्य के अवतार ही हैं। उनकी सूरत देखते ही मैं शरीर की सुधि भूल गया। उनकी चितवन में जादू है, मुस्कान में मादकता है और वाणीमें उन्मादकारी रस है। आप उन्हें एक बार देखभर लें, सब बातें भूल जायँगे और उनके बेदामों के गुलाम बनकर कदमोंमें लोटपोट होने लगेंगे।’
उस गुप्तचर के मुख से ऐसी बात सुनकर अधिकारी ने अपने एक परम विश्वासी अमात्य को उड़ीसा-प्रान्त के अधिकारी के समीप भेजा और प्रभु के दर्शन की अपनी इच्छा प्रकट की। मंत्री महोदय भी प्रभु के विश्वव्यापी प्रेम के प्रभाव से बचने नहीं पाये, वे भी उस अनुपम रसासव का पान करके छक-से गये। उन्होंने प्रेमभरे वचनों में अपने स्वामी के संवाद को उड़ियाधिकारी के समीप कह सुनाया। यवन-अधिकारी की ऐसी अभूतपूर्व अभिलाषाको सुनकर उडि़याधिकारी प्रभु के त्रिलोकपावन प्रेम की भूरि-भूरि प्रशंसा करते हुए कहने लगे- ‘महाप्रभु किसी एक के तो हैं ही नहीं, उनके ऊपर तो प्राणिमात्र का समानाधिकार है। आपके स्वामी यदि प्रभु-दर्शन की इच्छा रखते हैं तो हमारा सौभाग्य है, वे आवें और जरूर आवें। हमसे जैसा बन पड़ेगा, उनका आदर-सत्कार करेंगे, किन्तु वे ससैन्य न पधारें, अपने दस-पाँच विश्वासी सेवको के ही साथ प्रभुदर्शन के लिये आवें।’
इस समाचार को पाते ही यवनाधिकारी अपने दस-बीस विश्वासी सेवकों के साथ हिन्दुओं की-सी पोशाक पहनकर प्रभु के समीप आये। उन्होंने प्रभु की चरण-वन्दना की। प्रभु ने उन्हें प्रेमपूर्वक आलिंगन प्रदान किया। वे बहुत देर तक प्रभु की स्तुति-विनय करते रहे। उडि़याधिकारी ने उनका यथोचित सम्मान और सत्कार किया, उन्हें बहुत-सी वस्तुएँ उपहारस्वरूप भेंट में दीं और उनके साथ परम मैत्री का व्यवहार किया।
प्रभु दर्शनों से अपने को कृतार्थ समझकर उन लोगों ने प्रभु से जाने की आज्ञा मांगी, तब महाप्रभु के साथी भक्तों में से मुकुन्द दत्त ने यवनाधिकारी को सम्बोधन करते हुए कहा- ‘महाशय! हमारे प्रभु गंगा जी के पार होना चाहते हैं, क्या आप पार होनेका समुचित प्रबन्ध कर देंगे।’ यवनाधिकारी ने प्रभु को प्रातःकाल पार पहुँचने का वचन दिया और वह प्रभु को तथा सभी भक्तों को प्रणाम करके अपने स्थान को लौट गया। दूसरे दिन यवनाधिकारी की भेजी हुए बहुत-सी नौकाएँ आ पहुँचीं। अधिकारी के प्रधानमंत्री ने प्रभु के पादपद्मों में प्रणाम करके प्रस्थान करने का निवेदन किया महाप्रभु उड़ीसा-प्रान्त के सभी कर्मचारियों को प्रेमाश्वासन प्रदान करके नौका पर सवार हुए। उनकी नौका के चारों ओर सशस्त्र सैनिकों से युक्त बहुत-सी नावें जलदस्युओं से किसी प्रकार का भय न हो इस कारण प्रभु की रक्षा के निमित्त आगे-पीछे चलीं। इधर किनारे पर खड़े हुए उड़ियाधिकारी तथा ग्रामवासी आँसू बहाते हुए हरि-ध्वनि कर रहे थे, उधर नाव पर ही प्रभु भक्तों के साथ संकीर्तन कर रहे थे, इस प्रकार प्रेमके साथ संकीर्तन करते हुए मंत्रेश्वर नामक नाले को पार करके प्रभु भक्तों के सहित पिचलदह पहुँचे। वहाँ से प्रभु ने मुसलमान-अधिकारी को विदा किया और उसे अपने हाथ से जगन्नाथ जी का प्रसाद दिया। वह प्रभुदत्त प्रेमप्रसाद को पाकर प्रसन्नता प्रकट करता हुआ और प्रभुजन्य वियोग से अधीर होता हुआ वहाँ से लौट गया। महाप्रभु उसी नाव से पानीहाटी पहुँचे।
