*ग्यारहवें अध्याय का, ‘कमल’ करे विस्तार।।
एक बार सागर पुत्र जलन्धर अपनी पत्नी वृन्दा सहित असुरों से सम्मानित हुआ सभा में बैठा था तभी गुरु शुक्राचार्य का वहाँ आगमन हुआ. उनके तेज से सभी दिशाएँ प्रकाशित हो गई. गुरु शुक्राचार्य को आता देखकर सागर पुत्र जलन्धर ने असुरों सहित उठकर बड़े आदर से उन्हें प्रणाम किया. गुरु शुक्राचार्य ने उन सबको आशीर्वाद दिया. फिर जलन्धर ने उन्हें एक दिव्य आसन पर बैठाकर स्वयं भी आसन ग्रहण किया फिर सागर पुत्र जलन्धर ने उनसे विनम्रतापूर्वक पूछा – हे गुरुजी! आप हमें यह बताने की कृपा करें कि राहु का सिर किसने काटा था ?
इस पर दैत्य गुरु शुक्राचार्य ने विरोचन पुत्र हिरण्यकश्यपु और उसके धर्मात्मा पौत्र का परिचय देकर देवताओं और असुरों द्वारा समुद्र मंथन की कथा संक्षेप में सुनाते हुए बताया कि जब समुद्र से अमृत निकला तो उस समय देवरूप बनाकर राहु भी पीने बैठ गया. इस पर इन्द्र के पक्षपाती भगवान विष्णु ने राहु का सिर काट डाला.
अपने गुरु के मुख से इस प्रकार के वचन सुनकर जलन्धर के क्रोध की सीमा न रही, उसके नेत्र लाल हो गये फिर उसने अपने धस्मर नामक दूत को बुलाया और उसे शुक्राचार्य द्वारा सुनाया गया वृत्तान्त सुनाया. तत्पशचत उसने धस्मर को आज्ञा दी कि तुम शीघ्र ही इन्द्रपुरी में जाकर इन्द्र को मेरी शरण में लाओ
*धस्मर जलन्धर का बहुत आज्ञाकारी एवं निपुण दूत था. वह जल्द ही इन्द्र की सुधर्मा नामक सभा में जा पहुंचा और जलन्धर के शब्दों में इन्द्र से बोला – हे देवताधाम! तुमने समुद्र का मन्थन क्यों किया और मेरे पिता के समस्त रत्नों को क्यों ले लिया ? ऎसा कर के तुमने अच्छा नहीं किया. यदि तू अपना भला चाहता है तो उन सब रत्नों एवं देवताओं सहित मेरी शरण में आ जा अन्यथा मैं तेरे राज्य का ध्वंस कर दूंगा, इसमें कुछ भी मिथ्या नहीं है
इन्द्र बहुत विस्मित हुआ और कहने लगा – पहले मेरे भय से सागर ने सब पर्वतों को अपनी कुक्षि में क्यों स्थान दिया और उसने मेरे शत्रु दैत्यों की क्यों रक्षा की? इसी कारण मैंने उनके सब रत्न हरण किये हैं. मेरा द्रोही सुखी नहीं रह सकता, इसमें सन्देह नहीं.
इन्द्र की ऎसी बात सुनकर वह दूत शीघ्र ही जलन्धर के पास आया और सब बातें कह सुनाई. उसे सुनते ही वह दैत्य मारे क्रोध के अपने ओष्ठ फड़फड़ाने लगा और देवताओं पर विजय प्राप्त करने के लिए उसने उद्योग आरम्भ किया फिर तो सब दिशाओं, पाताल से करोड़ो-2 दैत्य उसके पास आने लगे. शुम्भ-निशुम्भ आदि करोड़ो सेनापतियों के साथ जलन्धर इन्द्र से युद्ध करने लगा. शीघ्र ही इन्द्र के नन्दन वन में उसने अपनी सेना उतार दी. वीरों की शंखध्वनि और गर्जना से इन्द्रपुरी गूंज उठी. अमरावती छोड़ देवता उससे युद्ध करने चले. भयानक मारकाट हुई. असुरों के गुरु आचार्य शुक्र अपनी मृत संजीवनी विद्या से और देवगुरु बृहस्पति द्रोणागिरि से औषधि लाकर जिलाते रहे
इस पर जलन्धर ने क्रुद्ध होकर कहा कि मेरे हाथ से मरे हुए देवता जी कैसे जाते हैं? जिलाने वाली विद्या तो आपके पास है
इस पर शुक्राचार्य ने देवगुरु द्वारा द्रोणाचार्य से औषधि लाकर देवताओं को जिलाने की बात कह दी. यह सुनकर जलन्धर और भी कुपित हो गया फिर शुक्राचार्य जी ने कहा – यदि शक्ति हो तो द्रोणागिरि को उखाड़कर समुद्र में फेंक दो तब मेरे कथन की सत्यता प्रमाणित हो जाएगी. इस पर जलन्धर कुपित होकर जल्द ही द्रोनागिरि पर्वत के पास पहुंचा और अपनी भुजाओं से पकड़कर द्रोणागिरि पर्वत को उखाड़कर समुद्र में फेंक दिया. यह तो भगवान शंकर का तेज था इसमें जलन्धर की कोई विचित्रता नहीं थी.
