पतित पावनी गंगा को देव नदी कहा जाता है क्योंकि शास्त्रों के अनुसार गंगा स्वर्ग से धरती पर आई है।
गंगा श्री हरि विष्णु के चरणों से निकली है और भगवान शिव की जटाओं में आकर बसी है।
श्री हरि और भगवान शिव से घनिष्ठ संबंध होने पर गंगा को पतित पावनी कहा जाता है। मान्यता है कि गंगा में स्नान करने से मनुष्य के सभी पापों का नाश हो जाता है।
एक दिन देवी गंगा श्री हरि से मिलने बैकुण्ठ धाम गई और उन्हें जाकर बोली,” प्रभु ! मेरे जल में स्नान करने से सभी के पाप नष्ट हो जाते हैं लेकिन मैं इतने पापों का बोझ कैसे उठाऊंगी ? मेरे में जो पाप समाएंगे उन्हें कैसे समाप्त करूंगी ?”
इस पर श्री हरि बोले, “गंगा! जब साधु, संत, वैष्णव आ कर आप में स्नान करेंगे तो आप के सभी पाप घुल जाएंगे।”
गंगा नदी इतनी पवित्र है की प्रत्येक हिंदू की अंतिम इच्छा होती है उसकी अस्थियों का विसर्जन गंगा में ही किया जाए लेकिन यह अस्थियां जाती कहां हैं ?
इसका उत्तर तो वैज्ञानिक भी नहीं दे पाए क्योंकि असंख्य मात्रा में अस्थियों का विसर्जन करने के बाद भी गंगा जल पवित्र एवं पावन है। गंगा सागर तक खोज करने के बाद भी इस प्रश्न का पार नहीं पाया जा सका।
सनातन धर्म की मान्यता के अनुसार मृत्यु के बाद आत्मा की शांति के लिए मृत व्यक्ति की अस्थि को गंगा में विसर्जन करना उत्तम माना गया है। यह अस्थियां सीधे श्री हरि के चरणों में बैकुण्ठ जाती हैं।
जिस व्यक्ति का अंत समय गंगा के समीप आता है उसे मरणोपरांत मुक्ति मिलती है। इन बातों से गंगा के प्रति हिन्दूओं की आस्था तो स्वभाविक है।
वैज्ञानिक दृष्टि से गंगा जल में पारा अर्थात (मर्करी) विद्यमान होता है जिससे हड्डियों में कैल्शियम और फोस्फोरस पानी में घुल जाता है। जो जलजन्तुओं के लिए एक पौष्टिक आहार है। वैज्ञानिक दृष्टि से हड्डियों में गंधक (सल्फर) विद्यमान होता है जो पारे के साथ मिलकर पारद का निर्माण होता है। इसके साथ-साथ यह दोनों मिलकर मरकरी सल्फाइड साल्ट का निर्माण करते हैं। हड्डियों में बचा शेष कैल्शियम, पानी को स्वच्छ रखने का काम करता है। धार्मिक दृष्टि से पारद शिव का प्रतीक है और गंधक शक्ति का प्रतीक है। सभी जीव अंततःशिव और शक्ति में ही विलीन हो जाते हैं।…।

Patit Pani Ganga is called Dev river because according to the scriptures, Ganga has come from heaven to earth. Ganga has emerged from the feet of Sri Hari Vishnu and resides in the hair of Lord Shiva.
Ganga is called Patit Pavani because of its close relationship with Shri Hari and Lord Shiva. It is believed that taking a bath in the Ganges destroys all the sins of a man.
One day Goddess Ganga went to Baikuntha Dham to meet Shri Hari and said to him,” Lord! Everyone’s sins are destroyed by bathing in my water, but how will I bear the burden of so many sins? ?”
On this Shri Hari said, “Ganga! When sages, saints, Vaishnavs come and bathe in you, all your sins will dissolve.”
The river Ganga is so holy that it is the last wish of every Hindu that his ashes should be immersed in the Ganges, but where do these ashes go?
Even scientists could not answer this because even after immersing innumerable quantities of bones, the water of the Ganges is pure and holy. Even after searching till Ganga Sagar, this question could not be overcome.
According to the belief of Sanatan Dharma, it is considered best to immerse the dead person’s bone in the Ganges for the peace of the soul after death. These bones go directly to the feet of Shri Hari.
The person whose end time comes near the Ganga gets salvation after death. Due to these things, the faith of Hindus towards Ganga is natural.
From the scientific point of view, mercury (mercury) is present in the water of the Ganges, due to which calcium and phosphorus in the bones dissolve in water. Which is a nutritious diet for aquatic animals. Scientifically, sulfur is present in the bones, which combines with mercury to form parad. Along with this, both of them together form mercury sulphide salt. The rest of the calcium left in the bones works to keep the water clean. From a religious point of view, Parad is the symbol of Shiva and Gandhak is the symbol of Shakti. All living beings ultimately merge into Shiva and Shakti.