पानीहाटी-घाट पर प्रभु के आने का समाचार बात-की-बात में फैल गया। चारों ओर से स्त्री-पुरुष आ-आकर ‘गौरहरि की जय’, ‘शचीनन्दन की जय’ आदि बोल-बोलकर आकाश को गुँजाने लगे। घाट पर मनुष्यों की अपार भीड़ एकत्रित हो गयी। किसी प्रकार राघव पण्डित प्रभु को अपने घर ले गये। वहाँ एक दिन ठहरकर दूसरे दिन प्रातःकाल ही प्रभु कुमारहाटी पहुँचे। नवद्वीप के श्रीवास पण्डित का एक घर कुमारहाटी भी था। उस समय वे सपरिवार वहीं थे, प्रभु के पधारने से उनके परिवारभर में प्रसन्नता छा गयी।
स्त्री-पुरुष, बाल-बच्चे सभी आ-आकर प्रभुके चरणोंमें लोट-पोट होने लगे। कांचनपाड़ा के शिवानन्द सेन प्रभु को आग्रहपूर्वक अपने घर ले गये और वहीं महाप्रभु ने मुकुन्ददत्त के भाई वासुदेव के घर को भी अपनी चरणरज से पावन किया। एक दिन वहाँ रहकर प्रभु दूसरे दिन शांतिपुर में अद्वैताचार्य के घरके लिये चले।
शान्तिपुर में पहुँचने के पूर्व ही नगर भर में प्रभु के आगमन का हल्ला हो गया। लोग दौड़-दौड़कर प्रभु के दर्शनों के लिये जाने लगे। महाप्रभु उस अपार भीड़ के सहित अद्वैताचार्य के घर आये। आचार्य अपने पुत्र अच्युत को साथ लेकर प्रभु के पैरों में पड़ गये। महाप्रभु ने उन्हें उठाकर छाती से लगाया और अच्युत के सिरपर बार-बार हाथ फिराने लगे।
इधर शचीमाता को भी किसी ने जाकर समाचार सुनाया कि प्रभु शान्तिपुर आये हुए हैं। छः वर्ष के बिछुड़े हुए अपने संन्यासी पुत्र के मुख के देखने के लिये माता व्यग्र हो उठी, उसने उसी समय आचार्य चन्द्रशेखर को बुलाया। सभी भक्त बात-की-बात में शचीमाता के आंगन में आकर एकत्रित हो गये। सभी प्रभु के दर्शनों के लिये व्यग्रता प्रकट कर रहे थे। उसी समय शचीमाता के लिये पालकी मंगायी गयी और माता भी अपने जगन्मान्य पुत्र के मुख देखने की इच्छा से शान्तिपुर जाने की शीघ्रता करने लगी।
संसार में मनुष्य सब बातोंका थोड़ा-बहुत अनुभव कर सकता हैं, किन्तु सती-साध्वी- आर्य-ललनाओं की विरह-वेदना को समझने की और समझकर अनुभव करने की सामर्थ्य किसी में भी नहीं है। भक्त तो अपने प्यारे प्रभु के दर्शन करने शान्तिपुर चले जायंगे। वृद्धा माता भी भक्तों के साथ दौला पर चढ़कर शान्तिपुर में अपने प्यारे लाल का माथा सूंघ आयेगी और अपनी चिरदिन की साधको पूर्ण कर आयेगी, किन्तु पतिव्रता विष्णुप्रिया की क्या दशा होगी? दो कोस पर बैठे हुए भी अपने प्राणेश्वर के दर्शन से वह वंचित ही रहेंगी। उनके लिये उनके पति नीलाचल हों चाहे शान्तिपुर दोनों ही स्थान समान हैं। हाय रे समाज! तूने पविव्रताओं के लिये इतनी कठोरता क्यों स्थापित की है ? रात्रि-दिन जिनकी मूरति आँखों में नृत्य करती रहती है, प्रतिक्षण हृदय जिनका चिन्तन करता रहता है, वे ही प्राणरमण प्रियतम इतने समीप रहने पर भी बहुत दूर ही बने हुए हैं। विष्णुप्रिया अपने मनोव्यथा को किसके सामने प्रकट करतीं ? प्रकट करने की बात भी तो नहीं थी, यह तो हृदय के गहरे घाव की आन्तरिक कसक थी, इसे तो कोई भुक्तभोगी ही समझ सकता था। बेचारी वाणी की क्या सामर्थ्य जो उस वेदना को व्यक्त कर सके। विष्णप्रिया अपने पति के शयनकक्ष में जाकर चुपचाप बैठ गयीं। उस समय उनकी आँखोंमें एक भी आंसू नहीं था, उनका हृदय जल नहीं रहा था, धीरे-धीरे सुलग रहा था, उसमें से कड़वा-कड़वा धुआं निकलकर विष्णुप्रिया जी के कमल के समान विकसित मुख को म्लान बना रहा था।
विष्णुप्रिया जी सामने की खूंटी की ओर टकट की लगाये देख रही थीं। एक-एक करके उस रात्रि की सभी बातें आ-आकर उनकी दृष्टि के सामने प्रत्यक्ष नृत्य करने लगीं। इसी खूंटी पर महीन पीले रंग का उनके ओढ़ने का वस्त्र लटक रहा था। यहीं खाट पर मैं उनके अरुण रंग वाले कोमल चरणों को धीरे-धीरे सुहरा रही थी। वे बार-बार मेरा आलिंगन करते और कहते- ‘तुम तो पगली हुई हो, रोती क्यों हो, हंस दो। अच्छा, एक बार हंस दो’ ऐसा कह-कहकर वे बार-बार मेरी ठाडी को अपनी नरम-नरम ऊंगलियों से ऊपर की ओर उठाते थे, उसी समय मुझे नींद आ गयी। इन विचारों के साथ-ही-साथ सचमुच विष्णुप्रिया जी को नींद आ गयी।
शचीमाता शान्तिपुर जाने के लिये तड़प रही थीं। उनका हृदय बांसों ऊपर को उछाल रहा था, वे सोचती थीं कि पंख होते तो मैं अभी उड़कर अपने निमाई के चन्द्रमा के समान शीतल मुख को चूमती और उसके सोने के समान शरीर पर अपना हाथ फेरकर अपनी चिरदिन की इच्छा को पूर्ण करती। वे अन्तिम समय में विष्णुप्रिया से मिलने के लिये उन्हें ढूंढ़ती हुई उसी घर में जा पहुँची। वहाँ जाकर उन्होंने जो देखा उसे देखकर तो वे एकदम भयभीत हो उठीं।
विष्णुप्रिया जी की आँखें एकदम खुली हुई थीं, उनके पलक नहीं गिरते थे। चेहरे पर विरहजन्य वेदना की रेखाएं व्यक्त होकर उनके आन्तरिक असह्य दुःख की स्पष्ट सूचना दे रही थीं। उनका शरीर जड वस्तु के समान ज्यों-का-त्यों ही रखा था, उसमें जीवन के कोई चिह्न नहीं थे। भयभीत होकर माता ने पुकारा- ‘बेटी! बेटी! विष्णुप्रिया! हाय! बेटी! तू भी मुझे धोखा दे गयी क्या ?’ यह कहकर माता अपने कांपते हुए हाथों से उनके शरीर को झकझोरने लगीं। तब वह जल्दी से उठकर इधर-उधर भौंचक्की-सी देखती हुई जोरों से कहने लगी- ‘क्या सचमुच वे मुझे सोती ही छोड़कर चले गये। हाय! मैं लूट गयी। मेरा सर्वस्व अपहरण हो गया। यह देखो, खूँटी तो ख़ाली पड़ी है, उनका पीताम्बर भी नहीं है।’ यह कहकर विष्णुप्रिया पछाड़ खाकर फिर गिर पड़ी। माता ने अपने हाथ का सहारा देते हुए कहा- ‘बेटी! तू क्या कह रही है ? अरी बावरी, यह तुझे हो क्या गया है, मैं शान्तिपुर जा रही हूँ। तू क्या कहती है ?’
