यह गीत सही मायने में धर्म का ही संदेश देती है । धर्म चर्चा का नहीं, बल्कि चर्या का विषय है। धर्म एक रथ है, जिसकी मंजिल ईश्वर की प्राप्ति है। दया, प्रेम, आस्था और भक्ति उस रथ के पहिए हैं। सद्विचार, संकल्प, साधन और सत्कर्म उसके घोड़े हैं। सत्य और ज्ञान उसके दो प्रकाशदीप हैं।
संस्कारित मन उसका सारथी और मनुष्य की आत्मा उस रथ का रथी है। यानी धर्म वह रथ है, जो आत्मा को परमात्मा से मिलाता है। जीवन के चार पुरुषार्थो में इसे पहला स्थान दिया गया है।
आज के परिवेश में मनुष्य धर्म की चादर ओढ़कर कई बार आडंबर कर बैठता है, जो समाज के लिए घातक है। हम भूल जाते हैं कि धर्म का फल मनुष्य को तभी प्राप्त होता है, जब व्यक्ति निष्ठापूर्वक धर्म का आचरण करता है। जब वह दया, प्रेम, करुणा आदि गुणों को जीवन में अमल में लाकर मानव सेवा में तत्पर होता है। जो कार्य मानवता के कल्याण के लिए हो, उसी का दूसरा नाम धर्म है।
जो व्यक्ति धार्मिक है, जिसकी वृत्तियां श्रेष्ठ हैं, उसे परमात्म की अनुभूति में देर नहीं लगती है। धर्म है गिरतों को उठाना, भूखे को भोजन कराना, प्यासे को पानी पिलाना। धर्म वह नहीं, जो सिर्फ धार्मिक स्थलों पर पूजा-पाठ के द्वारा ही दिख सकता है, बल्कि इसे नित्यप्रति के जीवन में उतारना आवश्यक है। मानव सेवा करना मानव धर्म है, तो वहीं राष्ट्र के प्रति समर्पित होना राष्ट्र धर्म है। एक धर्म गृहस्थ का भी है।
धार्मिक व्यक्ति वह है, जो प्रेम, शांति और करुणा को जीवन में महत्व देता है। जो अपने खाने की चिंता तो दूर अपने साथ-साथ न जाने कितने लोगों का उद्धार करता है। धर्म वह है, जो किसी के आंख के आंसू पोंछ सके, किसी के चेहरे पर मुस्कराहट ला सके। ऐसा धार्मिक व्यक्ति दीपक जलाते समय इस बात का ध्यान रखता है कि वह दीपक से और दीपक प्रदीप्त करे। धरा से अंधेरा मिटे, और लोगों में जाग्रति आए। स्वयं के प्रति और समाज के प्रति। धार्मिक व्यक्ति जीवन में कुछ ऐसा कर गुजरता है कि लोग उसके जाने के बाद भी उसे याद करते हैं। धर्म का संबंध ईश्वर में मनुष्य की आस्था से है। यह जीवन का आधार है। मानव समाज को यथार्थ ज्ञान देकर जीवन के सही मूल्यों को समझाना धर्म है। धर्म विराट है। इसकी व्यापकता को किसी चहारदीवारी में नहीं बांध सकते हैं।
