पंचमुखी हनुमानजी की कथा

पंचमुखी हनुमान में है भगवान शंकर के पांच अवतारों की शक्ति!

शंकरजी के पांचमुख—तत्पुरुष, सद्योजात, वामदेव, अघोर व ईशान हैं; उन्हीं शंकरजी के अंशावतार हनुमानजी भी पंचमुखी हैं । मार्गशीर्ष (अगहन) मास की कृष्णपक्ष की अष्टमी तिथि को, पुष्य नक्षत्र में, सिंहलग्न तथा मंगल के दिन पंचमुखी हनुमानजी ने अवतार धारण किया । हनुमानजी का यह स्वरूप सभी प्रकार की सिद्धियों को देने वाला है । हनुमानजी का एकमुखी, पंचमुखी और ग्यारहमुखी स्वरूप ही अधिक प्रचलित हैं ।

हनुमानजी के पांचों मुखों के बारे में श्रीविद्यार्णव-तन्त्र में इस प्रकार कहा गया है—

पंचवक्त्रं महाभीमं त्रिपंचनयनैर्युतम् ।
बाहुभिर्दशभिर्युक्तं सर्वकाम्यार्थ सिद्धिदम् ।।

विराट्स्वरूप वाले हनुमानजी के पांचमुख, पन्द्रह नेत्र हैं और दस भुजाएं हैं जिनमें दस आयुध हैं—‘खड्ग, त्रिशूल, खटवांग, पाश, अंकुश, पर्वत, स्तम्भ, मुष्टि, गदा और वृक्ष की डाली ।

पंचमुखी हनुमानजी का पूर्व की ओर का मुख वानर का है जिसकी प्रभा करोड़ों सूर्य के समान है । वह विकराल दाढ़ों वाला है और उसकी भृकुटियां (भौंहे) चढ़ी हुई हैं।

दक्षिण की ओर वाला मुख नृसिंह भगवान का है । यह अत्यन्त उग्र तेज वाला भयानक है किन्तु शरण में आए हुए के भय को दूर करने वाला है ।

▪️ पश्चिम दिशा वाला मुख गरुड़ का है । इसकी चोंच टेढ़ी है । यह सभी नागों के विष और भूत-प्रेत को भगाने वाला है । इससे समस्त रोगों का नाश होता है ।

▪️ इनका उत्तर की ओर वाला मुख वाराह (सूकर) का है जिसका आकाश के समान कृष्णवर्ण है । इस मुख के दर्शन से पाताल में रहने वाले जीवों, सिंह व वेताल के भय का और ज्वर का नाश होता है।

▪️ पंचमुखी हनुमानजी का ऊपर की ओर उठा हुआ मुख हयग्रीव (घोड़े) का है । यह बहुत भयानक है और असुरों का संहार करने वाला है । इसी मुख के द्वारा हनुमानजी ने तारक नामक महादैत्य का वध किया था।

पंचमुखी हनुमानजी में भगवान के पांच अवतारों की शक्ति समायी हुयी है इसलिए वे किसी भी महान कार्य को करने में समर्थ हैं । पंचमुखी हनुमानजी की पूजा-अर्चना से वराह, नृसिंह, हयग्रीव, गरुड़ और शंकरजी की उपासना का फल प्राप्त हो जाता है । जैसे गरुड़जी वैकुण्ठ में भगवान विष्णु की सेवा में लगे रहते हैं वैसे ही हनुमानजी श्रीराम की सेवा में लगे रहते हैं । जैसे गरुड़की पीठ पर भगवान विष्णु बैठते हैं वैसे ही हनुमानजी की पीठ पर श्रीराम-लक्ष्मण बैठते हैं । गरुड़जी अपनी मां के लिए स्वर्ग से अमृत लाये थे, वैसे ही हनुमानजी लक्ष्मणजी के लिए संजीवनी-बूटी लेकर आए ।

हनुमानजी के पंचमुख की आराधना से मिलते हैं पांच वरदान!!!!!!!

हनुमानजी के पंचमुखी विग्रह की आराधना से पांच वरदान प्राप्त होते हैं । नरसिंहमुख की सहायता से शत्रु पर विजय, गरुड़मुख की आराधना से सभी दोषों पर विजय, वराहमुख की सहायता से समस्त प्रकार की समृद्धि तथा हयग्रीवमुख की सहायता से ज्ञान की प्राप्ति होती है। हनुमानमुख से साधक को साहस एवं आत्मविश्वास की प्राप्ति होती है ।

हनुमानजी के पांचों मुखों में तीन-तीन सुन्दर नेत्र आध्यात्मिक, आधिदैविक तथा आधिभौतिक तापों (काम, क्रोध और लोभ) से छुड़ाने वाले हैं ।

पंचमुखी हनुमानजी सभी सिद्धियों को देने वाले, सभी अमंगलों को हरने वाले तथा सभी प्रकार का मंगल करने वाले—मंगल भवन अमंगलहारी हैं ।

हनुमानजी ने क्यों धारण किए पंचमुख ?

