आज मै आपको भगवान शरभेश्वर की कथा सुनाता हूं, जो शिव महापुराण ‘शत रूद्र संहिता’ में वर्णित है।
जब भगवान विष्णु ने संसार के कल्याण के लिए और अपने भक्त प्रह्लाद की रक्षा के लिए नरसिंह का रूप लिया तब हिरण्यकशिपु का वध करने के बाद नरसिंह क्रोध में आ गए , तब देवताओं ने प्रह्लाद को नरसिंह के हृदय से लगाया , लेकिन नरसिंह का हृदय तो शांत हो गया लेकिन क्रोध शांत नहीं हुआ। तब देवताओं ने संसार की रक्षा के लिए कैलास पर भगवान शिव की शरण ली। भगवान शिव ने अपने ही अंश से प्रकट भैरवरूप वीरभद्र को वहां भेजा।
तब वीरभद्र ने पहले विनय से उन्हे समझाया आपका कार्य अब पूरा हुआ आप अपने इस रूप का त्याग करे। तब नरसिंह क्रोध के बोले मैं इस संसार का परब्रह्म हूं, मै स्वतंत्र हूं मैं इस रूप का कभी त्याग नही करूंगा , और संसार का प्रलय कर दूंगा, मै इस संसार का स्वामी हूं , सभी देवता मुझसे ही शक्तिसंपन्न है और जगतकर्ता ब्रह्मा तो मेरे नाभि कमल से उत्पन्न हैं , तुम जहां से आए हो वहां चले जाओ, लोक हित की बात मुझसे मत करो।
तब वीरभद्र ने कहा क्या तुम सभी के ईश्वर भगवान शिव को नही जानते। आपमें केवल मिथ्या वाद विवाद है जो आपके विनाश का कारण है, हे विष्णो कहीं ऐसे न हो आप की संसार में केवल कथा ही रह जाए,आप संसार के संहार में प्रवीण होने के कारण कहीं ऐसा न हो इसकी दक्षिणा आपको ही मिल जाए। रूद्र परम पुरुष है आप प्रकृति हैं उन्होंने आपमें अपना वीर्य आधान किया है, जिससे आपके नाभि कमल से ब्रह्माजी उत्पन्न हुए है। आपने तो उनकी शक्ति की एक कला मात्र से इस राक्षस को मारा है। आपके कूर्म अवतार का मुंड शिव जी के गले की मुंडमाला में शोभित है। आपसे लेकर स्तंभ पर्यंत सभी में शिव जी की ही शक्ति समाहित है। अगर आप शांत न हुए तो महाभैरव रुद्र का क्रोध मृत्यु रूप होकर तुम पर गिरेगा।
इतना सुनकर नरसिंह क्रोध से व्याकुल गर्जन करते हुए वीरभद्र को पकड़ने के लिए दौड़े, तब वीरभद्र ने अद्भुत रूप धारण किया जो अत्यंत प्रचंड था, देवता लोग जय जय कार करने लगे। उनका रूप हजार भुजाओं वाला,जटाधार , बालचंद्र धारण किए हुए, 2 पंख और पक्षी की तरह चोंच धारण किए हुए , विशाल और तीक्ष्ण दांत वाले , वज्र तुल्य नख रूपी शस्त्र वाले, नीलकंठ , महाबाहु , चार चरणों से युक्त तथा अग्नि के समान तेजस्वी थे, उन्होंने प्रलयकारी मेघों के समान गर्जना करते हुए नरसिंह को पकड़ लिया, और उन्हे अपने पंखों से उन्हे विदीर्ण करने लगे और ऊपर ले गए, ब्रह्मा आदि देवता भगवान शरभ की स्तुति करने लगे, इस प्रकार ले जाते हुए दीनमुख नरसिंह ने 108 नामों द्वारा उनकी स्तुति करके बोले हे परमेश्वर जब जब मेरी मूढ़ बुद्धि को अहंकार दूषित करे तब आप ही उसे दूर करे।
तब शरभ रूपी शिव जी ने नरसिंह को अपने अंदर समाहित कर लिया और देवता उनकी स्तुति करने लगे, तब शरभ रूपी शिव जी बोले जिस प्रकार जल में जल समाहित होता है उसी प्रकार विष्णु भी मुझमें समाहित होकर एकरस हो गए है, मै उन विष्णु को नमस्कार करता हूं, वो मेरे भक्त है और मेरे भक्तो को वरदान देते है।
तब सबके देखते भगवान शरभ अंतर्धान हो गए।
तब भगवान वीरभद्र ने नरसिंह का चर्म निकाला और उसे कैलास पर्वत पर भगवान शिव के पास ले गए, उसी समय से भगवान शिव ने नरसिंह का चर्म धारण किया और उसके सिर को अपनी मुण्डमाला का सुमेरु बना लिया।
इस प्रकार ये कल्याणकारी चरित्र जो मैंने शिव पुराण में पढ़ा था और इसे अपने शब्दो में संक्षिप्त रूप से लिखा है।