माता अपनी बहुकी अन्तर्वेदनाको समझ गयीं। नारीहृदय की वेदना यत्किंचित नारी ही समझ सकती है। विष्णुप्रिया जी को अब होश हुआ उन्होंने अपने भावों को छिपाते हुए कहा- ‘अम्मा जी, मुझे नींद आ गयी थी, उसी में न जाने मैंने कैसा स्वप्न देखा। उसी में कुछ बकने लगी होऊंगी। हाँ, आप शान्तिपुर जाती हैं, जायँ। उन्हें देख आवें। मेरे भाग्य में उनके दर्शन नहीं बदे हैं। न सही, मेरा इतना ही सौभाग्य क्या कम है कि उनके दर्शन के लिये लाखों आदमी जाते हैं। आप जायँ, मेरी चिन्ता न करें।’ अपनी पुत्रवधू के ऐसे दृढ़तापूर्ण वचनों को सुनकर माता का हृदय फटने लगा। उन्होंने अपनी छाती को कड़ी बनाकर उस आन्तरिक दुःख को प्रकट नहीं किया और अपनी बहु की ओर देखती हुई वे पालकी में जाकर बैठ गयीं। नित्यानन्द, वासुदेव, चन्द्रशेखर आचार्यरत्न तथा अन्यान्य सैकड़ों भक्त संकीर्तन करते हुए शचीमाता की पालकी के पीछे-पीछे चले।
महाप्रभु ने जब माता के आगमन का समाचार सुना तो उठकर दरवाजे पर आ गये। उन्होंने अपने हाथों से माता की पालकी से उतारा और वे अबोध बालक की भाँति उनके चरणों में लौटने लगे। प्रभु के चरणों में नित्यानन्द जी लोट रहे थे और अन्यान्य भक्त एक-दूसरे के चरणों को पकड़े हुए रुदन कर रहे थे। बहुत देर तक यह करुणापूर्ण प्रेम-दृश्य ज्यों-का-त्यों ही बना रहा। तब माता ने अपने काँपते हुए हाथों से सिंह के समान अपने तेजस्वी संन्यासी पुत्र को उठाकर छाती से लगाया। माता के स्तनों से आप-ही-आप दूध निकलने लगा और उस दूध से पृथ्वी भीग गयी।
माता ने पुत्र के अंग में लगी हुई धूलि अपने आंचल से पोंछी, पुत्र के मुख को चूमा, उनके माथे को सूंघा और सम्पूर्ण शरीर पर हाथ फिराती रही। प्रेम के कारण वह कुछ कह नहीं सकी। बहुत देर के अनन्तर प्रभु माता को साथ लेकर भीतर घर में गये। वे भाँति-भाँति से माता की स्तुति करने लगे। अपने गृह-त्यागरूपी अपराध के निमित्त क्षमा माँगने लगे और माता के प्रति असीम प्रेम प्रदर्शित करने लगे। माता इतने दिनों के पश्चात् अपने प्यारे पुत्र को पाकर परम प्रसन्न हुई और अपने आँसूओं से उनके वस्त्रोंको भिगोती हुई भाँति-भाँति के प्रेम-वाक्य कहले लगी। उस समय माता-पुत्र का यह सम्मिलन अपूर्व ही था। रात्रि में सभी भक्तों ने मिलकर संकीर्तन किया। माता ने अपने हाथों से अपने संन्यासी पुत्र को भोजन कराया। माता की संतुष्टि के निमित्त उस दिन प्रभु ने खूब डटकर भोजन किया। दूसरे दिन प्रभु ने भक्तों के सहित माता को विदा किया। माता ने घर आने का आग्रह किया। प्रभु ने वचन दिया कि अभी तो मैं पांच-सात दिन यहीं हूँ, हो सका तो आऊंगा। माता फिर मिलने की आशा रखती हुई नवद्वीप को लौट गयी।

Mother and birthplace and Jahnavi are Janardana. Janaka and the fifth are the five rare jakara.
