Be gentle, not harsh!
A Chinese sage has become very old. Seeing that the last time has come near, he called all his devotees and disciples to him. Said to everyone, ‘Brother, at least look inside my mouth! How many teeth are left?’
Every disciple looked inside the mouth. Everyone said ‘ Maharaj! Your teeth have been worn out many years ago, now you do not have a single tooth in your mouth.’
The saint said – ‘Does the tongue exist?’
Everyone said – ‘Yes.’
Saint said – ‘ How did this thing happen? The tongue was present even at the time of birth. The teeth came far behind him. The one who came behind should have gone behind. How did the teeth go in the first place?’
The disciples said – ‘We do not understand the reason for this.’
Then the saint said in a low voice – ‘I have called you to tell this. See! This voice is present till now because it does not have hardness and these teeth were finished first even after coming back, because they were very hard. This harshness was the reason for their end. That’s why my children! If you want to live long, be gentle, don’t be harsh!’
