गणेश जी और अंधी बुढ़िया की कथा

ॐ महागणाधिपतये नमः

*जय गजानन महाराज* 

*काफ़ी समय पहले की बात है एक गांव में एक अंधी बुढ़िया रहती थी।*
.
*वह गणेश जी की परम भक्त थी।*
.
*आंखों से भले ही दिखाई नहीं देता था, परंतु वह सुबह शाम गणेश जी की बंदगी में मग्न रहती।*
.
*नित्य गणेश जी की प्रतिमा के आगे बैठकर उनकी स्तुति करती।*
.
*भजन गाती व समाधि में लीन रहती।*
.
*गणेश जी बुढ़िया की भक्ति से बड़े प्रसन्न हुए।*
.
*उन्होंने सोचा यह बुढ़िया नित्य हमारा स्मरण करती है, परंतु बदले में कभी कुछ नहीं मांगती।*
.
*भक्ति का फल तो उसे मिलना ही चाहिए।*
.
*ऐसा सोचकर गणेश जी एक दिन बुढ़िया के सम्मुख प्रकट हुए तथा बोले –*
.
*माई, तुम हमारी सच्ची भक्त हो।*
.
*जिस श्रद्धा व विश्वास से हमारा स्मरण करती हो, हम उससे प्रसन्न हैं।*
.
*अत: तुम जो वरदान चाहो, हमसे मांग सकती हो।*
.
*बुढ़िया बोली – प्रभो ! मैं तो आपकी भक्ति प्रेम भाव से करती हूं।*
.
*मांगने का तो मैंने कभी सोचा ही नहीं।*
.
*अत: मुझे कुछ नहीं चाहिए।*
.
*गणेश जी पुन: बोले – हम वरदान देने के लिए आए हैं।*
.
*बुढ़िया बोली – हे सर्वेश्वर, मुझे मांगना तो नहीं आता।*
.
*अगर आप कहें, तो मैं कल मांग लूंगी।*
.
*तब तक मैं अपने बेटे व बहू से भी सलाह मशविरा कर लूंगी।*
.
*गणेश जी कल आने का वादा करके वापस लौट गए।*
.
*बुढ़िया के परिवार में एक पुत्र व बहू थे।*
.
*बुढ़िया ने सारी बात उन्हें बताकर सलाह मांगी।*
.
*बेटा बोला – मां, तुम गणेश जी से ढेर सारा पैसा मांग लो। हमारी ग़रीबी दूर हो जाएगी। सब सुख चैन से रहेंगे।*
.
*बुढ़िया की बहू बोली – नहीं आप एक सुंदर पोते का वरदान मांगें।*
.*वंश को आगे बढ़ाने वाला भी, तो चाहिए।*
.
*बुढ़िया बेटे और बहू की बातें सुनकर असमंजस में पड़ गई।*
.
*उसने सोचा – यह दोनों तो अपने-अपने मतलब की बातें कर रहे हैं।*
.
*बुढ़िया ने पड़ोसियों से सलाह लेने का मन बनाया।*
.
*पड़ोसन भी नेक दिल थी। उसने बुढ़िया को समझाया कि तुम्हारी सारी ज़िंदगी दुखों में कटी है।*
.
*अब जो थोड़ा जीवन बचा है, वह तो सुख से व्यतीत हो जाए।*
.
*धन अथवा पोते का तुम क्या करोंगी !*
.
*अगर तुम्हारी आंखें ही नहीं हैं, तो यह संसारिक वस्तुएं तुम्हारे लिए व्यर्थ हैं।*
.
*अत: तुम अपने लिए दोनों आंखें मांग लो।*
.
*बुढ़िया घर लौट आई। बुढ़िया और भी सोच में पड़ गई।*
.
*उसने सोचा – कुछ ऐसा मांग लूं, जिससे मेरा, बहू व बेटे- सबका भला हो।*
.
*लेकिन ऐसा क्या हो सकता है ? इसी उधेड़बुन में सारा दिन व्यतीत हो गया।*

