महाराज दशरथ को जब संतान प्राप्ति नहीं हो रही थी तब वो बड़े दुःखी रहते थे पर ऐसे समय में उनको एक ही बात से हौंसला मिलता था जो कभी उन्हें आशाहीन नहीं होने देता था और वह था श्रवण के पिता का श्राप
दशरथ जब-जब दुःखी होते थे तो उन्हें श्रवण के पिता का दिया श्राप याद आ जाता था ।
[ कालिदास ने रघुवंशम में इसका वर्णन किया है ]
श्रवण के पिता ने ये श्राप दिया था कि जैसे मैं पुत्र वियोग में तड़प-तड़प के मर रहा हूँ वैसे ही तू भी तड़प-तड़प कर मरेगा ।
दशरथ को पता था कि ये श्राप अवश्य फलीभूत होगा और इसका मतलब है कि मुझे इस जन्म में तो जरूर पुत्र प्राप्त होगा ,तभी तो उसके शोक में मैं तड़प के मरूँगा।
यानि यह श्राप दशरथ के लिए संतान प्राप्ति का सौभाग्य लेकर आया
ऐसी ही एक घटना सुग्रीव के साथ भी हुई ।
वाल्मीकि रामायण में वर्णन है कि सुग्रीव जब माता सीता की खोज में वानर वीरों को पृथ्वी की अलग अलग दिशाओं में भेज रहे थे ,तो उसके साथ-साथ उन्हें ये भी बता रहे थे कि किस दिशा में तुम्हें कौन सा स्थान या देश मिलेगा और किस दिशा में तुम्हें जाना चाहिए या नहीं जाना चाहिये ।
प्रभु श्रीराम सुग्रीव का ये भगौलिक ज्ञान देखकर हतप्रभ थे ,उन्होंने सुग्रीव से पूछा कि सुग्रीव तुमको ये सब कैसे पता ?
तो सुग्रीव ने उनसे कहा कि मैं बाली के भय से जब मारा-मारा फिर रहा था तब पूरी पृथ्वी पर कहीं शरण न मिली और इस चक्कर में मैंने पूरी पृथ्वी छान मारी और इसी दौरान मुझे सारे भूगोल का ज्ञान हो गया ।
अब अगर सुग्रीव पर ये संकट न आया होता तो उन्हें भूगोल का ज्ञान नहीं होता और माता जानकी को खोजना कितना कठिन हो जाता ।
इसीलिए किसी ने बड़ा सुंदर कहा है –
अनुकूलता भोजन है, प्रतिकूलता विटामिन है और चुनौतियाँ वरदान है और जो उनके अनुसार व्यवहार करें वही पुरुषार्थी है ।
ईश्वर की तरफ से मिलने वाला हर एक पुष्प अगर वरदान है तो हर एक काँटा भी वरदान ही समझें मतलब अगर आज मिले सुख से आप खुश हो तो कभी अगर कोई दुख,विपदा, अड़चन आ जाये तो घबरायें नहीं क्या पता वो अगले किसी सुख की तैयारी हो ।

Maharaj Dashrath was very sad when he could not get a child, but in such times he was encouraged by only one thing which never let him lose hope and that was the curse of Shravan’s father.
Whenever Dasaratha was sad, he remembered the curse given by Shravan’s father.
[Kalidas describes this in Raghuvansam]
Shravan’s father had cursed that just like I am dying of agony in separation from my son, in the same way you too will die in agony.
Dashrath knew that this curse would definitely be fruitful and it means that I would definitely get a son in this birth, only then I would die in agony in his mourning.
That is, this curse brought the fortune of having a child for Dasaratha.
A similar incident happened with Sugriva as well.
It is described in Valmiki Ramayana that when Sugriva was sending the monkey heroes to different directions of the earth in search of Mother Sita, along with that he was also telling them that in which direction you will find which place or country and in which direction you will find it. In the direction you should or should not go.
Lord Shriram was astonished to see this geographical knowledge of Sugriva, he asked Sugriva that Sugriva, how do you know all this?
So Sugriva told him that when I was roaming around in fear of Bali, I could not find shelter anywhere on the whole earth and in this process I searched the whole earth and during this time I came to know about all the geography.
Now, if Sugriva had not faced this crisis, he would not have had the knowledge of geography and how difficult it would have been to find Mata Janaki.
That’s why someone has said very beautiful –
Favoritism is food, adversity is vitamin and challenges are boon and one who behaves accordingly is a man.
If every flower you get from God is a boon, then consider every thorn as a boon, that is, if you are happy with the happiness you get today, then if any sorrow, calamity, obstacle comes, don’t worry, who knows it will be of some other happiness. Be prepared
