कागज – पत्र देखना था, रमणी नहीं

प्रत्येक महान् पुरुषके यशका बीज उसके शुद्धाचरणमें ही समाया होता है। सन् 1896 सालकी घटना है, श्री ल0 रा0 पांगारकर और लोकमान्य तिलक बैठे हुए बातचीत कर रहे थे।

इसी बीच किसी बड़े रईसकी पत्नी कुछ कागज पत्र और नीचेकी अदालतका निर्णय लेकर अपील तैयार कर देनेके निमित्त तिलकजीके पास आयी। लोकमान्य डेढ़ घंटेतक उन कागज-पत्रोंको देखते रहे और साथही उस रमणीसे आवश्यक प्रश्न भी करते रहे। रमणीका सारा मामला समझकर उन्होंने उससे कहा- ‘आप आठ दिन बाद आइये, तबतक मैं अपील तैयार किये देता हूँ। आप अभी जा सकती हैं। ‘ रमणी चली गयी। आश्चर्यकी बात यह कि रमणी डेढ़ घंटे तक दरवाजेके बीच खड़ी थी और तिलक महाराजने उससे प्रश्नोत्तर भी किये। पर उन्होंने एक बार भी सिर उठाकर नहीं देखा कि रमणी कैसी है। -गो0 न0 बै0

Meanwhile, the wife of a big nobleman came to Tilakji with some papers and the decision of the lower court to prepare an appeal. Lokmanya kept looking at those papers for one and a half hour and also kept asking necessary questions to that Ramani. Understanding the whole matter of Ramani, he told her- ‘You come after eight days, till then I will prepare the appeal. You can go now. ‘ Ramani left. The surprising thing is that Ramani stood in front of the door for one and a half hour and Tilak Maharaj asked her questions and answers. But he did not raise his head even once to see how Ramani was. -go no bae
