जब युधिष्ठिर अपनी माता और भाइयों को साथ लिए वनवास कर रहे थे, तब उन्हें देखने के लिए श्री कृष्ण जी वन में गये। वहाँ पाण्डवों ने बड़े प्रेम से श्री कृष्ण जी की पूजा की और युधिष्ठर ने कहा – हे जगन्नाथ ! यदि आप मुझ पर प्रसन्न हैं तो मैं आपसे कुछ पूछता हूँ।
हे देवेश ! यह तो आपको ज्ञात ही है कि मैं राज्यभ्रष्ट हूँ। इससे आप मुझे ऐसा कोई व्रत बतलाइये जो लक्ष्मी की प्राप्तिकारक हो और पुत्र-पौत्र को बढ़ाने वाला हो।
श्री कृष्ण जी बोले — हे राजन ! तुम इस बात को पूछते हो तो सुनो, मैं गुप्त से भी गुप्त व्रत को तुम्हें बतलाता हूँ। राम नाम से बढ़कर मोक्षदायक और लक्ष्मी-वर्धक कोई व्रत नहीं है।यह राम नाम तेजोरूप और अव्यक्त है। राम नाम को जपने वाला राम का ही रूप हो जाता है। इसे स्वयं राम ने ही हनुमान जी से कहा था।
युधिष्ठर बोले — हे रुक्मिणीपते ! इस बात को श्री रामचंद्र जी ने हनुमान जी से कब कहा था?
श्री कृष्ण जी बोले –रामावतार में जब रावण सीता को हर ले गया था, तब रामचंद्र जी ने हनुमान को बुलाकर कहा कि, हे महावीर ! तुम सीता को खोजने के लिए दक्षिण दिशा में भ्रमण करने जाओ और जैसा समाचार हो, शीघ्र दो।
श्री हनुमान जी बोले — हे रघुनाथ! दक्षिण दिशा में तो विशाल सागर है और बहुत से राक्षस रहते हैं, वहाँ मेरा क्या बल लगेगा?
श्री रामचंद्र जी बोले — हे हनुमान ! रावण आदि राक्षसों का निवारण करने वाला वह अत्यंत सरल मन्त्र मैं तुम्हें बतलाता हूँ, जिसकी सहायता से तुम सर्वत्र विजयी होओगे।
हनुमान जी बोले — हे प्रभो ! अवश्य ही आप हमें उस मन्त्र को पूर्णतया बतलाइये।
हनुमान के इस प्रकार प्रार्थना करने पर राम ने उन्हें एकांत में बुलाया।फिर उनके दाहिने कान में “श्री राम ” इस नाम का उपदेश दिया । हनुमान ने उस नाम को एक लाख बार जपा और तब वे दक्षिण दिशा को प्रस्थित हुए।उसी मन्त्र के प्रभाव से वे दुर्गम सागर को पार कर लंका में जा पहुँचे। वहाँ उन्होंने बड़ी खोज की।इतने पर भी सीता का पता न लगा। तब वे अशोक वाटिका में गये, जहाँ सीता एक वृक्ष के नीचे बैठी हुई थीं ।उन्होंने शीघ्रता से समीप जाकर प्रणाम किया । फिर दण्ड के समान पृथ्वी पर पड़ गये।उस समय उन्होंने बालक का रूप धारण कर रखा था ।उन्हें भूमि पर पड़े देखकर सीता ने कहा — हे बालक! तुम कहाँ से आये हो? किसके बालक हो?
हनुमान बोले — मेरी माता सीता और पिता श्री रामचंद्र जी हैं। मैं उन्हीं के समीप से आया हूँ। मेरा नाम हनुमान है। इस मुद्रिका को आप लीजिए। उसे देखकर सीता को यह ज्ञात हुआ कि यह अँगूठी श्री रामचंद्र जी की है तो उन्हें बड़ी प्रसन्नता हुई। हनुमान ने कहा — माता! मुझे बड़ी भूख लगी है, इस वन में बड़े मधुर फल लगे हैं। यदि आप की आज्ञा हो, तो मैं इन सब का भक्षण कर जाऊँ।
सीता बोली — हे हनुमान ! इस वन का अधिपति रावण है। तुम ऐसे शक्तिशाली तो नहीं हो। फिर कैसे इन फलों को भक्षण कर सकोगे?
हनुमान बोले — मेरे हृदयान्तर में ‘श्रीराम’ का प्रबल शस्त्र है। उससे मैं सब राक्षसों को तृण के समान जानता हूँ। तब उनकी इस उक्ति को सुनकर सीता जी ने आज्ञा दे दी। हनुमान ने फल खाये, वृक्षों को नष्ट किया। समाचार सुनकर बहुत से राक्षस वहाँ आ पहुँचे। हनुमान ने उन्हें सबसे भीषण युद्ध किया। हनुमान ने श्री राम मन्त्र के प्रभाव से उनके बल का दलन कर लंका को जला दिया। सीता जी ने श्री रामचंद्र जी को देने के लिए एक आभूषण दिया। उसे लेकर हनुमान श्री रामचंद्र जी के पास लौट आये। उस अलंकार को लेकर और हनुमान की बातें सुनकर रामचंद्र जी बहुत प्रसन्न हुए।
हे महाराज युधिष्ठर ! यह सब राम नाम की महिमा है। इसलिए हे राजेन्द्र ! तुम राम का नाम जपा करो।
युधिष्ठुर बोले — इसके जप की क्या विधि है और इसके पुरश्चरण का क्या फल है?
