वरणीय दुःख है, सुख नहीं

सुख के माथे सिल परौ जो नाम हृदय से जाय।

बलिहारी वा दुःख की जो पल-पल नाम रटाय ॥

महाभारतका युद्ध समाप्त हो चुका था। विजयी धर्मराज सिंहासनासीन हो चुके थे। अश्वत्थामाने पाण्डवोंका वंश ही नष्ट करनेके लिये ब्रह्मास्त्रका प्रयोग किया; किंतु जनार्दनने पाण्डवोंकी और उत्तराके गर्भस्थ शिशुकी भी उससे रक्षा कर दी। अब वे श्रीकृष्णचन्द्र द्वारका जाना चाहते थे। इसी समय देवी कुन्ती उनके पास आयीं। वे प्रार्थना करने लगीं। बड़ी अद्भुत प्रार्थना की उन्होंने अपनी प्रार्थनामें उन्होंने ऐसी चीज माँगी, जो कदाचित् ही कोई माँगनेका साहस करे। उन्होंने माँगा-

विपदः सन्तु नः शश्वत् तत्र तत्र जगद्गुरो ।

भवतो दर्शनं यत् स्यादपुनर्भवदर्शनम्॥

(श्रीमद्भा0 1। 8 । 25)

‘हे जगद्गुरो ! जीवनमें बार-बार हमपर विपत्तियाँ ही आती रहें। क्योंकि जिनका दर्शन होनेसे जीव फिर संसारमें नहीं आता, उन आपका दर्शन तो उन (विपत्तियों) में ही होता है। ‘

यह देवी कुन्तीका अपना अनुभव है। उनका जीवन विपत्तियोंमें ही बीता और विपत्तियाँ भगवान्का वरदान हैं, उनमें वे मङ्गलमय निरन्तर चित्तमें निवास करते हैं, यह उन्होंने भली प्रकार अनुभव किया। अबउनके पुत्रोंका राज्य निष्कण्टक हो गया। उन्हें लगा कि विपत्तिरूपी निधि अब हाथसे चली गयी। इसीसे श्यामसुन्दरसे विपत्तियोंका वरदान माँगा उन्होंने ।प्रमादी सुखी जीवन धिक्कारके योग्य है। धन्य है वह विपद्ग्रस्त जीवनका दुःखपूरित क्षण, जिसमें वे अखिलेश्वर स्मरण आते हैं। – सु0 सिं0 (श्रीमद्भागवत 1।8)

Bhavato darshan yat syadapunarbhavdarshanam ॥
(Shrimadbha0 1. 8. 25)
‘O Jagadguru! May calamities continue to befall us again and again in life. Because seeing those, the soul does not come back to the world, you are seen only in those (calamities). ,
This is Goddess Kuntika’s own experience. His life was spent in calamities and calamities are God’s boon, he experienced this very well that he resides auspiciously in his mind. Now the kingdom of his sons has become flawless. They felt that the calamity-like fund has now gone out of hand. That’s why he asked Shyamsundar for the boon of calamities. A carefree happy life is worthy of curse. Blessed is that sad moment of distressed life, in which Akhileshwar is remembered. – Su 0 Sin 0 (Shrimad Bhagwat 1.8)