श्रीराम और रावण के युद्ध में जब मेघनाद की मृत्यु हो गयी तब रावण धैर्य न रख सका और अपनी विजय के उपाय सोचने लगा । तब उसे अपने सहयोगी और पाताल के राक्षसराज अहिरावण की याद आई जो मां भवानी का परम भक्त होने के साथ साथ तंत्र-मंत्र का ज्ञाता था । रावण सीधे देवी मन्दिर में जाकर पूजा में तल्लीन हो गया । उसकी आराधना से आकृष्ट होकर अहिरावण वहां पहुंचा तो रावण ने उससे कहा—‘तुम किसी तरह राम और लक्ष्मण को अपनी पुरी में ले आओ और वहां उनका वध कर डालो; फिर ये वानर-भालू तो अपने-आप ही भाग जाएंगे ।’

रात्रि के समय जब श्रीराम की सेना शयन कर रही थी तब हनुमानजी ने अपनी पूंछ बढ़ाकर चारों ओर से सबको घेरे में ले लिया । अहिरावण विभीषण का वेष बनाकर अंदर प्रवेश कर गए । अहिरावण ने सोते हुए अनन्त सौन्दर्य के सागर श्रीराम-लक्ष्मण को देखा तो देखता ही रह गया । उसने अपने माया के दम पर भगवान राम की सारी सेना को निद्रा में डाल दिया तथा राम एव लक्ष्मण का अपहरण कर उन्हें पाताललोक ले गया।

आकाश में तीव्र प्रकाश से सारी वानर सेना जाग गयी । विभीषण ने यह पहचान लिया कि यह कार्य अहिरावण का है और उसने हनुमानजी को श्रीराम और लक्ष्मण की सहायता करने के लिए पाताललोक जाने को कहा ।

हनुमानजी पाताललोक की पूरी जानकारी प्राप्त कर पाताललोक पहुंचे । पाताललोक के द्वार पर उन्हें उनका पुत्र मकरध्वज मिला । हनुमानजी ने आश्चर्यचकित होकर कहा—‘हनुमान तो बाल ब्रह्मचारी हैं । तुम उनके पुत्र कैसे ?’

मकरध्वज ने कहा कि जब लंकादहन के बाद आप समुद्र में पूंछ बुझाकर स्नान कर रहे थे तब श्रम के कारण आपके शरीर से स्वेद (पसीना) झर रहा था जिसे एक मछली ने पी लिया । वह मछली पकड़कर जब अहिरावण की रसोई में लाई गयी और उसे काटा गया तो मेरा जन्म हुआ । अहिरावण ने ही मेरा पालन-पोषण किया इसलिए मैं उसके नगर की रक्षा करता हूँ । हनुमानजी का मकरध्वज से बाहुयुद्ध हुआ और वे उसे बांधकर देवी मन्दिर पहुंचे जहां श्रीराम और लक्ष्मण की बलि दी जानी थी । हनुमानजी को देखते ही देवी अदृश्य हो गयीं और उनकी जगह स्वयं रामदूत देवी के रूप में खड़े हो गए ।

उसी समय श्रीराम ने लक्ष्मण से कहा—‘आपत्ति के समय सभी प्राणी मेरा स्मरण करते हैं, किन्तु मेरी आपदाओं को दूर करने वाले तो केवल पवनकुमार ही हैं । अत: हम उन्हीं का स्मरण करें ।’

लक्ष्मणजी ने कहा—‘यहां हनुमान कहां ?’ श्रीराम ने कहा—‘पवनपुत्र कहां नहीं हैं ? वे तो पृथ्वी के कण-कण में विद्यमान है । मुझे तो देवी के रूप में भी उन्हीं के दर्शन हो रहे हैं ।’

श्रीराम के प्राणों की रक्षा के लिए हनुमानजी ने धारण किए पंचमुख!!!!!!

हनुमानजी ने वहां पांच दीपक पांच जगह पर पांच दिशाओं में रखे देखे जिसे अहिरावण ने मां भवानी की पूजा के लिए जलाया था । ऐसी मान्यता थी कि इन पांचों दीपकों को एक साथ बुझाने पर अहिरावण का वध हो जाएगा । हनुमानजी ने इसी कारण पंचमुखी रूप धरकर वे पांचों दीप बुझा दिए और अहिरावण का वध कर श्रीराम और लक्ष्मण को कंधों पर बैठाकर लंका की ओर उड़ चले ।

‘श्रीहनुमत्-महाकाव्य’ के अनुसार एक बार पांच मुख वाला राक्षस भयंकर उत्पात करने लगा । उसे ब्रह्माजी से वरदान मिला था कि उसके जैसे रूप वाला व्यक्ति ही उसे मार सकता है । देवताओं की प्रार्थना पर भगवान ने हनुमानजी को उस राक्षस को मारने की आज्ञा दी । तब हनुमानजी ने वानर, नरसिंह, वाराह, हयग्रीव और गरुड़—इन पंचमुख को धारण कर राक्षस का अंत कर दिया ।

पंचमुखी हनुमानजी का ध्यान!!!!!!!

