भगवान श्रीकृष्ण का जन्म भाद्रपद माह के कृष्ण पक्ष की अष्टमी तिथि, बुधवार, रोहिणी नक्षत्र और वृषभ के चंद्रमा की स्थिति में हुआ था।
अष्टमी तिथि की मध्य रात्रि को जन्म लेने का प्रमुख कारण चंद्रवंशी होना है। भगवान राम सूर्यवंशी हैं, क्योंकि उनका जन्म सुबह हुआ था और भगवान कृष्ण चंद्रवंशी हैं क्योंकि उनका जन्म रात्रि में हुआ था।
श्रीकृष्ण चंद्रवंशी हैं और चंद्रदेव उनके पूर्वज। चंद्रदेव के पुत्र बुध हैं, इसलिए भगवान ने जन्म के लिए बुधवार का दिन चुना। वहीं रोहिणी चंद्रमा की पत्नी व नक्षत्र हैं, इसी कारण रोहिणी नक्षत्र में भगवान ने जन्म लिया।
वहीं अष्टमी तिथि शक्ति का प्रतीक मानी जाती है और भगवान विष्णु इसी शक्ति के कारण पूरे ब्रह्मांड का संचालन करते हैं।
इसलिए बुधवार के दिन रोहिणी नक्षत्र में अष्टमी तिथि को भगवान कृष्ण का जन्म हुआ, जिस समय उनके सभी पूर्वज उपस्थित थे।

Lord Krishna was born on Ashtami Tithi of Krishna Paksha of Bhadrapada month, Wednesday, in Rohini Nakshatra and Moon in Taurus.
The main reason for being born on the midnight of Ashtami Tithi is to be Chandravanshi. Lord Rama is Suryavanshi because he was born in the morning and Lord Krishna is Chandravanshi because he was born in the night.
Shri Krishna is Chandravanshi and Chandradev is his ancestor. Chandradev’s son is Mercury, so God chose Wednesday as the day for his birth. Whereas Rohini is the wife and Nakshatra of Moon, that is why God was born in Rohini Nakshatra.
On the other hand, Ashtami Tithi is considered a symbol of power and Lord Vishnu operates the entire universe due to this power.
Hence Lord Krishna was born on Ashtami Tithi in Rohini Nakshatra on a Wednesday, when all his ancestors were present.