*बुढ़िया कभी कुछ मांगने का मन बनाती, तो कभी कुछ, परंतु कुछ भी निर्धारित न कर सकी।*
.
*दूसरे दिन गणेश जी पुन: प्रकट हुए तथा बोले*
*माई क्या सोचा आप जो भी मांगेंगीं  वह सब हमारी कृपा से पूरा हो जाएगा।*
.
        *यह हमारा वचन है।*
.
*गणेश जी के पावन वचन सुनकर बुढ़िया बोली – हे गणराज, यदि आप मुझसे प्रसन्न हैं, तो कृप्या मुझे मन इच्छित वरदान दीजिए।*
.
*मैं अपने पोते को सोने के गिलास में दूध पीते देखना चाहती हूं।*
.
*बुढ़िया की बातें सुनकर गणेश जी उसकी सादगी व सरलता पर मुस्कुरा दिए।*
.
*बोले – तुमने तो मुझे ठग ही लिया है।*
.
*मैंने तुम्हें एक वरदान मांगने के लिए बोला था, परंतु तुमने तो एक वरदान में ही सब कुछ मांग लिया।*
.
*तुमने अपने लिए लंबी उम्र तथा दोनों आंखे मांग ली हैं।*
.
*बेटे के लिए धन व बहू के लिए पोता भी मांग लिया।*
.
*पोता होगा, ढेर सारा पैसा होगा, तभी तो वह सोने के गिलास में दूध पीएगा।*
.
*पोते को देखने के लिए तुम जिंदा रहोगी, तभी तो देख पाओगी।*
.
*अब देखने के लिए दो आंखें भी देनी ही पड़ेंगी।*
.
*फिर भी वह बोले – जो तुमने मांगा, वे सब सत्य होगा। इतना कहकर गणेश जी अंर्तध्यान हो गए।*
.
*कुछ समय बाद गणेश जी की कृपा से बुढ़िया के घर पोता हुआ।*
.
*बेटे का कारोबार चल निकला तथा बुढ़िया की आंखों की रौशनी वापस लौट आई।*
.
*बुढ़िया अपने परिवार सहित सुख पूर्वक जीवन व्यतीत करने लगी।*

* It was a long time ago that there lived a blind old lady in a village.* , *She was the ultimate devotee of Ganesha.* , Even though it was not visible with the eyes, but she would have been engrossed in the worship of Ganesha in the morning and evening. , * Sitting in front of the idol of Ganesh ji regularly, would praise him.* , *sings hymns and was absorbed in samadhi.* , *Ganesh ji was very pleased with the devotion of the old lady.* , He thought that this old lady always remembers us, but never asks for anything in return. , * He must get the fruit of devotion.* , Thinking like this, Ganesh ji appeared in front of the old lady one day and said -* , * Mai, you are our true devotee.* , We are happy with the faith and belief with which you remember us. , *So you can ask for any boon you want from us.* , * The old lady said – Lord! I do your devotion with love. , * I never even thought of asking.* , *So I don’t want anything.* , * Ganesh ji said again – we have come to give a boon.* , * The old lady said – O Sarveshwar, I do not know how to ask.* , *If you ask, I will ask tomorrow.* , Till then I will consult my son and daughter-in-law also.* , * Ganesh ji returned after promising to come tomorrow.* , There was a son and daughter-in-law in the old lady’s family. , * The old lady told him the whole thing and asked for advice.* , * Son said – Mother, you ask for a lot of money from Ganesh ji. Our poverty will go away. All happiness will be in peace.* , * The daughter-in-law of the old lady said – No, you should ask for the boon of a beautiful grandson.* .* The one who takes the lineage forward, he is also needed.* , * The old lady got confused after hearing the words of the son and daughter-in-law.* , * He thought – these two are talking about their own meaning. , *The old lady made up her mind to take advice from the neighbors.* , * Neighborhood was also kind hearted. He explained to the old woman that your whole life was spent in sorrows.* , * Now whatever little life is left, let it be spent happily. , * What will you do with money or grandchildren!* , * If you do not have eyes, then these worldly things are useless to you.* , *So you ask for both eyes for yourself.* , * The old lady returned home. The old lady got even more confused.* , * He thought – I should ask for something so that my daughter-in-law and son – everyone will be well. , *But what could it be? The whole day was spent in this turmoil.*

Sometimes the old lady would make up her mind to ask for something, sometimes something, but could not determine anything. , * On the second day Ganesh ji appeared again and said * * What did I think, whatever you ask for, it will all be fulfilled by our grace.* , *This is our word.* , Hearing the holy words of Ganesh ji, the old lady said – O Lord, if you are pleased with me, then please give me the boon you want.* , *I want to see my grandson drinking milk in a golden glass.* , * Hearing the words of the old lady, Ganesh ji smiled at her simplicity and simplicity.* , * said – you have cheated me.* , * I told you to ask for a boon, but you have asked for everything in one boon. , * You have asked for your long life and both eyes.* , * asked for money for son and grandson for daughter-in-law.* , There will be a grandson, there will be a lot of money, only then he will drink milk in a glass of gold.* , * You will be alive to see the grandson, only then will you be able to see.* , * Now you have to give two eyes to see it.* , Still he said – Whatever you asked for, they will all be true. Saying this, Ganesh ji disappeared. , After some time, by the grace of Ganesh ji, the grandson was born in the house of the old lady.* , * The son’s business went on and the old woman’s eyesight returned. , * The old lady started living happily with her family.*
