अपरा एकादशी की हार्दिक शुभकामनाएं..!
आज अपरा एकादशी है। अपरा एकादशी भगवान विष्णु को समर्पित मानी गयी है। यह एकादशी ज्येष्ठ मास के कृष्णपक्ष की एकादशी को पड़ती है। अपरा एकादशी को अचला एकादशी, भद्रकाली एकादशी, जलक्रीड़ा एकादशी के रूप में भी जाना जाता है।
अपरा एकादशी महत्व-
इस माह अपरा एकादशी १५ मई २०२३ (सोमवार) को स्मार्त एवं वैष्णव (गृहस्थ) संप्रदाय द्वारा तथा १६ मई के दिन निम्बार्क संप्रदाय द्वारा मनायी जाएगी। शास्त्रों के अनुसार इस एकादशी के व्रत को विधि पूर्वक करने से अपार धन की प्राप्ति होती है। साथ ही यह एकादशी यश प्रदान करने वाली एकादशी भी मानी जाती है।
अपरा एकादशी मुहूर्त-
एकादशी तिथि प्रारम्भ- मई १५, को रात्रि ०२:४६ बजे से।
एकादशी तिथि समाप्त- मई १६ को रात्रि ०१:०३ बजे तक।
पारण (व्रत तोड़ने का) समय- १६ मई को प्रातः ०६:४१ से ०८:१३ तक।
पारण तिथि के दिन हरि वासर समाप्त होने का समय- प्रातः ०६:४१ पर।
युधिष्ठिर ने भगवान कृष्ण से इस व्रत के माहात्म्य के बारे में विस्तार से बताने को कहा ! युधिष्ठिर ने कहा कि हे प्रभु ज्येष्ठ कृष्ण एकादशी का क्या नाम है तथा उसका माहात्म्य क्या है, कृपा करके कहिए?
युधिष्ठिर के आग्रह पर भगवान श्रीकृष्ण बताने लगे- हे राजन! यह एकादशी अचला और अपरा एकादशी के नाम से जानी जाती है। पुराणों के अनुसार ज्येष्ठ कृष्ण पक्ष की एकादशी अपरा एकादशी है, क्योंकि यह अपार धन देने वाली है, जो मनुष्य इस व्रत को करते हैं, वे संसार में प्रसिद्ध हो जाते हैं।
अपरा एकादशी के विषय में ऐसी शास्त्रीय मान्यता है कि जो मनुष्य अपने भूतकाल और वर्तमान के पापों से डरता है उसे इस एकादशी का व्रत करना चाहिए। ऐसा माना जाता है कि इस दिन माता भद्रकाली प्रकट हुईं थीं।
अपरा एकादशी के व्रत से मनुष्य को मोक्ष की प्राप्ति होती है। इतना ही नहीं मान्यता यह भी है कि इस व्रत को धारण करने से मनुष्य ब्रह्महत्या के पाप से भी मुक्त हो जाता है।
अपरा एकादशी के दिन भगवान त्रिविक्रम की पूजा की जाती है। अपरा एकादशी के व्रत के प्रभाव से ब्रह्महत्या, भूतयोनि, दूसरे की निंदा आदि के सब पाप दूर हो जाते हैं। इस व्रत को करने से सारे पाप नष्ट हो जाते हैं, जो क्षत्रिय युद्ध से भाग जाए वे नरकगामी होते हैं, परंतु अपरा एकादशी का व्रत करने से वे भी स्वर्ग को प्राप्त होते हैं। जो शिष्य गुरु से शिक्षा ग्रहण करते हैं फिर उनकी निंदा करते हैं, वे अवश्य नरक में पड़ते हैं, मगर अपरा एकादशी का व्रत करने से वे भी इस पाप से मुक्त हो जाते हैं।
जो फल तीनों पुष्कर में कार्तिक पूर्णिमा को स्नान करने से या गंगा तट पर पितरों को पिंडदान करने से प्राप्त होता है, वही अपरा एकादशी का व्रत करने से प्राप्त होता है। मकर के सूर्य में प्रयागराज के स्नान से, शिवरात्रि का व्रत करने से, सिंह राशि के बृहस्पति में गोमती नदी के स्नान से, कुंभ में केदारनाथ के दर्शन या बद्रीनाथ के दर्शन, सूर्यग्रहण में कुरुक्षेत्र के स्नान से, स्वर्णदान करने से अथवा अर्द्धप्रसूता गौदान से जो फल मिलता है, वही फल अपरा एकादशी के व्रत से मिलता है।