While leaving Nilachal, the Lord had said to the devotees of Sarvabhaum etc. – ‘ By going to Vrindavan after going to Gaud-Desh, my religion will become two things. There will be darshan of loving mother. Bhagirathi-bathing and meeting the devotees, I will also visit the birthplace on the way. Mahaprabhu could not forget the love of Janani, Janmabhoomi and Jhanvi even after Janardan passed away. There was a special place for all these three in his huge heart. He was getting anxious for the darshan of these three. As soon as we reached the last border of Orissa-province, Tritap-Harini Bhagwati Bhagirathi had auspicious darshan which gave ultimate happiness to her heart. Today, the Lord fainted on the earth and started crying loudly by saying ‘Gange-Gange’ just by the mere sight of Bhagwati Jahnavi, the eternal Jagadvandya Surasari. He was praising Ganga ji in Gadgad voice. After some time, the Lord got up and along with the devotees, He bathed and performed in the pure cool water of Ganga ji. The officer of Orissa-Border-Province had already made special arrangements for the reception of the Lord, the officer and all the royal employees were very happy to see the Lord. They started crying by falling at the feet of the Lord. Prabhu showed His grace by hugging them to the chest and moved His soft hands on their bodies. As soon as he got the touch of the Lord, he became mad in love and started dancing saying ‘Hari Bol, Hari Bol’. Hearing the news of the arrival of the Lord, women, men and children of all the nearby villages gathered at the ghat with the longing to see the Lord. They all started dancing by raising their hands up and echoing the directions with the sound of Hari that shook the sky.
On the other side was the border of Gaud-Desh, Yavan, the border officer of Gaud-Desh, heard this huge uproar. That’s why he sent a detective to know the real reason. In those days there was a lot of tension between the two states. There were three ways to reach Gaur from here, all three were closed due to war. There was always fear of each other among themselves. That spy disguised as a Hindu came near the Lord.
As soon as he got the darshan of the Lord, he reached near. The governor asked him the reason for his happiness. He stopped and said from Gadgad’s voice – ‘Government! What should I tell, those whom I have come to see just now, they are as if they are the incarnation of beauty. As soon as I saw his face, I forgot about my body. There is magic in his chitwan, intoxication in his smile and frenzied juice in his speech. You just take care of them once, they will forget everything and become slaves of their lifeless feet, they will start rolling at their feet.’
After hearing such a thing from the mouth of that spy, the officer sent one of his most faithful Amatya to the officer of Orissa-province and expressed his desire to have the darshan of the Lord. Even the minister could not escape the influence of the Lord’s universal love, he too got carried away after drinking that unique Rasava. In loving words, he told his master’s dialogue near the Udiyadhikari. Hearing such an unprecedented desire of the Yavana-Adhikari, the Udayadhikari started praising the Trilokpavan love of the Lord and said – ‘ Mahaprabhu does not belong to any one, He has equal rights over all the living beings. If your master wishes to see God, then it is our good fortune, he should come and definitely come. We will honor them as much as we can, but they should not come as soldiers, they should come with ten or five of their faithful servants to see God.’
