एक बार की बात है महाभारत के युद्ध के बाद भगवान श्री कृष्ण और अर्जुन द्वारिका गये पर इस बार रथ अर्जुन चलाकर के ले गये। द्वारिका पहुँचकर अर्जुन बहुत थक गये इसलिए विश्राम करने के लिए अतिथि भवन में चले गये।
शाम के समय रूक्मणी जी ने कृष्ण को भोजन परोसा तो कृष्ण बोले–’घर में अतिथि आये हुए हैं हम उनके बिना भोजन कैसे कर लें ?’
रूक्मणी जी ने कहा–’भगवन आप आरम्भ करिये मैं अर्जुन को बुलाकर लाती हूँ।’ जैसे ही रूक्मणी जी वहाँ पहुँचीं तो उन्होंने देखा कि अर्जुन सोये हुए हैं और उनके रोम-रोम से कृष्ण नाम की ध्वनि प्रस्फुटित हो रही है तो ये जगाना तो भूल गयीं और मन्द-मन्द स्वर में ताली बजाने लगीं।
इधर नारद जी ने कृष्ण से कहा–’भगवान भोग ठण्डा हो रहा है।’
कृष्ण बोले–’अतिथि के बिना हम नहीं करेंगे।’
नारद जी बोले–’मैं बुलाकर लाता हूँ।’ नारद जी ने वहाँ का नजारा देखा तो ये भी जगाना भूल गये और इन्होंने वीणा बजाना शुरू कर दिया।
इधर सत्यभामा जी बोली–’प्रभु भोग ठण्डा हो रहा है आप प्रारम्भ तो करिये।’
भगवान बोले–’हम अतिथि के बिना नहीं कर सकते।’
सत्यभामा जी बोलीं–’मैं बुलाकर लाती हूँ।’ ये वहाँ पहुँची तो इन्होंने देखा कि अर्जुन सोये हुए हैं और उनका रोम-रोम कृष्ण नाम का कीर्तन कर रहा है और रूक्मनी जी ताली बजा रही हैं नारद जी वीणा बजा रहे हैं तो ये भी जगाना भूल गयीं और इन्होंने नाचना शुरू कर दिया।
इधर भगवान बोले–’सब बोल के जाते हैं भोग ठण्डा हो रहा है पर हमारी चिन्ता किसी को नहीं है, चलकर देखता हूँ वहाँ ऐसा क्या हो रहा है जो सब हमको ही भूल गये।’
प्रभु ने वहाँ जाकर के देखा तो वहाँ तो स्वर लहरी चल रही है। अर्जुन सोते-सोते कीर्तन कर रहे हैं, रूक्मणी जी ताली बजा रही हैं, नारद जी वीणा बजा रहे हैं, और सत्यभामा जी नृत्य कर रही हैं।
ये देखकर भगवान के नेत्र सजल हो गये और प्रभु ने अर्जुन के चरण दबाना शुरू कर दिया। जैसे ही प्रभु के नेत्रों से प्रेमाश्रुओं की बूँदें अर्जुन के चरणों पर पड़ी तो अर्जुन छटपटा के उठे और बोले–’प्रभु ये क्या हो रहा है।’
भगवान बोले–’अर्जुन तुमने मुझे रोम-रोम में बसा रखा है इसीलिए तो तुम मुझे सबसे अधिक प्रिय हो’ और गोविन्द ने अर्जुन को गले से लगा लिया।

Once upon a time, after the war of Mahabharata, Lord Krishna and Arjuna went to Dwarka, but this time Arjuna drove the chariot. Arjuna was very tired after reaching Dwarka, so he went to the guest house to rest. In the evening, when Rukmini ji served food to Krishna, Krishna said – ‘Guests have come in the house, how can we have food without them?’ Rukmini ji said- ‘God you start, I will bring Arjuna by calling him.’ As soon as Rukmini ji reached there, she saw that Arjuna was sleeping and the sound of Krishna’s name was emanating from his hair, so he forgot to wake up and started clapping in a soft voice. Here Narad ji said to Krishna- ‘Lord Bhog is getting cold.’ Krishna said – ‘Without the guest we will not do.’ Narad ji said – ‘I will bring it by calling.’ When Narad ji saw the sight there, he forgot to wake up and started playing the veena. Here Satyabhama ji said – ‘Lord, the enjoyment is getting cold, you should start it.’ God said – ‘We cannot do without the guest.’ Satyabhama ji said – ‘I will bring it by calling.’ When she reached there, she saw that Arjuna was sleeping and her romance was chanting the name of Krishna and Rukmani ji was clapping and Narad ji was playing the Veena, so she also forgot to wake up and started dancing. Here God said – ‘Everyone goes by speaking, the enjoyment is getting cold, but no one is worried about us, I will walk and see what is happening there that everyone has forgotten us.’ When the Lord went there and saw, there is a voice wave going on there. Arjuna is doing kirtan while sleeping, Rukmani ji is clapping, Narad ji is playing the Veena, and Satyabhama ji is dancing. Seeing this, Lord’s eyes lit up and Lord started pressing Arjuna’s feet. As soon as the tears of love fell on Arjuna’s feet from the eyes of the Lord, Arjuna got up in a rage and said – ‘Lord, what is happening.’ God said- ‘Arjuna, you have kept me settled in Rome and Rome, that’s why you are the most dear to me’ and Govind hugged Arjuna.
