[भज] निताई-गौर राधेश्याम [जप] हरेकृष्ण हरेराम
*महात्मा हरिदास जी का गोलोकगमन

विनिश्चितं वदामि ते न चान्यथा वचंसि में।
हरिं नरा भजन्ति येअतिदुस्तरं तरन्ति ते।।

जिनकी भाग्यवती जिह्वा पर श्री हरि के मधुर नाम सदा विराजमान रहते हैं, नाम संकीर्तन के द्वारा जिनके रोम रोम में राम रम गया है, जिन्होंने कृष्ण-कीर्तन के द्वारा इस कलुषित कलेवर को चिन्मय बना लिया है, वे नाम प्रेमी संत समय समय पर संसार को शिक्षा देने के निमित्त इस अवति पर अवतरित होकर लोगों के सम्मुख नाम माहात्म्य पगकट करते हैं। वे नित्य सिद्ध और अनुग्रह सृष्टि के जीव होते हैं। न उनका जन्म है और न उनकी मृत्यु। उनकी कोई जाति नहीं, कुटुम्ब परिवार नहीं। वे वर्णाश्रम परे मत-मतान्तरों से रहित और यावतब भौतिक पदार्थों से संसर्ग रखने वाले सम्बन्ध हैं उन सभी से पृथक ही रहते हैं।

अपने अलौकिक आचरण के द्वारा संसार को साधन पथ की ओर अग्रसर करने के निमित्त ही उनका अवतरण होता है। वे ऊपर से इसी कार्य के निमित्त उतरते हैं और कार्य समाप्त होने पर ऊपर चले जाते हैं। हम संसारी लोगों की दृष्टि में उनके जन्म मरण आदि सभी कार्य होते से दीखते हैं। वे जन्मते भी हैं, बढ़ते भी हैं, रहते भी हैं, खाते-पीते तथा उठते-बैठते से भी दीखते हैं, वृद्ध भी होते हैं और इस पांच भौतिक शरीर को त्यागकर मृत्यु को भी प्राप्त करते हैं। हम करें भी तो क्या करें, हमारी बुद्धि ही ऐसी बनी है। वह इन धर्मों से रहित व्यक्ति का अनुमान ही नहीं कर सकती। गोल छिद्र में तो गोल ही वस्तु आवेगी, यदि तुम उसमें उसी नाप की चौकोनी वस्तु डालोगे तो तुम्हारा परिश्रम व्यर्थ होगा। छिद्र की बनावट देखकर ही उसमें वस्तु डालनी चाहिये। इसीलिये कभी न मरने वाले अमर महात्माओं के भी शरीर त्याग का वर्णन किया जाता है। वास्तव में तो श्री हरिदास जी जैसे तब थे वैसे ही अब भी हैं, नमामृत ने उन्हें सदा के लिये जरा, व्याधि तथा मरण से रहित बनाकर अमर कर दिया। जो अमर हो गया उसकी मृत्यु कैसी ? उसके लिये शोक कैसा, उसकी मृत्यु भी एक प्रकार की लीला है और श्री चैतन्य उस लीला के सुचतुर सूत्रधार हैं। वे दृःख से रहित होकर भी दृःख करते से दीखते हैं, ममता मोह से पृथक होने पर भी वे उसमें सने से मालूम पड़ते हैं। शोक, उद्वेग और सन्ताप से अलग होने पर भी वे शोकयुक्त, उद्वेगयुक्त और संतापयुक्त से दृष्टिगोचर होते हैं। उनकी माया वे ही जानें। हम तो दर्शक हैं, जैसा देख रहे हैं, वैसा ही बतावेंगे, जैसा सुनेंगे, वैसा ही कहेंगे। लीला है, बनावट है, छद्म है, नाटक है या सत्य है, इसे वे ही जानें।

दोपहर हो चुका था, प्रभु का सेवक गोविन्द नित्य की भाँति महाप्रसाद लेकर हरिदास के पास पहुँचा। रोज वह हरिदास जी को आसन पर बैठे हुए नाम-जप करते पाता था। उसदिन उसने देखा हरिदास जी सामने के तख्त पर आँख बंद किये हुए लेट रहे हैं। उनके श्रीमुख से आप ही आप निकल रहा था-

हरे राम हरे राम राम राम हरे हरे। हरे कृष्ण हरे कृष्ण कृष्ण कृष्ण हरे हरे।।

गोविन्द ने धीर से कहा- हरिदास ! उठो, आज कैसे सुस्ती में पड़े हो।’ कुछ सम्भ्रम के साथ चौंककर आँखें खोलते हुए भर्राई आवाज में हरिदास जी ने पूछा- ‘कौन?’ गोविन्द ने कहा- ‘कोई नहीं, मैं हूँ गोविन्द। क्यों क्या हाल है? पड़े कैसे हो? प्रसाद लाया हूँ, ला प्रसाद पा लो।’

कुछ क्षीण स्वर में हरिदास जी ने कहा- ‘प्रसाद लाये हो? प्रसाद कैसे पाऊँ?’

