भगवान् का भजन गुप्त रखना चाहिये। इससे भजन करनेवाले को बड़ा लाभ होता है, इस पर एक दृष्टान्त याद आ गया, वह आपको बताया जाता है।
एक राजा थे, बड़े भजनानन्दी, अंदर ही अंदर भजनरूपी पूँजी इकट्ठी किया करते थे, किसी को पता नहीं लगा कि राजा इतना भजन करने वाला है। सब यही सोचते कि पक्का नास्तिक है। भगवान् का एक बार भी नाम नहीं लेता, इसी प्रकार की कल्पना लोग किया करते थे।
राजा की रानी साहिबा भी बड़ी भजन वाली थीं, वह भी यही सोचती कि ये भगवान् का नाम नहीं लेते, वे पति से भजन करने का आग्रह भी किया करती थीं, किंतु वे इस बात पर ध्यान नहीं देते थे। रानी बेचारी बड़ी दु:खी रहतीं कि ये भगवान् का नाम नहीं लेते।
एक दिन सोते समय राजा के मुख से स्वाभाविक ही राम का नाम निकल गया, अब तो रानी बड़ी प्रसन्न हुई, उसने अपना बड़ा भाग्य समझा क्योंकि सोते समय उसके पति के मुख से राम-नाम निकल गया। रानी ने आदेश दिया कि सारे नगर में बाजे बजे एवं उत्सव मनाया जाय।
रानी की आज्ञानुसार सब हुआ, जब बाजे बजने लगे तो राजा ने पूछा कि आज क्यों बाजे बज रहे हैं ? आज तो न कोई पर्व है न कोई उत्सव। रानी ने कहा कि आपने अब तक भगवान् का नाम नहीं लिया, किंतु रात्रि में आपके मुख से राम नाम निकला। इसलिये इस खुशी में यह सब हो रहा है।
राजा ने कहा कि क्या राम का नाम मेरे मुख से निकल गया। रानी ने कहा–’हाँ, तब तो निकल ही गया, अब हमेशा के लिये निकल जायगा।’ राजा ने अपने प्राणों को निरुद्ध किया एवं प्राणों का परित्याग कर दिया।
कहने का मतलब है कि अपने भजन-ध्यान को गुप्त रखना चाहिये।

The worship of God should be kept secret. This gives great benefit to the worshiper, on which a parable is remembered, it is told to you. There was a king, great Bhajananandi, who used to collect the capital of Bhajan inside, no one knew that the king was going to do so much hymn. Everyone thinks that he is a true atheist. He does not take the name of God even once, people used to conceive like this. The king’s queen Sahiba was also a great devotee, she also thought that she did not take the name of God, she used to request her husband to do bhajan, but she did not pay heed to it. The poor queen would be very sad that she does not take the name of God. One day while sleeping, the name of Rama came out of the mouth of the king, now the queen was very happy, she understood her great fortune because while sleeping, the name of Ram came out of her husband’s mouth. The queen ordered that the whole city should be celebrated at o’clock and the festival should be celebrated. Everything happened as per the order of the queen, when the horns started ringing, the king asked why are the horns playing today? Today is neither a festival nor a celebration. The queen said that you have not yet taken the name of God, but at night the name of Ram came out of your mouth. That’s why all this is happening in this happiness. The king asked whether Ram’s name had come out of my mouth. The queen said- ‘Yes, then it has left, now it will leave forever.’ The king imprisoned his life and gave up his life. It means to say that your hymn-meditation should be kept secret.