यह व्रत एक ऐसी कुल्हाड़ी है जो पापरूपी वृक्ष को काट देती है। यह एकादशी पापरूपी ईंधन को जलाने के लिए अग्नि, पापरूपी अंधकार को मिटाने के लिए सूर्य के समान, मृगों को मारने के लिए सिंह के समान है। इसलिए मनुष्य को पापों से डरते हुए इस व्रत को अवश्य करना चाहिए। अपरा एकादशी का व्रत तथा भगवान का पूजन करने से मनुष्य सब पापों से छूटकर विष्णु लोक को जाता है।
अपरा एकादशी व्रत विधि-
इस व्रत में भगवान विष्णु का धूप, दीप, नेवैद्य और श्वेत पुष्पों से पूजन करना चाहिए। एकादशी की रात्रि में हरी नाम का संकीर्तन करना चाहिए।
यह व्रत सूर्योदय से लेकर अगले दिन सूर्योदय होने तक रखा जाता है। इस व्रत में चावल और तेल का उपयोग नहीं करना चाहिए। इस दिन तुलसी से पत्ते न तोड़ें।
विष्णु सहस्रनाम का पाठ और श्रवण करें। इस दिन व्रत रखने से बड़े से बड़ा पापी भी मोक्ष का अधिकारी बन सकता है। इएलिए इस व्रत को विधि पूर्वक धारण करना चाहिए।
अपरा एकादशी व्रत कथा-
इसकी प्रचलित कथा के अनुसार प्राचीन काल में महीध्वज नामक एक धर्मात्मा राजा था। उसका छोटा भाई वज्रध्वज बड़ा ही क्रूर, अधर्मी तथा अन्यायी था। वह अपने बड़े भाई से द्वेष रखता था। उस पापी ने एक दिन रात्रि में अपने बड़े भाई की हत्या करके उसकी देह को एक जंगली पीपल के नीचे गाड़ दिया। इस अकाल मृत्यु से राजा प्रेतात्मा के रूप में उसी पीपल पर रहने लगा और अनेक उत्पात करने लगा।
एक दिन अचानक धौम्य नामक ॠषि उधर से गुजरे। उन्होंने प्रेत को देखा और तपोबल से उसके अतीत को जान लिया। अपने तपोबल से प्रेत उत्पात का कारण समझा। ॠषि ने प्रसन्न होकर उस प्रेत को पीपल के पेड़ से उतारा तथा परलोक विद्या का उपदेश दिया।
दयालु ॠषि ने राजा की प्रेत योनि से मुक्ति के लिए स्वयं ही अपरा (अचला) एकादशी का व्रत किया और उसे अगति से छुड़ाने को उसका पुण्य प्रेत को अर्पित कर दिया। इस पुण्य के प्रभाव से राजा की प्रेत योनि से मुक्ति हो गई। वह ॠषि को धन्यवाद देता हुआ दिव्य देह धारण कर पुष्पक विमान में बैठकर स्वर्ग को चला गया।

Today is Apara Ekadashi. Apara Ekadashi is considered dedicated to Lord Vishnu. This Ekadashi falls on the Ekadashi of Krishna Paksha of Jyestha month. Apara Ekadashi is also known as Achala Ekadashi, Bhadrakali Ekadashi, Jalkrida Ekadashi.
Apara Ekadashi importance- This month Apara Ekadashi will be celebrated on 15th May 2023 (Monday) by Smarta and Vaishnava (Household) sect and on 16th May by Nimbarka sect. According to the scriptures, observing the fast of this Ekadashi methodically gives immense wealth. Along with this, this Ekadashi is also considered to be the Ekadashi that bestows fame.