गोविन्द ने कुछ ममता के स्वर में कहा- ‘क्यों, क्यों, बात क्या है, बताओं तो सही। तबीयत तो अच्छी है न?’

हरिदास जी ने फिर उसी प्रकार विषण्णतायुक्त वाणी में कहा- ‘हाँ, तबीयत अच्छी है, किन्तु आज नाम जप की संख्या पूरी नहीं हुई। बिना संख्या पूरी किये प्रसाद कैसे पाऊँ? तुम ले आये हो तो अब प्रसाद का अपमान करते भी नहीं बनता।’

यह कहकर उन्होंने प्रसाद को प्रणाम किया और उसमें से एक कण लेकर मुख में डाल लियो। गोविन्द चला गया, उसने सब हाल महाप्रभु से जाकर कहा।

दूसरे दिन सदा की भाँति समुद्रस्नान करके प्रभु हरिदास जी के आश्रम में गये। उस समय भी हरिदास जी जमीन पर पड़े झपकी ले रहे थे। पास में ही मिट्टी के करवे में जल भरा रखा था। आज आश्रम सदा की भाँति झाड़ा-बुहारा नहीं गया था। इधर-उधर कूड़ा पड़ा था, मक्खियाँ भिनक रही थीं प्रभु ने आवाज देकर पूछा- ‘हरिदास जी ! तबीयत कैसी है? शरीर तो स्वस्थ है न?

हरिदास जी ने चौंककर प्रभु को प्रणाम किया और क्षीण स्वर में कहा-‘शरीर तो स्वस्थ है। मन स्वस्थ नहीं है।’

प्रभु ने पूछा- ‘क्यों मन को क्या क्लेश है, किस बात की चिंता है?’ उसी प्रकार दीनता के स्वर में हरिदास जी ने कहा- ‘यही चिन्ता है प्रभो ! कि नाम की संख्या अब पूरी नहीं होती।’ प्रभु ने ममता के स्वर में कुछ बात पर जोर देते हुए कहा- ‘देखो, अब तुम इतने वृद्ध हो गये हो। बहुत हठ ठीक नहीं होती। नाम की संख्या कुछ कम कर दो। तुम्हारे लिये क्या संख्या और क्या जप? तुम तो नित्यसिद्ध पुरुष हो, तुम्हारे सभी कार्य केवल लोकशिक्षा के निमित्त होते हैं।’

हरिदास जी ने कहा- ‘प्रभो ! अब उतना जप होता ही नहीं, स्वतः ही कम हो गया है। हाँ, मुझे आपके श्री चरणों में एक निवेदन करना था।’ प्रभु पास में ही एक आसन खींचकर बैठ गये और प्यार से कहने लगे- ‘कहो, क्या कहना चाहते हो? अत्यन्त ही दीनता के साथ हरिदास जी ने कहा- आपके लक्षणों से मुझे प्रतीत हो गया है कि आप शीघ्र ही लीलासंवरण करना चाहते हैं। प्रभो ! मेरी श्री चरणों में यही अन्तिम प्रार्थना है कि यह दुःख प्रद दृश्य मुझे अपनी आँखों से देखना न पड़े। प्रभो ! मेरा हृदय फट जायगा। मैं इस प्रकार हृदय फटकर मृत्यु नहीं चाहता। मेरी तो मनोकामना यही है कि नेत्रों के सामने आपकी मनमोहिनी मूरत हो, हृदय में आपके सुन्दर सुवर्णवर्ण की सलोनी सूरत हो, जिह्वा पर मधुरातिमधुर श्रीकृष्ण-चैतन्य यह त्रैलोक्यपावन नाम हो और आपके चारु चरित्रों का चिन्तन करते-करते मैं इस नश्वर शरीर को त्याग करूँ। यही मेरी साध है, यह मोर उत्कट अभिलाषा है। आप स्वतन्त्र ईश्वर हैं, सब कुछ करने में समर्थ हैं। इस भिक्षा को तो आप मुझे अवश्य ही दे दें।’

प्रभु ने डबडबायी आँखों से कहा- ‘ठाकुर हरिदास ! मालूम पड़ता है, अब तुम लीलासंवरण करना चाहते हो। देखो, यह बात ठीक नहीं। पुरी मेें मेरा और कौन है, तुम्हारी ही संगति से तो यहाँ पड़ा हुआ हूँ। हम तुम साथ ही रहे, साथ ही संकीर्तन किया, अब तुम मुझे अकेला छोड़कर जाओगे, यह ठीक नहीं है।’