On receiving this news, the Yavanadhikari came near the Lord with his ten-twenty faithful servants dressed like Hindus. He worshiped the feet of the Lord. The Lord lovingly embraced him. They kept praising the Lord for a long time. Udiyadhikari respected and felicitated him appropriately, presented him with many things as a gift and treated him with utmost friendship.
Considering themselves to be blessed by seeing the Lord, those people sought permission from the Lord to go, then Mukund Dutt, one of the fellow devotees of Mahaprabhu, addressed the Yavanadhikari and said – ‘Sir! Our Lord wants to cross the Ganga ji, will you make proper arrangements to cross.’ Yavanadhikari promised to reach the Lord early in the morning and he returned to his place after saluting the Lord and all the devotees. On the second day many boats sent by Yavanadhikari arrived. The Prime Minister of the officer requested to depart after saluting the lotus feet of the Lord. Mahaprabhu boarded the boat after providing love assurance to all the employees of Orissa-province. Many boats with armed soldiers around his boat moved back and forth to protect the Lord so that there was no fear of pirates. Here the Udiyadhikari and the villagers standing on the shore were chanting Hari-Dhwani while shedding tears, on the other side the Lord was doing sankirtan with the devotees on the boat itself, in this way doing sankirtan with love crossed the rivulet named Mantreshwar and reached Pichaldah along with the devotees. . From there the Lord sent off the Muslim-officer and gave him the prasad of Jagannath ji from his own hand. He returned from there expressing happiness after getting Prabhudatta Premprasad and being impatient of separation from Prabhujanya. Mahaprabhu reached Panihati in the same boat.
The news of the Lord’s arrival at Panihati Ghat spread in every word. Men and women came from all around and started echoing the sky by saying ‘Gaurhari ki Jai’, ‘Sachinandan ki Jai’ etc. A huge crowd of people gathered on the ghat. Somehow Raghav Pandit took Prabhu to his home. Staying there for one day, Prabhu reached Kumarhati the next morning. Kumarhati was also a house of Shrivas Pandit of Nabadwip. At that time he was there with his family, the presence of the Lord filled his family with happiness.
Men, women, children all came and started prostrated at the feet of the Lord. Sivananda Sen of Kanchanpada insisted on taking Prabhu to his home and there Mahaprabhu also sanctified the house of Mukundadatta’s brother Vasudev with his feet. After staying there for one day, Prabhu left for Advaitacharya’s house in Shantipur the next day.
Even before reaching Shantipur, there was a hue and cry about the arrival of the Lord throughout the city. People started running to have darshan of the Lord. Mahaprabhu came to Advaitacharya’s house along with that immense crowd. Acharya took his son Achyut along with him and fell at the feet of the Lord. Mahaprabhu picked him up and hugged him and started turning his hands again and again on Achyut’s head.
Here someone went and told Sachimata also that the Lord has come to Shantipur. The mother got anxious to see the face of her sanyasi son who had been separated for six years, she called Acharya Chandrashekhar at the same time. All the devotees came and gathered in the courtyard of Sachimata in conversation. Everyone was expressing their eagerness to have the darshan of the Lord. At the same time a palanquin was called for Sachimata and the mother also started hastening to go to Shantipur with the desire to see the face of her born son.
Man can experience everything in the world to a little bit, but no one has the ability to understand and feel the pain of separation of Sati-Sadhvi-Arya-Lallanas. Devotees will go to Shantipur to have darshan of their beloved Lord. The old mother will also come with the devotees on a doula to smell the forehead of her beloved son in Shantipur and complete her daily sadhakas, but what will be the condition of Pativrata Vishnupriya? Even sitting on two kos, she will remain deprived of seeing her Praneshwar. For her, whether her husband is Neelachal or Shantipur, both the places are equal. Hello society! Why have you established such harshness for the pious? Night and day whose idol dances in the eyes, whose heart keeps thinking every moment, they are the ones who remain so far away even though the beloved is so near. To whom would Vishnupriya reveal her anguish? It was not even a matter of revealing it, it was the inner agony of a deep wound in the heart, only a victim could understand it. What is the power of poor speech that can express that pain. Vishnapriya went to her husband’s bedroom and sat quietly. At that time there was not a single tear in his eyes, his heart was not burning, it was burning slowly, bitter smoke coming out of it was making Vishnupriya ji’s lotus-like developed face pale.
