पंडित श्री रामनाथ शहर के बाहर अपनी पत्नी के साथ रहते थे | एक दिन जब वो अपने विद्यार्थिओं को पढ़ाने के लिए जा रहे थे तो उनकी पत्नी ने उनसे सवाल किया ” कि आज घर में खाना कैसे बनेगा क्योंकि घर में केवल मात्र एक मुठी चावल भर ही है ?” पंडित जी ने पत्नी की और एक नजर से देखा फिर बिना किसी जवाब के वो घर से चल दिए |
शाम को वो जब वापिस लौट कर आये तो भोजन के समय थाली में कुछ उबले हुई चावल और पत्तियां देखी | यह देखकर उन्होंने अपनी पत्नी से कहा ” भद्रे ये स्वादिष्ट शाक जो है वो किस चीज़ से बना है ??” मेने जब सुबह आपके जाते समय आपसे भोजन के विषय में पूछा था तो आपकी दृष्टि इमली के पेड़ की तरफ गयी थी | मैंने उसी के पतों से यह शाक बनाया है | पंडित जी ने बड़ी निश्चितता के साथ कहा अगर इमली के पत्तो का शाक इतना स्वादिष्ट होता है फिर तो हमे चिंता करने की कोई आवश्यकता ही नहीं है अब तो हमे भोजन की कोई चिंता ही नहीं रही |
जब नगर के राजा को पंडित जी की गरीबी का पता चला तो राजा ने पंडित को नगर में आकर रहने का प्रस्ताव दिया किन्तु पंडित ने मना कर दिया | तो राजा हैरान हो गया और स्वयं जाकर उनकी कुटिया में उनसे मिलकर इसका कारण जानने की इच्छा हुई | राजा उनकी कुटिया में गया तो राजा ने काफी देर इधर उधर की बाते की लेकिन वो असमंजस में था कि अपनी बात किस तरह से पूछे लेकिन फिर उसने हिम्मत कर पंडित जी से पूछ ही लिया कि आपको किसी चीज़ का कोई अभाव तो नहीं है न ??
पंडित जी हसकर बोले यह तो मेरी पत्नी ही जाने इस पर राजा पत्नी की और आमुख हुए और उनसे वही सवाल किया तो पंडित जी की पत्नी ने जवाब दिया कि अभी मुझे किसी भी तरीके का अभाव नहीं है क्योंकि मेरे पहनने के वस्त्र इतने नहीं फटे कि वो पहने न जा सकते और पानी का मटका भी तनिक नहीं फूटा कि उसमे पानी नहीं आ सके और इसके बाद मेरे हाथों की चूडिया जब तक है मुझे किसी चीज़ का क्या अभाव हो सकता है ?? और फिर सीमित साधनों में भी संतोष की अनुभूति हो तो जीवन आनंदमय हो जाता है |

Pandit Shri Ramnath lived with his wife outside the city. One day when he was going to teach his students, his wife asked him “How will the food be prepared in the house today because there is only a handful of rice in the house?” Pandit ji looked at his wife with one eye and then without any answer he left the house.
When he came back in the evening, he saw some boiled rice and leaves in the plate during the meal. Seeing this, he said to his wife, “Bhadre, what is this delicious herb made of??” When I asked you about food on your way out in the morning, your eyes went towards the tamarind tree. I have made this herb from his addresses. Pandit ji said with great certainty that if the herb of tamarind leaves is so delicious then there is no need for us to worry, now we are not worried about the food.
When the king of the city came to know about the poverty of Pandit ji, the king offered the Pandit to come and live in the city, but the Pandit refused. So the king was surprised and wanted to know the reason for himself by going to meet him in his hut. When the king went to his hut, the king talked for a long time here and there, but he was confused as to how to ask his point, but then he dared to ask Pandit ji whether you have any lack of anything, right? ?
Pandit ji laughed and said that only my wife knew about this and the king turned to his wife and asked her the same question, then Panditji’s wife replied that I do not lack any method now because my clothes are not torn so much that They can not be worn and the pot of water did not burst even a little that water could not come in it and after that as long as the bangles of my hands are there, what can I lack?? And then if there is a feeling of satisfaction even in limited resources, then life becomes blissful. Long live Rama