धीरे-धीरे खिसककर प्रभु के पैरों में मस्तक रगड़ते हुए हरिदास कहने लगे- ‘प्रभो ! ऐसी बात फिर कभी अपने श्री मुख से न निकालें। मेरा जन्म म्लेच्छकुल में हुआ। जन्म का अनाथ, अनपढ़ और अनाश्रित, संसार से तिरस्कृत और श्री हीन कर्मों के कारण अत्यन्त ही अधम, तिसपर भी आपने मुझे अपनाया; नरक से लेकर स्वर्ग में बिठाया। बड़े-बड़े श्रोत्रिय, ब्राह्मणों से सम्मान कराया, त्रैलोक्यपावन पुरुषोत्त क्षेत्र का देवदुर्लभ वास प्रदान किया। प्रभो ! दीन हीन कंगाल को रंक से चक्रवर्ती बना दिया, यह आप की ही सामर्थ्य है। आप करनी न करनी सभी कुछ कर सकते हैं। आपकी महिमा का पार कौन पा सकता है? मेरी प्रार्थना को स्वीकार कीजिये और मुझे अपने मनोवांछित वरदान को दीजिये।’

प्रभु ने गदगद कण्ठ से कहा- ‘हरिदास ! तुम्हारी इच्छा के विरुद्ध करने की भला सामर्थ्य ही किसकी है? जिसमें तुम्हें सुख हो, वही करो।’

प्रभु इतना कहकर अपने स्थान को चले गये। महाप्रभु ने गोविन्द से कह दिया कि- ‘हरिदास की खूब देख-रेख रखो, अब वे इस पाँच भौतिक शरीर को छोड़ना चाहते हैं। गोविन्द प्रसाद लेकर रोज जाता था, किन्तु हरिदास जी की भूख तो अब समाप्त हो गयी। फूटे हुए फोड़े में पुलटिस बाँधने से लाभ ही क्या? छिद्र हुए घड़े में जल रखने से प्रयोजन ही क्या? उसमें अब जल सुरक्षित न रहेगा।’
महाप्रभु नित्य हरिदास जी को देखने जाया करते थे। एक दिन उन्होंने देखा; हरिदास जी के शरीर की दशा अत्यन्त ही शोचनीय है। वे उसी समय अपने आश्रम पर गये और उसी समय गोविन्द के द्वारा अपने सभी अन्तरंग भक्तों को बुलाया। सबके आ जाने पर प्रभु उन्हें साथ लिये हुए हरिदास जी के आश्रम में जा पहुँचे। हरिदास जी पृथ्वी पर पड़े हुए धीरे-धीरे-

हरे राम हरे राम राम राम हरे हरे।
हरे कृष्ण हरे कृष्ण कृष्ण कृष्ण हरे हरे।।

इस महामन्त्र का जप कर हरे थे। प्रभु ने पूछा- ‘क्यों, हरिदास ! कहो, क्या हाल है?’
‘सब आनन्द है प्रभो !’ कहकर हरिदास ने कष्ट के साथ करवट बदली। महाप्रभु उनके मस्तक पर धीरे-धीरे हाथ फिराने लगे। राय रामानन्द, सार्वभौम भट्टाचार्य, स्वरूप दामोदर, वक्रेश्वर पण्डित, गदाधर गोस्वामी, काशीश्वर, जगदानन्द पण्डित आदि सभी अन्तरंग भक्त हरिदास जी को चारों ओर से घेरकर बैठ गये। धीरे-धीरे भक्तों ने संकीर्तन आरम्भ किया।

भट्टाचार्य जोश में आकर उठ खड़े हुए और जोरों से नृत्य करने लगे। अब तो सभी भक्त उठकर और हरिदास जी को घेरकर जोरों के साथ गाने-बजाने और नाचने लगे। संकीर्तन की कर्णप्रिय ध्वनि सुनकर सैकड़ों आदमी वहाँ एकत्रित हो गये। कुछ क्षण के अनन्तर प्रभु ने संकीर्तन बन्द करा दिया, भक्तों के सहित हरिदास जी को चारों ओर से घेरकर बैठ गये। प्रभु के दोनों कमल के समान कमल के समान नेत्रों में जल भरा हुआ था, कण्ठ शोक के कारण गदगद हो रहा था। उन्होंने कष्ट के साथ धीरे-धीरे रामानन्द तथा सार्वभौम आदि भक्तों से कहना आरम्भ किया- ‘हरिदास जी के भक्ति भाव का बखान सहस्र मुख वाले शेषनाग जी भी अनन्त वर्षों में नहीं कर सकते। इनकी सहिष्णुता-जागरूकता, तितिक्षा और भगवन्नाम में अनन्यभाव से निष्ठा आदि सभी बातें परम आदर्श और अनुकरणीय हैं। इनका जैसा वैराग्य था वैसा सभी मनुष्यों में नहीं हो सकता। कोटि-कोटि पुरुषों में कही खोजने से किसी में मिल सके तो मिले, नहीं तो इन्होंने अपना आचरण असम्भव सा ही बना लिया था।’ यह कहकर प्रभु बेंतों की घटना, वेश्या की घटना, नाग की घटना तथा इनके सम्बन्ध की और प्रलोभन-सम्बन्धी दैवी घटनाओं का वर्णन करने लगे।

