आतर भक्त गजेंद्र

भक्त तुलसीदास जी का अध्ययन काफी गंभीर एवं व्यापक था। अपने ग्रंथ श्री रामचरितमानस में तुलसीदास जी ने भगवत् गीता के भक्तिमूलक श्लोकों को चौपाई के माध्यम से बड़े ही सरल ढंग से प्रकट किया है। वे लिखते हैं –
राम भगत जग चारि प्रकारा।
सुकृती चारिउ अनघ उदारा।।
अर्थ – जगत में चार प्रकार के प्रभु राम भक्त होते हैं और चारों सुकृति होते हैं तथा पुण्यात्मा , पापरहित और उदार होते हैं।
सुकृतियों में एक श्रेणी आर्त्त भक्तों की होती है।

तुलसीदास जी लिखते हैं –
जपहिं नामु जन आरत भारी।
मिटहिं कुसंकट होहिं सुखारी।।
अर्थ – संकट से घबराए हुए आर्त्त भक्त प्रभु का नाम जप करते हैं , तो उनके बड़े भारी संकट भी मिट जाते हैं और वे सुखी हो जाते हैं।
आर्त्त भक्त भगवान का नाम जप करते हुए उनकी शरण में जाता है।

भक्त तुलसीदास जी ” आर्त्त ” के रूप में गजेंद्र का दृष्टांत प्रस्तुत करते हैं।
श्रीमद् भागवत महापुराण के अनुसार एक बार सरोवर में एक बलवान ग्राह (मगर) ने गजेंद्र के पैर को पकड़ लिया। गजेंद्र ने विपत्ति में पड़कर अपनी शक्ति के अनुसार अपने को छुड़ाने की कोशिश की , पर छुड़ा न सका। अन्य हाथियों ने भी प्रयास किया , तो भी गजेंद्र अपने पैर को छुड़ा न पाया , तब उसने अंत में भगवान की शरण ली।

प्रार्थना करते हुए गजेंद्र ने कहा –
यं धर्मकामार्थविमुक्तिकामा
भजन्त इष्टां गतिमाप्नुवन्ति।
किं त्वाशिषो रात्यपि देहमव्ययं
करोतु मेऽदभ्दयो विमोक्षणम्।।
अर्थ – धर्म , अर्थ , काम और मोक्ष की कामना से मनुष्य भगवान का भजन करके अपनी अभीष्ट वस्तु प्राप्त कर लेते हैं। इतना ही नहीं , वे (भगवान) उनको सभी प्रकार का सुख देते हैं और अपने ही जैसा अविनाशी पार्षद शरीर भी देते हैं। वे ही परम दयालु प्रभु मेरा उद्धार करें।

भगवान आर्त्त भक्त गजेंद्र को देखकर गरुड़ को छोड़कर कूद पड़े और कृपा करके गजेंद्र के साथ ही ग्राह को भी बड़ी शीघ्रता से सरोवर से बाहर निकाल लाए और फिर भगवान श्री हरि ने चक्र से ग्राह का मुंह फाड़ डाला और गजेंद्र को छुड़ा लिया। इसके बाद गजेंद्र का गज शरीर गिर गया। वह ईश्वर के पार्षद के रूप में मुक्त हो गया।

किसी भी कारण से प्रभु की शरण में जाना और भगवान का भजन करना सुकृती का लक्षण होता है। भक्त तुलसीदास जी इस दृष्टांत द्वारा हमें ” प्रभु का नाम-जप ” निरंतर करने का संदेश दे रहे हैं।

Devotee Tulsidas ji’s study was very serious and extensive. In his book Shri Ramcharitmanas, Tulsidas ji has expressed the devotional verses of Bhagwat Geeta in a very simple manner through Chaupai. they write – Ram Bhagat Jag Chari Prachara. Sukriti Chariyu Anagh Udara. Meaning – There are four types of Lord Ram devotees in the world and all four are virtuous and virtuous, sinless and generous. One category among Sukritis is of Arta devotees.

Tulsidas ji writes – Japahin namu jan aarat bhari. There are miseries and happiness. Meaning – When devotees who are afraid of trouble chant the name of the Lord, even their biggest troubles disappear and they become happy. The devotee takes refuge in God while chanting his name.

Devotee Tulsidas ji presents the example of Gajendra in the form of “Artta”. According to Shrimad Bhagwat Mahapuran, once in the lake a strong crocodile (crocodile) caught hold of Gajendra’s leg. Gajendra fell into trouble and tried to free himself as per his power, but could not. Even though other elephants tried, Gajendra could not free his leg, then he finally took refuge in God.

While praying, Gajendra said – who desires righteousness, desire, wealth and liberation Those who worship attain the desired destination. What is the inexhaustible body that gives you blessings? May the unfailing Lord grant me liberation. Meaning: With the desire for Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha, human beings attain their desired object by worshiping the Lord. Moreover, He (God) gives them all kinds of happiness and also gives them an indestructible associate body like His own. May He, the most merciful Lord, save me.

Seeing Gajendra, devotee of Lord Aarta jumped leaving Garuda and by his grace brought Gajendra as well as Graha out of the lake very quickly and then Lord Shri Hari tore the mouth of Graha with his Chakra and freed Gajendra. After this Gajendra’s body fell down. He became free as God’s counselor.

Going to God for any reason and worshiping God is a sign of happiness. Devotee Tulsidas ji is giving us the message of continuously chanting the name of the Lord through this illustration.
