आज भगवान विष्णु के नौवें अवतार श्री बलराम जी का प्रकटतसव पर्व है जो आज के दिन देशभर में विशेषकर मथुरा, गुजरात में धूमधाम से मनाया जाता है। धार्मिक ग्रंथों के अनुसार मान्यता है कि इस दिन श्री आदि शेषनाग द्वापर युग में भगवान श्री कृष्ण के बड़े भाई के रुप में अवतरित हुए थे। इस पर्व को हल षष्ठी ⛏️ एवं हर छठ के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। जैसा कि मान्यता है कि बलराम जी का मुख्य शस्त्र हल तथा मूसल हैं जिस कारण इन्हें हलधर कहा जाता है इन्हीं के नाम पर इस पर्व को हल षष्ठी भी कहा जाता है। इस दिन बिना हल चले धरती से पैदा होने वाले अन्न, शाक भाजी आदि खाने का विशेष महत्व माना जाता है। गाय के दूध व दही के सेवन को भी इस दिन वर्जित माना जाता है। साथ ही संतान प्राप्ति के लिये विवाहिताएं व्रत भी रखती हैं। हिन्दू धर्म के अनुसार मान्यता है कि त्रेता युग में भगवान श्रीराम के छोटे भाई लक्ष्मण शेषनाग का अवतार थे, इसी प्रकार द्वापर में जब भगवान विष्णु पृथ्वी पर श्री कृष्ण अवतार में आए तो शेषनाग भी यहां उनके बड़े भाई के रूप में अवतरित हुए। शेषनाग कभी भी भगवान विष्णु के बिना नहीं रहते हैं। बलराम जी जन्मोत्सव के दिन सौभाग्यवती स्त्रियां बलशाली पुत्र की कामना से व्रत रखती हैं, साथ ही भगवान बलराम से यह प्रार्थना की जाती है कि वो उन्हें अपने जैसा तेजस्वी पुत्र प्रदान करें। शक्ति के प्रतीक बलराम जी भगवान श्री कृष्ण के बड़े भाई हैं, इन्हें आज्ञाकारी पुत्र, आदर्श भाई तथा एक आदर्श पति भी माना जाता है। भगवान श्री कृष्ण की लीलाएं इतनी महान तथा मनभावन हैं कि बलराम जी की ओर ध्यान बहुत कम जाता है। लेकिन श्री कृष्ण भी इन्हें बहुत मानते थे। इन्होंने धेनुकासुर समेत कई राक्षसों का वध भी किया था। इनके जन्म की कथा भी काफी रोमांचक है। मान्यता है कि ये मां देवकी के सातवें गर्भ थे, चूंकि माँ देवकी की हर संतान पर कंस की कड़ी नजर थी इसलिये इनका बचना बहुत ही कठिन था, ऐसें में देवकी जी के सातवें गर्भ के गिरने की खबर फैल गई लेकिन वास्तव में देवकी जी तथा वासुदेव जी के तप तथा भगवान विष्णु की कृपा से माँ देवकी का यह सप्तम गर्भ वासुदेव जी की पहली पत्नी रोहिणी जी के गर्भ में प्रत्यापित हो चुका था। लेकिन उनके लिये संकट यह था कि पति तो कैद में हैं फिर ये गर्भवती कैसे हुई लोग तो प्रश्न पूछेंगें, अतः लोक निंदा से बचने के लिये जन्म के तुरंत बाद ही बलराम जी को नंद बाबा के यहां पालने के लिये भेज दिया गया था। बलराम जी का विवाह रेवती जी के संग हुआ था।*

Today is the manifestation festival of Shri Balram, the ninth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, which is celebrated with great pomp across the country, especially in Mathura, Gujarat. According to religious texts, it is believed that on this day Shri Adi Sheshnag had incarnated as the elder brother of Lord Shri Krishna in Dwapar Yuga. This festival is also known as Hal Shashthi and Har Chhath. As it is believed that the main weapons of Balram ji are plow and pestle, due to which they are called Haldhar, in their name this festival is also called Hal Shashthi. On this day, it is considered of special importance to eat food, vegetable, etc., which are born from the earth without getting plowed. Consumption of cow’s milk and curd is also considered taboo on this day. Along with this, married women also keep fast to get children. According to Hindu religion, it is believed that in Treta Yuga, Lakshman, the younger brother of Lord Shri Ram, was the incarnation of Sheshnag, similarly, when Lord Vishnu came to earth in Shri Krishna avatar in Dwapar, Sheshnag also incarnated here as his elder brother. Sheshnag never lives without Lord Vishnu. On the day of Balaram’s birth anniversary, fortunate women keep a fast with the wish of having a strong son, along with it is prayed to Lord Balarama that he should provide them with a brilliant son like himself. Balram ji, the symbol of power, is the elder brother of Lord Shri Krishna, he is also considered an obedient son, ideal brother and an ideal husband. The pastimes of Lord Shri Krishna are so great and pleasing that very little attention is paid to Balarama. But Shri Krishna also respected him a lot. He also killed many demons including Dhenukasur. The story of his birth is also quite exciting. It is believed that this was the seventh womb of Mother Devaki, since Kansa had a close eye on every child of Mother Devaki, so it was very difficult to avoid them, in such a situation, the news of the fall of Devaki ji’s seventh pregnancy spread, but in reality Devaki ji and Due to the tenacity of Vasudev ji and the grace of Lord Vishnu, this seventh womb of Mother Devaki was transferred to the womb of Rohini ji, the first wife of Vasudev ji. But the problem for her was that the husband is in captivity, then how did she get pregnant, people will ask questions, so to avoid public condemnation, immediately after birth, Balram ji was sent to raise Nanda Baba’s place. Balram ji was married with Revathi ji.