सभी भक्त इनके अनुपमेय गुणों को सुनकर इनके पैरों की धूलि को मस्तक पर मलने लगे। उसी समय बड़े कष्ट से हरिदास जी ने प्रभु को सामने आने का संकेत किया। भक्तवत्सल चैतन्य उन महापुरुष के सामने बैठ गये। अब तक उनकी आँखें बन्द थीं, अब उन्होंने दोनों आँखों को खोल लिया और बिना पलक मारे अनिमेषभाव से वे प्रभु के श्री मुख की ओर निहारने लगे। मानो वे अपने दोनों बड़े-बड़े नेत्रों द्वारा महाप्रभु के मनोहर मुखारविन्द के मकरन्द का तन्मयता के साथ पान कर रहे हों। उनकी दृष्टि महाप्रभु के श्री मुख की ओर से क्षणभर को भी इधर-उधर हटती नहीं थी। सभी मौन थे, चारों ओर नीरवता और स्तब्धता छायी हुई थी।

हरिदास जी अत्यन्त ही पिपासु की तरह प्रभु की मकरन्द माधुरी को पी रहे थे। अब उन्होंने पास में बैठे हुए भक्तों की धीरे-धीरे पदधूलि उठाकर अपने काँपते हुए हाथों से शरीर पर मली। उनकी दोनों आँखों की कोरों में से अश्रुओं की बूँदें निकल-निकलकर पृथ्वी में विलीन होती जाती थीं। मानों वे नीचे के लोक में हरिदास-विजयोत्सव का संवाद देने जा रही हों। उनकी आँखों के पलक गिरते नहीं थे, जिह्वा से धीरे-धीरे ‘श्रीकृष्ण चैतन्य’ ‘श्रीकृष्ण चैतन्य’ इन नामों को उच्चारण कर रहे थे। देखते-ही-देखते उनके प्राण-पखेरू इस जीर्ण-शीर्ण कलेवर को परित्याग करके न जाने किस लोक की ओर चले गये। उनकी आँखें खुली-की-खुली ही रह गयीं, उनके पलक फिर गिरे नहीं। मीन की तरह मानो वे पलकहीन आँखें, निरन्तररूप से त्रैलोक्य को शीतलता प्रदान करने वाले चैतन्यरूपी जल का आश्रय ग्रहण करके उसी की ओर टकट की लगाये अविच्छिन्नभाव से देख रही हैं।

सभी भक्तों ने एक साथ हरिध्वनि की। महाप्रभु उनके प्राणहीन कलेवर को अपनी गोदी में उठाकर जोरों के साथ नृत्य करने लगे। सभी भक्त रुदन करते हुए ‘हरि बोल’, ‘हरि बोल’ की हृदयविदारक ध्वनि से मानो आकाश के हृदय के भी टुकड़े-टुकड़े करने लगे। उस समय का दृश्य बड़ा ही करुणा जनक था। जहाँ श्री चैतन्य हरिदास के प्राणहीन शरीर को गोदी में लेकर रोते-रोते नृत्य कर रहे हों वहाँ अन्य भक्तों की क्या दशा हुई होगी, इसका पाठक ही अनुमान लगा सकते हैं। उसका कथन करना हमारी शक्ति के बाहर की बात है।

इस प्रकार बड़ी देर तक भक्तों के सहित प्रभु कीर्तन करते रहे। अनन्तर श्री जगन्नाथ जी का प्रसादी वस्त्र मँगाया गया। उससे उनके शरीर को लपेटकर उनका बड़ा भारी विमान बनाया गया। सुन्दर कलाबे की डोरियों से कसकर उनका शरीर विमान पर रखा गया। सैकड़ों भक्त ढोल, करतार झाँझ, मृदंग और शंख, घडियाल तथा घण्टा बजाते हुए विमान के आगे-आगे चलने लगे। सभी भक्त बारी-बारी से हरिदास जी के विमान में कन्धा लगाते थे। महाप्रभु सबसे आगे विमान के सामने अपना उन्मत्त नृत्य करते जाते थे। वे हरिदास जी की गुणावली का निरन्तर गान कर रहे थे। इस प्रकार खूब धूम-धाम के साथ वे हरिदास जी के शव को लेकर समुद्र तट पर पहुँचे। समुद्रतट पर पहुँचकर भक्तों ने हरिदास जी के शरीर को समुद्र जल में स्नान कराया। महाप्रभु अश्रुविमोचन करते हुए गदगद कण्ठ से कहने लगे- ‘समुद्र आज से पवित्र हो गया, अब यह हरिदास जी के अंगस्पर्श से महातीर्थ बन गया।’ यह कहकर आपने हरिदास जी का पादोदक पान किया।