Today I will tell you the story of Lord Sharabheshwar, which is described in Shiva Mahapuran ‘Shat Rudra Samhita’. When Lord Vishnu took the form of Narasimha for the welfare of the world and to protect his devotee Prahlad, then after killing Hiranyakashipu, Narasimha got angry, then the gods attached Prahlad to Narasimha’s heart, but Narasimha’s heart Calmed down but the anger did not subside. Then the gods took refuge in Lord Shiva on Kailasa to protect the world. Lord Shiva sent Virbhadra in the form of Bhairava manifested from his own part there. Then Virbhadra first politely explained to him that your work is now complete, you should leave this form of yours. Then Narasimha said in anger, I am the Supreme God of this world, I am independent, I will never give up this form, and I will destroy the world, I am the master of this world, all the gods are empowered by me and the creator Brahma is in my navel. Are born from lotus, go where you came from, don’t talk about public interest with me.
Then Virbhadra said, don’t you know Lord Shiva, the God of all. There is only false debate in you, which is the reason for your destruction, O Vishnu, may it not happen that only the story remains in your world, because you are proficient in destroying the world, may it happen that you only get its Dakshina. Rudra is the supreme man, you are nature, he has transfused his semen in you, from which Brahmaji was born from your navel lotus. You have killed this demon with just one art of his power. The head of your Kurma incarnation is adorned in the garland around the neck of Lord Shiva. From you till the pillar, the power of Lord Shiva is contained in everyone. If you don’t calm down, Mahabhairav Rudra’s anger will fall on you in the form of death. Hearing this, Narasimha roared furiously and ran to catch Virbhadra, then Virbhadra took a wonderful form which was very fierce, the deities started chanting Jai Jai. His form is thousand-armed, Jatadhar, Balchandra wearing, 2 wings and bird’s beak, huge and sharp teeth, weapon like thunderbolt like nails, Neelkanth, Mahabahu, with four legs and fiery like fire Roaring like the doomsday clouds, they caught hold of Narasimha, and began to tear them apart with their wings and carried them up. Praising him, he said, O God, whenever my foolish mind gets contaminated by ego, you only remove it. Then Shivji in the form of Sharabh absorbed Narasimha inside himself and the gods started praising him, then Shivji in the form of Sharabh said, just as water is contained in water, in the same way Vishnu also merged with me and merged into that Vishnu. I salute him, he is my devotee and gives boons to my devotees. Then Lord Sharab disappeared in front of everyone.
Then Lord Virbhadra skinned Narasimha and took him to Lord Shiva on Mount Kailasa, from that time onwards Lord Shiva wore Narasimha’s skin and made his head the Sumeru of his Mundamala. Thus this auspicious character which I read in Shiv Puran and wrote it briefly in my own words. 🚩 Har Har Mahadev 🚩
