नियम का महत्व

एक संत थे। एक दिन वे एक जाट के घर गए। जाट ने उनकी बड़ी सेवा की। सन्त ने उसे कहा कि रोजाना नाम -जप करने का कुछ नियम ले लो। जाट ने कहा बाबा, हमारे को वक्त नहीं मिलता। सन्त ने कहा कि अच्छा, रोजाना ठाकुर जी की मूर्ति के दर्शन कर आया करो। जाट ने कहा मैं तो खेत में रहता हूँ और ठाकुर जी की मूर्ति गाँव के मंदिर में है, कैसे करूँ ? संत ने उसे कई साधन बताये, कि वह कुछ-न-कुछ नियम ले लें। पर वह यही कहता रहा कि मेरे से यह बनेगा नहीं, मैं खेत में काम करूँ या माला लेकर जप करूँ। इतना समय मेरे पास कहाँ है ? बाल-बच्चों का पालन पोषण करना है। आपके जैसे बाबा जी थोड़े ही हूँ। कि बैठकर भजन करूँ। संत ने कहा कि अच्छा तू क्या कर सकता है ? जाट बोला कि पड़ोस में एक कुम्हार रहता है। उसके साथ मेरी मित्रता है। उसके और मेरे खेत भी पास-पास हैं, और घर भी पास-पास है। रोजाना एक बार उसको देख लिया करूँगा। सन्त ने कहा कि ठीक है, उसको देखे बिना भोजन मत करना। जाट ने स्वीकार कर लिया। जब उसकी पत्नी कहती कि भोजन कर लो। तो वह चट बाड़ पर चढ़कर कुम्हार को देख लेता। और भोजन कर लेता। इस नियम में वह पक्का रहा। एक दिन जाट को खेत में जल्दी जाना था। इसलिए भोजन जल्दी तैयार कर लिया। उसने बाड़ पर चढ़कर देखा तो कुम्हार दीखा नहीं। पूछने पर पता लगा कि वह तो मिट्टी खोदने बाहर गया है। जाट बोला कि कहाँ मर गया, कम से कम देख तो लेता। अब जाट उसको देखने के लिए तेजी से भागा। उधर कुम्हार को मिट्टी खोदते-खोदते एक हाँडी मिल गई। जिसमें तरह-तरह के रत्न, अशर्फियाँ भरी हुई थीं। उसके मन में आया कि कोई देख लेगा तो मुश्किल हो जायेगी। अतः वह देखने के लिए ऊपर चढा तो सामने वह जाट आ गया। कुम्हार को देखते ही जाट वापस भागा। तो कुम्हार ने समझा कि उसने वह हाँडी देख ली। और अब वह आफत पैदा करेगा। कुम्हार ने उसे रूकने के लिए आवाज लगाई। जाट बोला कि बस देख लिया, देख लिया। कुम्हार बोला कि अच्छा, देख लिया तो आधा तेरा आधा मेरा, पर किसी से कहना मत। जाट वापस आया तो उसको धन मिल गया। उसके मन में विचार आया कि संत से अपना मनचाहा नियम लेने में इतनी बात है। अगर सदा उनकी आज्ञा का पालन करूँ तो कितना लाभ है। ऐसा विचार करके वह जाट और उसका मित्र कुम्हार दोनों ही भगवान् के भक्त बन गए। तात्पर्य यह है कि हम दृढता से अपना एक उद्देश्य बना ले, नियम ले लें तो वह भी हमारी डुबती किश्ती पार लगा सकता है..!!

There was a saint. One day he went to the house of a Jat. Jats did him a great service. The saint asked him to take some rule of chanting the name daily. Jat said Baba, we do not get time. The saint said that good, come daily after seeing the idol of Thakur ji. The Jat said that I live in the farm and the idol of Thakur ji is in the village temple, how to do it? The saint told him many means, that he should take some or the other rules. But he kept saying that it will not be done by me, I should work in the field or chant with a garland. Where do I have that much time? To take care of the children. I am few like you Baba. Let me sit and pray. The saint said well what can you do? Jat said that a potter lives in the neighbourhood. I am friends with him. His fields and mine are also close by, and the house is also close by. I will see him once daily. The saint said that it is okay, do not eat food without seeing him. Jat accepted. When his wife says to have food. So he would climb up on the fence and see the potter. and would eat. He remained firm in this rule. One day the Jat had to go early to the field. So the food was prepared quickly. When he climbed the fence and saw, the potter did not see. On enquiry, it was found that he had gone out to dig the soil. Jat said where he died, at least he would have seen. Now the Jatt ran fast to see him. On the other hand, the potter found a handi while digging the soil. In which various types of gems and asharfis were filled. It came to his mind that if someone sees it, it will be difficult. So when he climbed up to see, that Jat came in front. On seeing the potter, the Jat ran back. So the potter understood that he had seen that handi. And now he will create trouble. The potter called for him to stop. Jat said that he has just seen, he has seen. The potter said that well, if you see half your half mine, but don’t tell anyone. When the Jat came back, he got the money. A thought came in his mind that there is so much point in taking his desired rule from a saint. If I always follow His orders, then what is the benefit? Thinking so, both the Jat and his friend, the potter, became devotees of the Lord. The meaning is that if we firmly make a purpose of ourselves, if we follow the rules, then that too can cross our sinking boat..!!