सभी भक्तों ने हरिदास जी के पादोदक से अपने को कृतकृत्य समझा। बालू में एक गडढा खोदकर उसमें हरिदास जी के शरीर को समाधिस्थ किया गया। क्योंकि वे संन्यासी थे, संन्यासी के शरीर की शास्त्रों में ऐसी ही विधि बतायी है। प्रभु ने अपने हाथों से गडढे में बालू दी और उनकी समाधि पर सुन्दरसा एक चबूतरा बनाया। सभी ने शोकयुक्त प्रेम के आवेश में उन्मत्त होकर समाधि के चारों ओर संकीर्तन किया और समुद्र स्नान करके तथा हरिदास जी की समाधि की प्रदक्षिणा करके सभी ने पुरी की ओर प्रस्थान किया। पथ में प्रभु हरिदास जी की प्रशंसा करते-करते प्रेम में पागलों की भाँति प्रलाप करते जाते थे। सिंहद्वार पर पहुँच कर प्रभु रोते-रोते अपना अंचल पसार-पसारकर दुकानदारों से भिक्षा माँगने लगे।

वे कहते थे- ‘भैया! मैं अपने हरिदास का विजयोत्सव मनाऊँगा, मुझे हरिदास के नाम पर भिक्षा दो।’ दुकानदार अपना-अपना सभी प्रसाद प्रभु की झोली में डालने लगे। तब स्वरूप दामोदर जी ने प्रभु का हाथ पकड़कर कहा- ‘प्रभो! यह आप क्या कर रहे हैं? भिक्षा माँगने के लिये हम आपके सेवक ही बहुत हैं, आपको इस प्रकार माँगते देखकर हमें दुःख हो रहा है, आप चलिये। जितना भी आप चाहेंगे उतना ही प्रसाद हम लोग माँग-माँगकर एकत्रित कर देंगे।’ इस प्रकार प्रभु को समझा-बुझाकर स्वरूप गोस्वामी ने उन्हें स्थान पर भिजवा दिया और आप चार-पाँच भक्तों को साथ लेकर दुकानों पर महाप्रसाद माँगने चले। उस दिन दुकानदारों ने उदारता की हद कर डाली। उनके पास जितना भी प्रसाद था, सभी दे डाला। इतने में ही वाणीनाथ, काशी मिश्र आदि बहुत-से भक्त मनों प्रसाद लेकर प्रभु के आश्रम पर आ उपस्थित हुए। चारों ओर महाप्रसाद का ढेर लग गया। जो भी सुनता वही हरिदास जी के विजयोत्सव में सम्मिलित होने के लिये दौड़ा आता। इस प्रकार हजारों आदमी वहाँ एकत्रित हो गये।

महाप्रभु स्वयं अपने हाथों से सभी को परोसने लगे। महाप्रभु का परोसना विचित्र तो होता ही था। एक-एक पत्तल पर चार-चार, पाँच-पाँच आदमियों के योग्य भोजन और तारीफ की बात यह कि लोग सभी को खा जाते थे। भक्तों ने आग्रह पूर्वक कहा- ‘जब तक महाप्रभु प्रसाद न पा लेंगे, तब तक हममें से कोई एक ग्रास भी मुँह में न देगा।’ तब प्रभु ने परासना बंद कर दिया और पुरा तथा भारती आदि संन्यासियों के साथ काशी मिश्र के लाये हुए प्रसाद को पाने लगे, क्योंकि उस दिन प्रभु का उन्हीं के यहाँ निमन्त्रण था।

महाप्रभु ने सभी भक्तों को खू्ब आग्रह पूर्वक भोजन कराया। सभी ने प्रसाद ना लेने के अनन्तर हरिध्वनि की। तब प्रभु ऊपर को हाथ उठाकर कहने लगे- ‘हरिदास जी का जिसने संग किया, जिसने उनके दर्शन किये, उनके गड्ढे में बालू दी, उनका पादोदक पान किया, उनके विजयोत्सव में प्रसाद पाया, वह कृतार्थ हो गया। उसे श्रीकृष्ण प्रेम की प्राप्ति अवश्य हो सकेगी। वह अवश्य ही भगवत्कृपा का भाजन बन सकेगा।’ यह कहकर प्रभु ने जारो से हरिदास जी की जय बोली।’ ‘हरिदास जी की जय’ के विशाल घोष से आकाश मण्डल गूँजने लगा। हरि-हरि ध्वनि के साथ हरिदास जी का विजयोत्सव समाप्त हुआ।

