इंगलैंडको प्रसिद्ध संस्था ‘रॉयल एकडेमी की चित्र सजानेवाली समितिको बैठक हो रही थी। एकडेमी हालमें सुसज्जित करनेके लिये देश-विदेशके चित्रकारोंने अपने श्रेष्ठतम चित्र भेजे थे। जितने चित्र सजाये जा सकते थे वे सजा दिये गये थे, अब एक चित्र भी लगानेको स्थान नहीं था। किंतु एक नवीन चित्रकारका चित्र सामने था और सुन्दर था। एक सदस्यने कहा ‘चित्र तो उत्तम है; किंतु इसे अब लगाया कहाँ जाय ?’इंगलैंडके विख्यात चित्रकार टर्नर भी उस समितिके सदस्य थे, वे बोले-‘माननीय सदस्योंको चित्र पसंद आयेगा तो उसे लगानेके स्थानका अभाव नहीं होगा ?’

‘आप कहाँ लगायेंगे उसे ?’ सदस्योंने पूछा। टर्नर उठे, उन्होंने स्वयं अपना एक चित्र उतारा और उस चित्रको वहाँ लगा दिया। टर्नरका चित्र उस चित्रसे बहुत उत्तम था; किंतु उन्होंने कहा – ‘नवीन कलाकारको प्रोत्साहन प्राप्त होना चाहिये ।’ – सु0 सिं0

The picture decorating committee of the famous institution ‘Royal Academy’ of England was having a meeting. Painters from India and abroad had sent their best paintings to decorate the academy hall. All the pictures that could be decorated were decorated, now there was no place to put even a single picture. But a new painter’s picture was in front and it was beautiful.
