यमुना स्नान ब्रजवासियों की दिनचर्या का मुख्य अंग रहा है। कातिक (कार्तिक) और माघ मास नहाने का विशेष महात्म्य है। एक कहावत है, आठ माघ नौ कातिक नहावै, दस वैषाख अलौनौ खावै, सीधौ वैकुंठ जावै। कार्तिक मास में पूरे महीने ब्रज वनिताएं नित्य ब्रह्म बेला में मथुरा स्थित विश्राम घाट पर कालिंदी में आस्था की डुबकी लगाती हैं। तुलसी और सालिगराम का पूजन करती हैं और गीत गाती हैं। गांवों में भी ब्रजांगनाएं कातिक स्नान, व्रत नियम करती हैं। मथुरा व आसपास के गांवों से कुछ गीतों का संकलन किया