श्री क्षेत्र जगन्नाथपुरी में टोटा गोपीनाथ जी के रास्ते में समुद्र तीर पर अब भी हरिदास जी की सुन्दर समाधि बनी हुई है। वहाँ पर एक बहुत पुराना बकुल (मौलसिर) का वृक्ष है, उसे ‘सिद्ध बकुल’ कहते हैं। ऐसी प्रसिद्धि है कि हरिदास जी ने दातौन करके उसे गाड़ दिया था, उसी से यह वृक्ष हो गया। अब भी वहाँ प्रतिवर्ष अनन्त चतुर्दशी के दिवस हरिदास जी का विजयोत्सव मनाया जाता है। उन महामना हरिदास जी के चरणों में हम कोटि कोटि प्रणाम करते हुए उनके इस विजयोत्सव प्रसंग को समाप्त करते हैं।

I tell you for sure and you don’t tell me otherwise. Those men who worship Hari cross the most difficult path.

On whose blessed tongue Sri Hari’s sweet name always resides, who has Ram in his heart by chanting the name, who has made this dirty body beautiful by Krishna-Kirtan, that name-loving saint from time to time in the world Incarnated in this incarnation for the sake of teaching, the greatness of the name is revealed in front of the people. They are creatures of ever-perfect and gracious creation. He is neither born nor his death. He has no caste, no family. They are free from differences of opinion beyond Varnashram and remain separate from all those who are in contact with material things.

He incarnates only for the purpose of leading the world towards the path of means through his supernatural conduct. They descend from above for this work and go up when the work is over. In the eyes of us worldly people, their birth and death etc. are all visible. He takes birth, grows, lives, eats and drinks, moves and sits, grows old, and dies leaving these five material bodies. What to do even if we do, our intellect is made like this. She cannot even guess a person without these religions. A round object will come in a round hole, if you put a square object of the same size in it, your hard work will be in vain. The thing should be inserted in the hole only after seeing its texture. That’s why the sacrifice of the body of the immortal sages who never die is also described. In fact Shri Haridas ji is still the same as he was then, Namamrit made him immortal by making him free from age, disease and death forever. How is the death of the one who became immortal? How to mourn for him, his death is also a kind of play and Sri Chaitanya is the master of that play. They are seen by seeing even though they are not seeing, even when they are separated from love and affection, they are known to be mixed in it. Even though they are separated from grief, anxiety and anger, they are visible from mournful, agitated and angry. Only they know their illusion. We are spectators, we will tell as we see, we will say as we hear. Is it Leela, is it fake, is it a drama or is it true, only they know it.

It was already afternoon, Lord’s servant Govind reached Haridas with Mahaprasad as usual. Everyday he used to find Haridas ji chanting while sitting on the seat. That day he saw Haridas ji lying on the throne in front of him with his eyes closed. It was coming out of his mouth on its own.

Govind said calmly – Haridas! Wake up, how are you lying lethargic today.’ Opening his eyes with some confusion, Haridas ji asked in a hoarse voice – ‘Who?’ Govind said – ‘No one, I am Govind. Why how are you? How are you lying? I have brought prasad, get the prasad here.

Haridas ji said in a weak voice – ‘ Have you brought Prasad? How can I get the prasad?

Govind said in a voice of affection – ‘Why, why, what is the matter, at least tell me. You are feeling good, aren’t you?’

Haridas ji again said in the same distressing voice – ‘ Yes, my health is good, but today the number of chanting has not been completed. How can I get Prasad without completing the number? You have brought it, so now I can’t even insult Prasad.’

Saying this, he bowed down to Prasad and took a particle from it and put it in his mouth. Govind left, he went and told Mahaprabhu everything.

On the second day, after bathing in the sea as usual, went to Lord Haridas ji’s ashram. Even at that time Haridas ji was taking a nap lying on the ground. Water was kept in an earthen pot nearby. Today the ashram was not dusted as usual. Garbage was lying here and there, flies were buzzing. The Lord called out and asked – ‘ Haridas ji! How is your health? Is the body healthy?

Shocked, Haridas ji bowed down to the Lord and said in a weak voice – ‘The body is healthy. The mind is not healthy.

The Lord asked – ‘Why is the mind troubled, what is it worried about?’ That the number of names is no longer complete. ‘ Prabhu said in Mamta’s voice emphasizing on something- ‘Look, you have become so old now. Too much stubbornness is not good. Reduce the number of names. What number and what chant for you? You are an eternal man, all your works are only for the sake of public education.

