कृष्ण के साथ राधा का नाम ऐसे जुड़ा है जैसे काया के साथ छाया जुड़ी होती है। लेकिन शास्त्र कहते हैं कि राधा कब हुई, कहना मुश्किल है। पुराने शास्त्रों में राधा का कोई उल्लेख नहीं है। राधा का उल्लेख बहुत बाद में शुरू हुआ। मध्ययुग के संतों ने राधा का उल्लेख करना शुरू किया और अब तो राधा उतनी ही ऐतिहासिक मालूम होती है जितने कृष्ण। लेकिन कभी उसका नाम भी नहीं था। राधा कभी हुई ऐसा नहीं है, राधा प्रतीक है।
जिन्होंने भीतर के अनाहत नाद में डुबकी लगाई है वे कुछ ऐसा अर्थ कहते हैं, राधा धारा का उल्टा रूप है, केवल प्रतीक है। धारा बहती है बाहर की तरफ, नीचे की तरफ। गंगा उतरी हिमालय से, चली सागर की तरफ। छोड़ दिया स्रोत, गंगोत्री छोड़ दी। चली गंगा सागर की तरफ। धारा बहती है दूर की तरफ। गंतव्य उसका बहुत दूर है। धारा अपने स्रोत से दूर होती जाती है, प्रतिपल दूर होती जाती है।
अनाहत नाद को सुननेवाले कहते हैं कि धारा को उल्टा करके राधा शब्द बनाया है। जब तुम्हारी चेतना की धारा बाहर की तरफ न बह कर भीतर की तरफ बहती है, जब तुम गंगा-सागर की तरफ न जाकर गंगोत्री की तरफ चल पड़ते हो, जब तुम अपने में ही डुबकी मारने लगते हो तब तुम्हारे भीतर राधा का जन्म होता है। धारा राधा बन जाती है। और जैसे ही तुम राधा बने कि कृष्ण से मिलन है; कि सुनी उसकी बांसुरी; कि सुनाई पड़ी उसकी तान; कि दिखाई पड़ा उसका नृत्य। जिन्हें भी खोजना है अनाहत नाद को उन्हें राधा बनना होगा।
राधा कोई ऐतिहासिक व्यक्तित्व नहीं है। राधा प्रत्येक भक्त के भीतर घटने वाली घटना का नाम है। राधा की अवस्था भक्त की चरम अवस्था है। बस, कृष्ण से मिलने के क्षणभर पूर्व राधा का जन्म होता है–बस क्षणभर पूर्व! क्षणभर राधा नाचती है कृष्ण के आस-पास, आती-जाती पास, आती-जाती पास, आती-जाती पास और फिर कृष्ण में लीन हो जाती है।
Radha’s name is associated with Krishna like a shadow is associated with the body. But the scriptures say that it is difficult to say when Radha happened. There is no mention of Radha in the old scriptures. Mention of Radha started much later. The medieval sages started mentioning Radha and now Radha seems to be as historical as Krishna. But he was never even named. Radha has never been like this, Radha is a symbol.
Those who have taken a dip in the inner Anahat Naad say something like this, Radha is the reverse form of Dhara, only a symbol. The stream flows outwards, downwards. The Ganga descended from the Himalayas, went towards the ocean. Left source, left Gangotri. Ganga went towards the ocean. The stream flows away. His destination is far away. The stream goes away from its source, every moment it goes away.
Those who listen to Anahat Naad say that the word Radha has been created by reversing the stream. When the stream of your consciousness does not flow outwards but flows inwards, when you go towards Gangotri instead of going towards Ganga-Sagar, when you start taking a dip in yourself, then Radha is born within you. . Dhara becomes Radha. And as soon as you become Radha, there is a meeting with Krishna; that listened to his flute; that his tone was heard; That his dance was visible. Whoever wants to find Anahat Naad, they have to become Radha.
Radha is not a historical figure. Radha is the name of the event that happens within each devotee. The state of Radha is the ultimate state of the devotee. Just a moment before meeting Krishna, Radha is born – just a moment before! Radha dances around Krishna for a moment, coming near, coming near, coming near and then she gets absorbed in Krishna.