Vishnupriya ji was staring at the peg in front of her. One by one all the things of that night came and started dancing directly in front of his vision. His fine yellow colored cloth was hanging on this peg. Here on the cot, I was slowly soothing his arun colored soft feet. He would hug me again and again and say- ‘You are mad, why do you cry, make me laugh. Well, give me a laugh once.” Saying this, he repeatedly lifted my chin upwards with his soft fingers, at the same time I fell asleep. Along with these thoughts, Vishnupriya ji really fell asleep.
Sachimata was yearning to go to Shantipur. Her heart was leaping above the bamboos, she used to think that if she had wings, I would fly now and kiss her face as cool as the moon of Nimai and by turning my hand on her golden body, I would fulfill my eternal desire. She went to the same house looking for Vishnupriya to meet her at the last moment. When she went there, she was horrified to see what she saw.
Vishnupriya ji’s eyes were completely open, her eyelids did not fall. The lines of separation pain were clearly visible on his face giving a clear indication of his inner unbearable sorrow. His body was kept as it was like an inert object, there were no signs of life in it. Frightened, the mother called out – ‘Daughter! Daughter Vishnupriya! Oh! Daughter Have you also cheated me?’ Saying this, the mother started shaking his body with her trembling hands. Then she quickly got up and looked around bewildered and started saying loudly – ‘Did they really leave me sleeping and go away? Oh! I got robbed My everything was abducted. Look at this, the peg is lying empty, there is no Pitambar.’ Saying this, Vishnupriya fell down again after being left behind. Giving support to her hand, the mother said – ‘Daughter! what are you saying Hey Bawri, what has happened to you, I am going to Shantipur. What do you say?’
Mother understood the inner feelings of her daughter-in-law. Only a few women can understand the pain of a woman’s heart. Vishnupriya ji became conscious now, hiding her feelings, she said- ‘Amma ji, I had fallen asleep, don’t know what kind of dream I saw in that. There must have been some chatter in that. Yes, you go to Shantipur, go. Come see them His darshan has not changed in my fate. No, I am not so fortunate that lakhs of people go to see him. You go, don’t worry about me.’ The mother’s heart began to burst upon hearing such resolute words of her daughter-in-law. She did not reveal that inner sorrow by tightening her chest and went and sat in the palanquin looking at her daughter-in-law. Nityananda, Vasudeva, Chandrasekhara Acharyaratna and hundreds of other devotees followed Sachimata’s palanquin performing sankirtana.
When Mahaprabhu heard the news of Mata’s arrival, he got up and came to the door. He removed the mother from the palanquin with his own hands and started returning to her feet like an innocent child. Nityanand ji was rolling at the feet of the Lord and other devotees were crying holding each other’s feet. For a long time this compassionate love-scene remained as it was. Then the mother lifted her ascetic son, shining like a lion, with trembling hands and hugged him to the chest. Milk started coming out of the mother’s breasts on its own and the earth became drenched with that milk.
The mother wiped the dust stuck on the son’s body with her lap, kissed the son’s face, smelled his forehead and kept moving her hands all over the body. She could not say anything because of love. After a long time, the Lord went inside the house taking the mother along with him. They started praising the mother in many ways. He started apologizing for the crime of leaving his home and started showing immense love towards his mother. The mother was overjoyed to see her beloved son after so many days, and while soaking his clothes with her tears, she started uttering love-sentences. At that time this combination of mother and son was unique. In the night all the devotees performed Sankirtan together. The mother fed her ascetic son with her own hands. For the satisfaction of the mother, the Lord ate a lot of food that day. On the second day, the Lord bid farewell to the mother along with the devotees. Mother urged to come home. The Lord has promised that now I am here for five-seven days, if possible I will come. Mother returned to Navadweep hoping to meet her again.