Haridas ji said – ‘ Lord! Now that much chanting doesn’t happen, it has automatically reduced. Yes, I had to make a request at your holy feet.’ Prabhu pulled a seat nearby and sat down and said lovingly – ‘Say, what do you want to say? Haridas ji said with utmost humility – I have realized from your symptoms that you want to do Leelasavanran soon. Lord! This is my last prayer at the holy feet that I should not have to see this sad scene with my own eyes. Lord! My heart will explode. I don’t want to die of heartbreak like this. My only wish is that your charming idol should be in front of my eyes, your beautiful golden face should be in my heart, the sweet and sweet name Shri Krishna-Chaitanya should be on my tongue, and thinking of your four characters, I should leave this mortal body. . This is my practice, this peacock is my fervent desire. You are the independent God, capable of doing everything. You must give this alms to me.

The Lord said with tearful eyes – ‘ Thakur Haridas! It seems that now you want to do leelasamvaran. Look, this is not right. Who else is mine in Puri, I am lying here because of your company. You and I stayed together, sang together, now you will leave me alone, this is not right.’

Slipping slowly and rubbing his head at the feet of the Lord, Haridas started saying – ‘Lord! Never take such a thing out of your mouth again. I was born in Mlechchkul. Orphan by birth, illiterate and destitute, despised by the world and extremely lowly because of Shri’s inferior deeds, yet you adopted me; Made you sit from hell to heaven. Got respected by big listeners, Brahmins, provided Devdurlabh abode of Trilokyapavan Purushotta Kshetra. Lord! You have made a poor and destitute a Chakravarti out of poverty, it is only your ability. You can do everything whether you want to do it or not. Who can cross your glory? Accept my prayer and grant me your desired boon.’

The Lord said in a thunderous voice – ‘Haridas! Who has the ability to do good against your will? Do what makes you happy.

Saying this the Lord went to his place. Mahaprabhu told Govind that- ‘Take good care of Haridas, now he wants to leave these five physical bodies. Govind used to go everyday with Prasad, but Haridas ji’s hunger has now ended. What is the benefit of tying poultice in a burst boil? What is the use of keeping water in a pitcher with holes? Water will no longer be safe in it. Mahaprabhu used to go to see Haridas ji daily. One day he saw; The condition of Haridas ji’s body is very deplorable. He went to his ashram at the same time and at the same time called all his intimate devotees through Govinda. When everyone arrived, the Lord took them along and reached Haridas ji’s ashram. Haridas ji lying on the earth slowly-

He was green by chanting this great mantra. The Lord asked – ‘Why, Haridas! Say, how are you? Saying ‘All is joy Lord!’ Haridas changed his side with pain. Mahaprabhu slowly started moving his hand on his head. Rai Ramanand, Sarvabhaum Bhattacharya, Swaroop Damodar, Vakreshwar Pandit, Gadadhar Goswami, Kashishwar, Jagadanand Pandit etc. all the intimate devotees sat around Haridas ji. Slowly the devotees started chanting.

Bhattacharya got up in excitement and started dancing loudly. Now all the devotees got up and surrounded Haridas ji and started singing and dancing loudly. Hearing the melodious sound of Sankirtan, hundreds of people gathered there. After a few moments, the Lord stopped the chanting, surrounded Haridas ji along with the devotees and sat down. Like both the lotuses of the Lord, the eyes were filled with water like lotus, the throat was hoarse due to grief. With pain, he slowly started saying to the devotees like Ramanand and Sarvabhaum – ‘ Even the thousand-faced Sheshnag ji cannot describe the devotion of Haridas ji in infinite years. His tolerance-awareness, Titiksha and exclusive devotion in the name of God, etc. are all ideal and exemplary. Not all human beings can have the kind of disinterest they had. Searching somewhere among crores of men, if he could find anyone, otherwise he had made his behavior almost impossible.’ Saying this, the Lord narrated the incident of canes, the incident of prostitute, the incident of cobra and their relationship with other temptations. Started describing divine events.

All the devotees started rubbing the dust of his feet on their heads after listening to his matchless qualities. At the same time Haridas ji signaled the Lord to come in front with great pain. Bhaktavatsal Chaitanya sat in front of that great man. Till now his eyes were closed, now he opened both the eyes and without blinking he started gazing at the Shri face of the Lord. As if they are drinking nectar of Mahaprabhu’s lovely face with their two big eyes. His vision did not deviate here and there even for a moment from the Shri Mukh of Mahaprabhu. Everyone was silent, there was silence and stillness all around.

Haridas ji was drinking Madhuri, the nectar of the Lord, like a very thirsty person. Now he slowly picked up the dust of the devotees sitting nearby and rubbed it on his body with his trembling hands. Drops of tears flowed from the corners of both his eyes and kept disappearing into the earth. As if she is going to deliver the dialogue of Haridas-Vijayotsav in the lower world. The eyelids of his eyes did not fall, ‘Shri Krishna Chaitanya’ ‘Shri Krishna Chaitanya’ was pronouncing these names slowly with his tongue. In no time, his life-birds left this dilapidated body and went towards which world. His eyes remained wide open, his eyelids did not fall again. As if like a fish, those eyelidless eyes, continuously taking shelter of the water of Chaitanya, which provides coolness to the three worlds, are gazing at it with an unbroken attitude.

