सत्यके विविध आयाम

आश्रमके तीन झेन-साधक बाहर टहल रहे थे, हवा तेज थी और आश्रमकी ध्वजा तेजीसे फड़फड़ा रही थी। एक साधक बोल पड़ा-‘धर्मध्वजा फड़फड़ा रही है।’ दूसरेने कहा-‘ध्वजा तो केवल फड़फड़ाती नजर आ रही है, असलमें फड़फड़ा तो हवा रही है।’तीसरा कैसे चुप रहता, बोल पड़ा-‘ध्वजा दीख रही है, हवा महसूस हो रही है, पर असली फड़फड़ाहट तो मनमें हो रही है।’
उनमें से दो तालाबकी ओर बढ़ चले। रंग-बिरंगी मछलियोंको देख एक बोला-‘मछलियाँ कैसे आनन्दसे तैर रही हैं।’ तब ‘मछली हुए बिना तुम कैसे कह सकते हो कि वे आनन्दमें हैं’-दूसरेने जिज्ञासा की । ‘तुम भी तो ‘मैं’ नहीं हो, कैसे जान सकते हो कि मैंने ऐसा कैसे कहा’ – पहले साधकका उत्तर था ।

Three Zen monks from the hermitage were walking outside, the wind was strong and the hermitage flag was fluttering fast. A seeker said – ‘The flag of religion is fluttering.’ The second said – ‘The flag only seems to be fluttering, in fact it is fluttering in the wind.’ ‘
Two of them headed towards the pond. Seeing the colorful fish, one said – ‘How happily the fish are swimming.’ Then ‘without being a fish how can you say they are in bliss’ – the other inquired. ‘You are also not ‘I’, how can you know how I said this’ – was the answer of the first seeker.
