सत्यकी शक्तिका अद्भुत चमत्कार

स्काटलैंडके लोगोंने इंगलैंडके राजाके विरुद्ध विद्रोह किया। विद्रोहके असफल हो जानेपर विद्रोहियोंको बड़ी निर्दयतापूर्वक दण्डित किया गया। लोग कतार में खड़े किये और गोली से उड़ा दिये जाते थे। एक बार एक पंद्रहवर्षीय लड़का गोलीसे उड़ाये जानेके लिये कतारमें खड़ा किया गया। सेनापतिको उस बालकपर दया आयी। उसने कहा ‘बच्चे! यदि तुम क्षमा माँग लो तो तुम मृत्यु – दण्डसे बच सकते हो।’ लड़केने क्षमा माँगनेसे इनकार कर दिया। इसपर सेनापतिने लड़केसे कहा- ‘मैं तुम्हें चौबीस घंटेकी छुट्टी देता हूँ। तुम्हारा कोई प्रिय जन हो तो जाकर उससे मिल आओ।’ लड़का अपनी अकेली माँसे मिलने घर चला गया। जाकर देखा कि माँ बेहोश पड़ी है। माँको होशमें ले आनेपर कहा, ‘माँ! मैं आ गया हूँ।’ अपने एकलौते बेटेका मुँह देखकर और यह सोचकर कि पुत्रकी जानबच गयी है, माँको अपार हर्ष हुआ । उसने बालकको गोदमें बिठाकर उसे जी भरकर प्यार किया। समय समाप्त होता जानकर बालक जानेकी तैयारी करने लगा। माँने पूछा, ‘बेटा! कहाँ जाते हो?’ बालककी आँखों में आँसू आ गये। हृदयको सँभालकर उत्तर दिया, ‘माँ! मुझे चौबीस घंटेकी छुट्टी मिली थी। मृत्यदण्ड पानेके लिये कैम्पको जाता हूँ। ईश्वर तुम्हारा रक्षक है।’ माँको कुछ कहनेका अवसर दिये बिना ही बालक घरसे निकल गया और ठीक समयपर सेनापतिके पास पहुँच गया। सेनापतिको उस बालकके लौटनेकी आशा न थी। बालककी सचाईसे सेनापतिपर इतना प्रभाव पड़ा कि उसने तत्काल उसकी मुक्तिकी आज्ञा जारी कर दी
वस्तुतः सत्यसे चरित्रमें बल आता, मनुष्यका विश्वास बढ़ता और कठोर से कठोर हृदयमें भी कोमलता और दयाका संचार हो जाता है।

The people of Scotland rebelled against the king of England. When the rebellion failed, the rebels were punished very mercilessly. People were made to stand in queues and shot. Once a fifteen year old boy was made to stand in line to be shot. The commander felt pity on that child. He said ‘Child! If you apologise, you can escape the death penalty.’ The boy refused to apologise. On this the commander said to the boy- ‘I give you leave for twenty-four hours. If you have someone dear to you, go and meet him.’ The boy went home to meet his lonely mother. Went and saw that the mother was lying unconscious. On bringing mother to her senses, she said, ‘Mother! I have arrived.’ Seeing the face of her only son and thinking that the son’s life has been saved, the mother was overjoyed. She made the child sit in her lap and loved him with all her heart. Knowing that time was running out, the child started preparing to leave. Mother asked, ‘ Son! Where do you go?’ Tears welled up in the boy’s eyes. Taking care of his heart, he replied, ‘ Mother! I got 24 hours leave. I go to the camp to get the death penalty. God is your protector.’ Without giving the mother a chance to say anything, the boy left the house and reached the commander in time. The commander had no hope of the boy’s return. The commander was so impressed by the boy’s honesty that he immediately issued orders for his release.
In fact, truth brings strength to the character, man’s faith increases and even the harshest heart becomes soft and compassionate.