Apara Ekadashi Muhurta- Ekadashi date starts – May 15, from 02:46 in the night. Ekadashi date ends – May 16 till 01:03 pm.
Paran (breaking the fast) time – 06:41 am to 08:13 am on 16th May.
Hari Vasar ends on the day of Paran Tithi – at 06:41 in the morning.
Yudhishthira asked Lord Krishna to explain in detail about the greatness of this fast. Yudhishthir said that O Lord, what is the name of Jyestha Krishna Ekadashi and what is its greatness, please tell me?
On the request of Yudhishthira, Lord Krishna started telling – O Rajan! This Ekadashi is known as Achala and Apara Ekadashi. According to the Puranas, the Ekadashi of Jyestha Krishna Paksha is Apara Ekadashi, because it gives immense wealth, the people who observe this fast become famous in the world.
There is such a classical belief about Apara Ekadashi that the person who is afraid of his past and present sins should fast on this Ekadashi. It is believed that Mata Bhadrakali appeared on this day.
By fasting on Apara Ekadashi man attains salvation. Not only this, it is also believed that by observing this fast, a man becomes free from the sin of Brahmahatya.
Lord Trivikram is worshiped on the day of Apara Ekadashi. With the effect of fasting on Apara Ekadashi, all the sins of Brahmahatya, Bhootyoni, condemnation of others etc. are removed. By observing this fast, all the sins are destroyed, the Kshatriyas who run away from the war go to hell, but by observing Apara Ekadashi, they also get heaven. Those disciples who take education from the Guru and then condemn him, they definitely fall in hell, but by fasting on Apara Ekadashi, they also get free from this sin.
The fruit that is obtained by bathing in all the three Pushkars on Kartik Purnima or by offering pindadan to ancestors on the banks of the Ganges, is obtained by fasting on Apara Ekadashi. Bathing in Prayagraj in the sun of Capricorn, fasting on Shivratri, bathing in Gomti river in Jupiter in Leo, visiting Kedarnath or Badrinath in Kumbh, bathing in Kurukshetra during a solar eclipse, donating gold or donating semi-fertile cows The fruit that is obtained, the same fruit is obtained by fasting on Apara Ekadashi.
This fast is such an ax that cuts the sinful tree. This Ekadashi is like fire to burn sinful fuel, like sun to dispel sinful darkness, like lion to kill deer. That’s why man must observe this fast while being afraid of sins. By fasting on Apara Ekadashi and worshiping God, a man gets rid of all sins and goes to Vishnu Lok.
Apara Ekadashi fasting method- In this fast, Lord Vishnu should be worshiped with incense, lamp, Nevaidya and white flowers. Hari Naam should be chanted on the night of Ekadashi.
This fast is observed from sunrise till sunrise the next day. Rice and oil should not be used in this fast. Do not pluck leaves from basil on this day.
Recite and listen to Vishnu Sahasranama. By observing fast on this day, even the biggest of sinners can become entitled to salvation. That’s why this fast should be observed methodically.
Apara Ekadashi fast story- According to its popular legend, in ancient times there was a pious king named Mahidhwaj. His younger brother Vajradhwaj was very cruel, unrighteous and unjust. He used to hate his elder brother. That sinner killed his elder brother one night and buried his body under a wild peepal tree. Due to this untimely death, the king started living on the same Peepal in the form of a ghost and started doing many mischiefs.
One day suddenly a sage named Dhaumya passed by. He saw the ghost and learned his past from Tapobal. With his penance, he understood the cause of the ghost mischief. The sage was pleased and removed that ghost from the Peepal tree and preached the knowledge of the other world.
The merciful sage himself fasted on Apara (Achala) Ekadashi to get rid of the king’s ghost vagina and offered his virtue to the ghost to get rid of him from Agati. Due to the effect of this virtue, the king was freed from the ghost vagina. Giving thanks to the sage, he took a divine body and went to heaven sitting in the Pushpak Vimana.