All the devotees chanted Haridhwani together. Mahaprabhu lifted his lifeless body in his lap and started dancing vigorously. All the devotees started crying with the heart-rending sound of ‘Hari Bol’, ‘Hari Bol’, as if even the heart of the sky started breaking into pieces. The scene at that time was very pathetic. What must have been the condition of the other devotees where Sri Chaitanya was weeping and dancing with the lifeless body of Haridas in his lap, only the reader can guess. It is beyond our power to narrate it.

In this way, the Lord continued to do kirtan along with the devotees for a long time. Later, the prasadi cloth of Shri Jagannath ji was called for. Wrapping his body with it, his big heavy plane was made. His body was kept on the plane tightly with the strings of the beautiful Kalabe. Hundreds of devotees started walking in front of the plane playing drums, kartar cymbals, mridang and conch shells, gongs and bells. All the devotees used to shoulder Haridas ji’s plane in turn. Mahaprabhu used to go in front of the aircraft doing his frantic dance. He was continuously singing the praises of Haridas ji. In this way, with much fanfare, they reached the beach with Haridas ji’s dead body. After reaching the beach, the devotees bathed Haridas ji’s body in sea water. While shedding tears, Mahaprabhu started saying in a thunderous voice – ‘The sea has become holy from today, now it has become a great pilgrimage by the touch of Haridas ji.’ By saying this, you drank Haridas ji’s padodak.

All the devotees considered themselves indebted to Haridas ji’s padodak. A pit was dug in the sand and the body of Haridas ji was buried in it. Because he was a sannyasin, such a method has been described in the scriptures for the body of a sannyasin. The Lord put sand in the pit with his own hands and made a beautiful platform on his tomb. Everyone went mad in the passion of mournful love and did sankirtan around the tomb and after bathing in the sea and circumambulating Haridas ji’s tomb, everyone left for Puri. While praising Lord Haridas ji on the way, he used to raving madly in love. After reaching Singhdwar, Prabhu started begging for alms from the shopkeepers by spreading his lap while crying.

They used to say- ‘Brother! I will celebrate the victory of my Haridas, give me alms in the name of Haridas.’ The shopkeepers started putting all their prasad in the Lord’s bag. Then Swaroop Damodar ji held the hand of the Lord and said – ‘Lord! What are you doing this? We are your servants enough to beg for alms, we are sorry to see you begging like this, you go. We will collect as much prasad as you want.’ After persuading the Lord in this way, Swaroop Goswami sent him to the place and you took four-five devotees along with you and went to the shops to ask for Mahaprasad. That day the shopkeepers crossed the limit of generosity. Whatever prasad he had, he gave it all. Meanwhile, many devotees like Vaninath, Kashi Mishra etc. came to the Lord’s ashram with offerings. Mahaprasad was piled up all around. Whoever heard this, he used to run to participate in Haridas ji’s victory festival. Thus thousands of people gathered there.

Mahaprabhu himself started serving everyone with his own hands. The serving of Mahaprabhu used to be strange. Food fit for four, five men on each leaf and the thing of praise is that people used to eat them all. The devotees insistently said- ‘Until Mahaprabhu gets the Prasad, none of us will put a single piece of grass in our mouth.’ Then the Lord stopped the Prasad and started offering Prasad brought by Kashi Mishra along with Pura and Bharti etc. ascetics. Started getting them, because that day the Lord had invited them to their place.

Mahaprabhu served food to all the devotees with great insistence. Everyone did Haridhwani without taking Prasad. Then the Lord raised his hand and said – ‘ The one who was with Haridas ji, who visited him, gave sand in his pit, drank his padodak, got prasad in his victory festival, he became successful. He will definitely be able to get the love of Shri Krishna. He will definitely be able to become a hymn of God’s grace.’ Saying this, the Lord said ‘Jai Haridas ji’ to Jaro. Haridas ji’s victory festival ended with Hari-Hari sound.

In Shri Kshetra Jagannathpuri, on the way to Tota Gopinath ji, there is still a beautiful samadhi of Haridas ji on Samudra Teer. There is a very old Bakul (Maulsir) tree, it is called ‘Siddha Bakul’. It is such a fame that Haridas ji had buried it after biting it, that’s why it became a tree. Even now, the victory festival of Haridas ji is celebrated there every year on the day of Anant Chaturdashi. By bowing down at the feet of that great man Haridas ji, we end this celebration of his victory.