पंचास्यमच्युतमनेक विचित्रवीर्यं
वक्त्रं सुशंखविधृतं कपिराज वर्यम् ।
पीताम्बरादि मुकुटैरभि शोभितांगं
पिंगाक्षमाद्यमनिशंमनसा स्मरामि ।। (श्रीविद्यार्णव-तन्त्र)

पंचमुखी हनुमान पीताम्बर और मुकुट से अलंकृत हैं । इनके नेत्र पीले रंग के हैं । इसलिए इन्हें ‘पिंगाक्ष’ कहा जाता है । हनुमानजी के नेत्र अत्यन्त करुणापूर्ण और संकट और चिन्ताओं को दूर कर भक्तों को सुख देने वाले हैं । हनुमानजी के नेत्रों की यही विशेषता है कि वे अपने स्वामी श्रीराम के चरणों के दर्शन के लिए सदैव लालायित रहते हैं।

उनका द्वादशाक्षर मन्त्र है— ‘ॐ हं हनुमते रुद्रात्मकाय हुं फट् ।’

किसी भी पवित्र स्थान पर हनुमानजी के द्वादशाक्षर मन्त्र का एक लाख जप एवं आराधना करने से साधक को सफलता अवश्य मिलती है । ऐसा माना जाता है कि पुरश्चरण पूरा होने पर हनुमानजी अनुष्ठान करने वाले के सामने आधी रात को स्वयं दर्शन देते हैं ।

महाकाय महाबल महाबाहु महानख,
महानद महामुख महा मजबूत है।
भनै कवि ‘मान’ महाबीर हनुमान महा-
देवन को देव महाराज रामदूत है।।

Panchmukhi Hanuman has the power of five incarnations of Lord Shankar!

The five faces of Shankar are Tatpurush, Sadyojat, Vamadeva, Aghor and Ishaan; Hanumanji, an incarnation of the same Shankar, is also Panchmukhi. On the Ashtami date of Krishna Paksha of Margashirsha (Aghan) month, in Pushya Nakshatra, on the day of Sinhalagna and Mars, Panchamukhi Hanuman incarnated. This form of Hanumanji is the giver of all kinds of siddhis. The Ekmukhi, Panchmukhi and Elevenmukhi forms of Hanumanji are more popular.

About the five faces of Hanumanji, it is said in the Srividyarnava-tantra as follows-

He had five faces and was very frightening and had three or five eyes.
It is endowed with ten arms and bestows the fulfillment of all desires.

Hanuman ji in the form of Virat has five faces, fifteen eyes and ten arms in which there are ten weapons – ‘Khadga, Trishul, Khatwang, Pash, Ankush, Mountain, Pillar, Mushti, Mace and the branch of the tree.

The east facing face of Panchmukhi Hanumanji is that of a monkey, whose radiance is like that of crores of suns. He has huge beards and has raised eyebrows.

The south facing face is of Lord Narasimha. It is terrible with a very fierce radiance, but it removes the fear of those who have taken refuge.

The west facing face is of Garuda. Its beak is crooked. It is the one who drives away the poison and ghosts of all the serpents. It destroys all diseases.

️ His north-facing face is that of a Varaha (boar) who has a black color similar to that of the sky. The sight of this mouth destroys the fear of the creatures living in the underworld, the lion and the Vetal and the fever.

The raised face of Panchmukhi Hanumanji is that of Hayagriva (horse). It is very terrible and is going to kill the Asuras. It was through this mouth that Hanuman ji killed a great demon named Tarak.

Panchmukhi Hanumanji has the power of five incarnations of God, so he is capable of doing any great work. Worshiping Panchmukhi Hanuman ji results in the worship of Varaha, Narasimha, Hayagriva, Garuda and Shankar. Just as Garudji is engaged in the service of Lord Vishnu in Vaikuntha, similarly Hanumanji is engaged in the service of Shri Ram. As Lord Vishnu sits on the back of Garud, similarly Shri Ram and Lakshman sit on the back of Hanumanji. Garudji brought nectar from heaven for his mother, similarly Hanumanji brought Sanjeevani-booti for Lakshmanji.