श्री कृष्ण जी बोले — हे राजेन्द्र ! स्नान करके तुलसी की माला लेकर पवित्र स्थान में जप करे, अथवा किसी पुस्तक पर लिखे अथवा हृदय में स्मरण करे। एक करोड़ अथवा एक लाख की संख्या में उसकी परिसमाप्ति करे। अनेक मन्त्र और विधियाँ हैं। हे युधिष्ठर! उनमें से एक उत्तम मन्त्र मैं तुमसे कहता हूँ। पहले ‘श्री’ शब्द, मध्य में ‘जय’ शब्द और अन्त में दो ‘जय’ शब्द को प्रयुक्त कर एक मन्त्र हुआ। यथा – श्री राम जय राम जय जय राम। यदि इस मन्त्र को इक्कीस बार जपा जावे तो करोड़ों ब्रह्महत्या का पाप नष्ट हो जाता है। बुद्धिमान को उचित है कि वह इसी मन्त्र से एक लाख जप करे। पश्चात सविधि उद्यापन करे। जप की अपेक्षा राम नाम लिखने में सौ गुना अधिक पुण्य है। इस प्रकार प्रत्येक लाख मन्त्र जप लेने पर उद्यापन का पृथक कार्य करे।
एक भूत-समन्वित भविष्य की कथा। – वनवास काल में महाराज युधिष्ठिर को श्री कृष्ण ने दी राम नाम की दीक्षा —
When Yudhishthira was exile with his mother and brothers, Shri Krishna went to the forest to see him. There the Pandavas worshiped Shri Krishna ji with great love and Yudhishthra said – O Jagannath! If you are happy with me, I ask you something.
Hey Devesh! It is known to you that I am a state of state. With this, tell me a fast that is the receiver of Lakshmi and will increase the son-grandson.
Shri Krishna ji said – O Rajan! If you ask this, listen, I tell you the secret fast even from the secret. There is no fasting more salvation and Lakshmi-sustained by the name of Ram. This Ram name is Tejorupa and Avyakta. The name of Rama changes the name of Rama. Rama himself said this to Hanuman ji.
Yudhishthra said – O Rukminipate! When did Shri Ramchandra ji say this to Hanuman ji? Shri Krishna ji said -When Ravana took Sita in Ramavatar, then Ramchandra ji called Hanuman and said, O Mahavira! You go to travel in the south direction to find Sita and give it soon. Shri Hanuman ji said – O Raghunath! There is a huge ocean in the south direction and many demons live, what will be my strength? Shri Ramchandra ji said – O Hanuman! I tell you that very simple mantra, which prevents Ravana etc. demons, with the help of which you will be victorious everywhere. Hanuman ji said – O Lord! Of course, you should tell us completely that mantra.
On praying for Hanuman in this way, Rama called him in solitude. Then in his right ear, “Shri Ram” preached this name. Hanuman chanted the name one million times and then he was situated in the south direction. With the influence of the same mantra, he crossed the inaccessible ocean and reached Lanka. There he made a big discovery. Sita was not detected even when it was. Then he went to Ashoka Vatika, where Sita was sitting under a tree. She quickly went near and bowed down. Then he fell on the earth like punishment. At that time he had taken the form of a child. Seeing him lying on the ground, Sita said – O boy! Where have you come from? Whose child is there? Hanuman said – My mother is Sita and father Shri Ramchandra ji. I have come from them. My name is Hanuman. Take this mudrika. Seeing her, Sita came to know that if this ring belongs to Shri Ramchandra ji, she was very happy. Hanuman said – Mother! I am very hungry, this forest has very sweet fruits. If you are allowed, then I will devour all these. Sita said – O Hanuman! Ravana is the ruler of this forest. You are not such powerful. Then how will you be able to eat these fruits? Hanuman said – There is a strong weapon of ‘Shri Ram’ in my heart. With this, I know all the demons like a trinity. Then Sita ji gave orders after hearing this statement. Hanuman ate fruits, destroyed trees. Many demons came there after hearing the news. Hanuman fought him the most fierce battle. Hanuman burnt Lanka by the influence of Shri Ram Mantra and burnt Lanka. Sita ji gave an ornament to give to Shri Ramchandra ji. Hanuman returned to Shri Ramchandra ji with him. Ramchandra ji was very happy to hear Hanuman about that ornament.
Hey Maharaj Yudhishthra! All this is the glory of Rama. That’s why O Rajendra! You chant the name of Rama. Yudhishthur said – What is the method of chanting its chanting and what is the fruit of its award? Shri Krishna ji said – O Rajendra! Take a bath and chant a garland of basil in the holy place, or write on a book or remember it in the heart. Get up to one crore or one lakh number of it. There are many mantras and methods. Hey Yudhishthra! One of them tells you the best mantra. First the word ‘Shri’, the word ‘Jai’ in the middle and finally two ‘Jai’ was used to be a mantra. As such – Shri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram. If this mantra is chanted twenty -one times, then the sin of crores of Brahmas is destroyed. It is appropriate to the intelligent to chant one lakh from this mantra. After this, the results should be emerged. It is a hundred times more virtuous in writing Ram’s name than chanting. In this way, after chanting every lakh mantra, do separate work of euphoria.