तत्पश्चात यह सागर पुत्र युद्धभूमि में आकर बड़े तीव्र गति से देवताओं का संहार करने लगा. जब द्रोनाचार्य जी औषधि लेने गये तो द्रोणाचल को उखड़ा हुआ शून्य पाया. वह भयभीत हो देवताओं के पास आये और कहा कि युद्ध बन्द कर दो. जलन्धर को अब नहीं जीत सकोगे.
पहले इन्द्र ने शिवजी का अपमान किया था, यह सुन सेवता युद्ध में जय की आशा त्याग कर इधर-उधर भाग गये. सिन्धु-सुत निर्भय हो अमरावती में घुस गया, इन्द्र आदि सब देवताओं ने गुफाओं में शरण ली।

Once Sagar’s son Jalandhar was sitting in the meeting with his wife Vrinda honored by the Asuras, when Guru Shukracharya arrived there. All directions were illuminated by his brilliance. Seeing Guru Shukracharya coming, Sagar’s son Jalandhar got up along with the demons and bowed to him with great respect. Guru Shukracharya blessed them all. Then Jalandhar seated him on a divine seat and took his seat himself, then Sagar’s son Jalandhar humbly asked him – O Guruji! Would you please tell us who had beheaded Rahu?
On this, the demon guru Shukracharya, by introducing the son of Virochana, Hiranyakashipu and his godly grandson, narrated the story of the churning of the ocean by the gods and asuras, and told that when the nectar came out of the ocean, Rahu also sat down to drink as a god. On this, Lord Vishnu, the ally of Indra, beheaded Rahu.
Hearing such words from the mouth of his guru, Jalandhar’s anger knew no bounds, his eyes turned red, then he called his messenger named Dhasmar and told him the story narrated by Shukracharya. After that he ordered Dhasmar that you should soon go to Indrapuri and bring Indra under my shelter.
Dhasmar was a very obedient and accomplished messenger of Jalandhar. He soon reached Indra’s meeting called Sudharma and said to Indra in the words of Jalandhar – O Godhead! Why did you churn the ocean and take away all my father’s gems? You did no good by doing this. If you want your own good, then take refuge in me with all those gems and gods, otherwise I will destroy your kingdom, there is nothing false in this.
Indra was very astonished and started saying – Why did Sagar place all the mountains in his orbit because of my fear and why did he protect my enemy demons? That is why I have taken away all his gems. My adversary cannot be happy, no doubt about it.
Hearing such a thing from Indra, the messenger soon came to Jalandhar and narrated all the things. On hearing this, the demon started flapping his lips in anger and he started the industry to win over the gods, then crores-2 demons from all directions, underworld started coming to him. Along with crores of generals like Shumbh-Nishumbha etc. Jalandhar started fighting with Indra. Soon he dropped his army in the Nandan forest of Indra. Indrapuri reverberated with the conch shell and roar of the heroes. The gods left Amravati and went to fight with him. There was a terrible massacre. Acharya Shukra, the guru of the Asuras, kept alive by bringing medicine from his dead Sanjeevani Vidya and Devguru Brihaspati from Dronagiri.
On this, Jalandhar got angry and said that how do the dead gods go from my hand? You have the enlightenment
On this Shukracharya told the Devguru to bring medicine from Dronacharya to revive the gods. Hearing this, Jalandhar became even more enraged, then Shukracharya said – If you have the power, uproot Dronagiri and throw it into the sea, then the truth of my statement will be proved. On this, Jalandhar got angry and soon reached near Dronagiri mountain and grabbed by his arms uprooted Dronagiri mountain and threw it into the sea. It was the brilliance of Lord Shankar, there was no strangeness of Jalandhar in it.
After that this son of Sagar came to the battlefield and started destroying the deities with great speed. When Dronacharya went to take medicine, Dronachal found a broken void. He was frightened and came to the gods and said that stop the war. You will not be able to win Jalandhar now.
Hearing this that Indra had insulted Shiva, Sevata fled away from the hope of victory in the war. Sindhu-Sutt became fearless and entered Amaravati, Indra etc. all the deities took refuge in the caves.