Worshiping the Panchmukh of Hanumanji gives five boons!!!!!!!

Worshiping the Panchamukhi Deity of Hanumanji gives five boons. With the help of Narasimhamukh, victory over the enemy, by worshiping Garudamukh, victory over all defects, with the help of Varahmukh all kinds of prosperity and with the help of Hayagrivamukh, knowledge is attained. The seeker gets courage and self-confidence from Hanumanmukh.

In the five faces of Hanumanji, three beautiful eyes are the deliverers from spiritual, adhidaivik and adhibhautik heats (kama, anger and greed).

Panchmukhi Hanumanji is the giver of all siddhis, the destroyer of all evils and the doer of all kinds of auspiciousness – Mangal Bhavan is a mangalhari.

Why did Hanumanji wear Panchmukh?

When Meghnad died in the battle of Shri Ram and Ravana, Ravana could not keep patience and started thinking of ways to win his victory. Then he remembered his associate and the demon king Ahiravan of Hades, who was a great devotee of Maa Bhavani as well as a knower of tantra-mantras. Ravana went straight to the Devi temple and got engrossed in worship. When Ahiravana reached there, attracted by his worship, Ravana said to him- ‘You must somehow bring Rama and Lakshmana to your Puri and kill them there; Then these monkey-bears will run away on their own.

During the night when Shri Ram’s army was sleeping, Hanumanji raised his tail and surrounded everyone from all sides. Ahiravana entered inside disguised as Vibhishana. When Ahiravan saw the ocean of eternal beauty, Shri Ram-Lakshman while sleeping, he kept looking. On the strength of his illusion, he put the entire army of Lord Rama to sleep and kidnapped Rama and Lakshmana and took them to Hades.

The whole monkey army was awakened by the intense light in the sky. Vibhishana recognized that this was the work of Ahiravana and asked Hanumanji to go to Patalloka to help Sri Rama and Lakshmana.

Hanumanji reached Patallok after getting complete information about Patallok. He found his son Makardhwaj at the door of Patallok. Hanumanji was surprised and said- ‘Hanuman is a child celibate. How are you his son?’

Makardhwaj said that when after burning Lanka you were taking a bath in the sea with your tail extinguished, then sweat (sweat) was flowing from your body due to labor, which was drank by a fish. When that fish was caught and brought to Ahiravana’s kitchen and it was harvested, I was born. Ahiravan took care of me, so I protect his city. Hanumanji had a battle with Makardhwaj and tied it up and reached the Devi temple where Shri Ram and Lakshman were to be sacrificed. On seeing Hanumanji, the goddess became invisible and in her place, Ramdoot himself stood in the form of a goddess.

At the same time Shri Ram said to Lakshmana – ‘All beings remember me at the time of objection, but only Pawan Kumar is the one who removes my calamities. So let us remember him.

Lakshmanji said – ‘Where is Hanuman here?’ Shri Ram said – ‘Where is not the son of Pawan? They are present in every particle of the earth. I am seeing her in the form of a goddess also.

To protect the life of Shri Ram, Hanumanji wore Panchmukh!!!!!!

Hanumanji saw five lamps placed there at five places in five directions, which Ahiravan had lit for the worship of Maa Bhavani. It was believed that if these five lamps were extinguished together, Ahiravana would be killed. For this reason, Hanumanji took the form of Panchmukhi and extinguished all the five lamps and after killing Ahiravan, carrying Shri Ram and Lakshmana on his shoulders, flew towards Lanka.

According to ‘Shrihanumat-Epic’, once a five-faced demon started causing terrible havoc. He had got a boon from Brahma that only a person of his form could kill him. On the request of the gods, the Lord ordered Hanuman to kill the demon. Then Hanumanji put an end to the demon by wearing the five-faced monkey, Narasimha, Varaha, Hayagriva and Garuda.

Meditation of Panchmukhi Hanumanji!!!!!!!

Five-faced, infallible, with many strange semen
His face was like a beautiful conchshell, O king of monkeys.
He was adorned with yellow robes and crowns
I always remember the beginning of the pink eyes in my mind. (Sri Vidyarnava-Tantra)

Panchmukhi Hanuman is adorned with Pitambar and Mukut. His eyes are yellow in colour. That is why they are called ‘Pingaksha’. Hanumanji’s eyes are very compassionate and give happiness to the devotees by removing troubles and worries. The specialty of Hanumanji’s eyes is that he always yearns to see the feet of his lord Shri Ram.

His twelve-syllable mantra is— ‘Om Hum Hanuman Rudratmakaaya Hum Phat.’

One lakh chanting and worshiping Hanumanji’s Dwadshakshar mantra at any holy place definitely gives success to the seeker. It is believed that on completion of Purashcharan, Hanumanji himself appears in front of the performer at midnight.
