एक बार कलकत्ता से बूढ़े ब्राह्मण श्री बिहारी जी के दर्शन के लिए वृंदावन आये तो प्रभु से मिलने के बाद वहीं के हो गए।
उन्होंने मंदिर के गोस्वामी जी से सेवा मांगी तो स्वामी जी ने कहा – बाबा! इस उम्र में आप क्या सेवा कर पाओगे?
बाबा ने बहुत विनती की तो स्वामी जी ने श्री बिहारी जी की चौखट पर रात की चौकीदारी की सेवा लगा दी और कहा – बाबा! आपको यह ध्यान रखना है कि कोई चोर चकुटा मंदिर में प्रवेश न कर पाए।
बाबा ने बड़े भाव से सेवा स्वीकार की।
कई वर्ष बीत गये सेवा करते हुए।
एक बार क्या देखते हैं कि बिहारी जी आधी रात को चल दिये सेवाकुंज की ओर, तो बाबा भी चल दिए उनके पीछे पीछे! सेवाकुंज के नजदीक पहुंचने पर बिहारी जी थक गए। उन्होंने पीछे मुड़कर देखा तो बाबा भी उनके पीछे थे।
उन्होंने बाबा से कहा कि, मैं बहुत थक गया हूँ आप मुझे सेवाकुंज तक तो पहुंचा दो।
बाबा श्री बांके बिहारी जी को अपने कंधों पर बैठाकर सेवाकुंज की चौखट पर ले गए।
प्रभु ने बाबा से कहा – मुझे यहीं उतार दो और मेरा इंतजार करो।
बाबा के मन में आया कि प्रभु इतनी रात में सेवाकुंज में क्या करने आयें हैं? जानने की इच्छा से उन्होंने आले से झांक कर देखा तो उन्हें दिव्य प्रकाश नज़र आया। उस प्रकाश में उन्होंने श्री बिहारी जी को श्री राधा जी संग रास करते हुए देखा। बाबा की हालत पागलों जैसी हो गई और गिर कर बेहोश हो गए।
सुबह बिहारी जी ने बाबा को पुकारा और बाबा से कहा – बाबा! मुझे मंदिर तक नहीं ले जाओगे।
बाबा ने बिहारी जी को सुबह चार बजे मंदिर में पहुंचाया और गोस्वामी जी से सारा वृत्तांत कहा।
गोस्वामी जी मंगला आरती के लिए बिहारी जी को उठाने लगे तो बाबा ने उनके पांव पकड़ लिये और कहने लगे – मेरे गोविन्द अभी तो सोयें हैं!
कहते हैं कि उसी दिन से साल में जन्माष्टमी को छोड़कर कभी भी श्री बांके बिहारी जी की मंगला आरती नहीं हुई और उसी दिन ही श्री बिहारी जी ने उस बाबा को अपने सेवाधाम में बुला लिया। जय श्री कुंजबिहारी श्री हरिदास जी।जय श्री राधे राधे
