करमानंद अपने गायन से प्रभु की सेवा किया करते थे। इनका गायन इतना भावपूर्ण होता था कि पत्थर-हृदय भी पिघल जाता था।

ज्यादा दिनों तक इनको गृहस्थ जीवन रास नहीं आया और ये सब कुछ छोड़कर निकल पड़े।
.
इनके पास केवल दो चीज़ें ही थी… एक छड़ी और दूसरा ठाकुरबटुआ जिसे ये गले में लटका कर चलते थे।
.
ये जहाँ विश्राम करने के लिये रुकते थे वहाँ छड़ी को गाड़ देते थे और उस पर ठाकुर बटुआ लटका देते थे। इससे ठाकुर जी को झूला झूलने का आंनद मिलता था।

एक दिन ये सुबह-सुबह ठाकुर जी की पूजा करके श्री ठाकुर जी को गले में लटका कर चल दिए।

उस समय ये भगवन्नाम में इतने डूबे हुए थे कि छड़ी को लेना भूल गए।
.
अब जब दूसरी जगह ये विश्राम करने के लिये रुके तो इन्हें छड़ी की याद आयी!
.
अब समस्या थी कि ठाकुर जी को कैसे और कहाँ पधरावें? श्री ठाकुर जी में प्रेम की अधिकता के कारण इन्हें उनपर प्रणय-रोष हो आया।
.
ये गुस्सा करते हुए बोले; कि ठाकुर हम तो जीव हैं, हम कितना याद रखें? हम छड़ी भूल गए थे तो आपको याद दिलाना चाहिए था न!
.
अब दूसरी छड़ी कहाँ से लाएंगे आप को पध्राने के लिए? पिछली जगह भी बहुत दूर है और ये भी पक्का नहीं है कि वहाँ छड़ी मिल भी जाएगी या नही।
.
ये ठाकुर जी से खूब लड़े और बोले; बस छड़ी लाकर दो!!

श्री ठाकुर जी इनकी डाट-फटकार पर खूब रीझे।

प्रभु की योगमाया ने छड़ी लाकर दे दी! अब ये फिर रोने लगे कि इन्होंने प्रभु को क्यों डाँटा?
.
जब इन्होंने क्षमा मांगी तो प्रभु ने कहा कि यह मेरी ही लीला थी, मुझे डाँट सुननी थी।
.
भगवान ने कहा कि जब यहाँ हम और तुम दो ही हैं तो अगर कुछ कहने-सुनने, लड़ने-झगड़ने की इच्छा होगी तो कहाँ जायेंगे,
.
प्रभु की यह बात सुनकर श्री करमानंद जी तो प्रेम सागर में डूब गए!

कुछ करो या न करो पर प्रभु से प्रेम ज़रूर करो। प्रभु से प्रेम करोगे तो भगवान का अनंत प्रेम पाओगे।
.
प्रेम में रहोगे तो हर क्रिया साधना बन जायेगी, जैसे छड़ी पर लटकाए जाना, प्रभु को झूला झुलाने की सेवा बन गई।

प्रेम से की गई हर सेवा श्री ठाकुर जी को रिझा देती है। प्रेम नहीं है तो कुछ नहीं, सब व्यर्थ हो जायेगा।

प्रभु से प्रेम करो तो कुछ भी कहोगे, श्री हरि खुद दौड़े चले आयेंगे जैसे छड़ी के लिये डाँट पड़ने पर खुद भक्त के सामने छड़ी लेकर आ गए श्री लाड़ली लाल जू विजयते जय श्री राधे राधे
Karmanand used to serve the Lord with his singing. We forgot the stick, so you should have reminded us, didn’t we? , Now from where will you get the second stick to teach you? The back place is also very far away and it is not even sure whether the stick will be found there or not. , He fought a lot with Thakur ji and said; Just bring the stick!! , Shri Thakur ji was greatly pleased at his rebuke. , Lord’s Yogmaya brought the stick and gave it! Now they started crying again that why they scolded the Lord? , When he asked for forgiveness, the Lord said that this was my Leela, I had to listen to the scolding. , God said that when there are only two of us and you, then if there is a desire to say, listen, fight and quarrel, then where will you go, , Hearing this from the Lord, Shri Karmanand ji drowned in the ocean of love! , Do something or don’t, but do love the Lord. If you love God, you will get eternal love of God. , If you remain in love, then every action will become a sadhna, like being hung on a stick has become a service to swing the Lord. , Every service done with love pleases Shri Thakur ji. If there is no love then nothing, everything will be in vain. , If you love the Lord, you will say whatever, Shri Hari himself will come running like when he was scolded for the stick, he himself came with a stick in front of the devotee, Shri Ladli Lal Ju Vijayate Jai Shri Radhe Radhe
