पापांकुशा एकादशी महत्व और पूजन विधि

गुरुवार के दिन पापांकुशा एकादशी है। हिन्दू धर्म में एकादशी तिथि को बहुत ही पवित्र माना गया है। आश्विन माह में नवरात्र और दशहरा पर्व के बाद एकादशी तिथि पड़ती है। आश्विन मास के शुक्ल पक्ष की एकादशी को पापांकुशा एकादशी कहा जाता है। पापांकुशा एकादशी व्रत को सभी प्रकार के पापों से मुक्ति प्रदान कर सुख देने वाला माना गया है। विजयादशमी के बाद राम और भरत का मिलन भी इसी एकादशी को हुआ था।

पापांकुशा एकादशी ऐसे पड़ा नाम

पाप रूपी हाथी को व्रत के पुण्य रूपी अंकुश से बेधने के कारण ही इसका नाम पापाकुंशा एकादशी हुआ। इस दिन मौन रहकर भगवद् स्मरण तथा भजन-कीर्तन करने का विधान है। इस प्रकार भगवान की आराधना करने से मन शुद्ध होता है और मनुष्य में सदगुणों का समावेश होता है। इस व्रत के प्रभाव से अनेकों अश्वमेघ और सूर्य यज्ञ करने के समान फल की प्राप्ति होती है। इसलिए पापांकुशा एकादशी व्रत का बहुत महत्व है।

पापांकुशा एकादशी का महत्व

पौराणिक कथाओं के अनुसार, जैसा फल कठिन तपस्या करके प्राप्त किया जा सकता है, वैसा ही फल पापांकुशा एकादशी का व्रत करके प्राप्त किया जा सकता है। पापांकुशा एकादशी से जुड़ी धार्मिक मान्यतानुसार, जो भी व्यक्ति सच्चे मन और श्रद्धा से इस एकादशी का व्रत करता है, उसे साक्षात बैकुंठधाम की प्राप्ति होती है। इस व्रत को करने से सभी पापों से मुक्ति मिल जाती है। पापांकुशा एकादशी का व्रत करने से चंद्रमा के खराब प्रभाव को भी रोका जा सकता है।

एक अन्य कथा इस प्रकार है

एक बार युधिष्ठिर ने श्रीकृष्ण से पूछा कि “आश्विन शुक्ल पक्ष की एकादशी का क्या महत्त्व है और इस अवसर पर किसकी पूजा होती है एवं इस व्रत का क्या लाभ है

युधिष्ठिर की मधुर वाणी को सुनकर गुणातीत श्रीकृष्ण भगवान बोले- आश्विन शुक्ल एकादशी ‘पापांकुशा’ के नाम से जानी जाती है। नाम से ही स्पष्ट है कि यह पाप का निरोध करती है अर्थात उनसे रक्षा करती है। इस एकादशी के व्रत से मनुष्य को अर्थ, मोक्ष और काम इन तीनों की प्राप्ति होती है। जो व्यक्ति यह व्रत करता है, उसके सारे संचित पाप नष्ट हो जाते हैं। इस दिन व्रती को सुबह स्नान करके विष्णु भगवान का ध्यान करना चाहिए और उनके नाम से व्रत और पूजन करना चाहिए। व्रती को रात्रि में जागरण करना चाहिए। जो भक्ति पूर्वक इस व्रत का पालन करते हैं, उनका जीवन सुखमय होता है और वह भोगों मे लिप्त नहीं होता।

श्रीकृष्ण कहते हैं, जो इस पापांकुशा एकदशी का व्रत रखते हैं, वे भक्त कमल के समान होते हैं जो संसार रूपी माया के भवर में भी पाप से अछूते रहते हैं। कलिकाल में जो भक्त इस व्रत का पालन करते हैं, उन्हें वही पुण्य प्राप्त होता है, जो सतयुग में कठोर तपस्या करने वाले ऋषियों को मिलता था। इस एकादशी व्रत का जो व्यक्ति शास्त्रोक्त विधि से अनुष्ठान करते हैं, वे न केवल अपने लिए पुण्य संचय करते हैं, बल्कि उनके पुण्य से मातृगण व पितृगण भी पाप मुक्त हो जाते हैं । इस एकादशी का व्रत करके व्रती को द्वादशी के दिन श्रेष्ठ ब्राह्मणों को भोजन कराना चाहिए और अपनी क्षमता के अनुसार उन्हें दान देना चाहिए।

मोक्ष की होती प्राप्ति

एकादशी के दिन दान करने से शुभ फलों की प्राप्ति होती है। महाभारत काल में स्वयं भगवान श्री कृष्ण ने धर्मराज युधिष्ठिर को पापाकुंशा एकादशी का महत्व बताया। भगवान श्री कृष्ण ने कहा कि यह एकादशी पाप का निरोध करती है अर्थात पाप कर्मों से रक्षा करती है। इस एकादशी के व्रत से मनुष्य को अर्थ और मोक्ष की प्राप्ति होती है। इस दिन श्रद्धा और भक्ति भाव से पूजा तथा ब्राह्मणों को दान व दक्षिणा देना चाहिए

Papankusha Ekadashi is on Thursday. Ekadashi Tithi is considered very sacred in Hinduism. Ekadashi Tithi falls after Navratri and Dussehra festival in the month of Ashwin. Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha of Ashwin month is called Papankusha Ekadashi. Papankusha Ekadashi fast is considered to give happiness by providing freedom from all kinds of sins. After Vijayadashami, the meeting of Rama and Bharat also took place on this Ekadashi.

Papankusha Ekadashi got its name like this

It was named Papakunsha Ekadashi because of the sinful elephant being pierced by the virtue of fasting. On this day, there is a law to keep silent and remember God and do bhajan-kirtan. In this way, by worshiping God, the mind is purified and virtues are included in man. Due to the effect of this fast, results are obtained similar to performing many Ashwamedha and Surya Yagyas. That is why Papankusha Ekadashi fast is of great importance.

Significance of Papankusha Ekadashi

According to mythology, the same result can be obtained by observing a fast on Papankusha Ekadashi. According to the religious belief associated with Papankusha Ekadashi, whoever observes this Ekadashi fast with true heart and devotion, he attains the abode of Baikuntha. By observing this fast one gets freedom from all the sins. By observing Papankusha Ekadashi fast, the malefic effects of Moon can also be prevented.

Another story goes like this

Once Yudhishthira asked Shri Krishna what is the importance of Ekadashi of Ashwin Shukla Paksha and who is worshiped on this occasion and what is the benefit of this fast.

Hearing the melodious voice of Yudhishthira, Lord Krishna said – Ashwin Shukla Ekadashi is known as ‘Papankusha’. It is clear from the name that it prevents sin, that is, it protects from them. By fasting on this Ekadashi, one gets Artha, Moksha and Kama. The person who observes this fast, all his accumulated sins are destroyed. On this day the fasting should take bath in the morning and meditate on Lord Vishnu and fast and worship in his name. The fasting should do Jagran in the night. Those who follow this fast with devotion, their life is happy and they do not indulge in indulgences.

Sri Krishna says, those devotees who observe the fast of this Papankusha Ekadashi are like lotuses who remain untouched from sin even in the vortex of worldly illusion. The devotees who observe this fast in Kalikal, get the same virtue as the sages who did severe penance in the golden age. Those who perform the rituals of this Ekadashi fast according to the scriptural method, not only do they accumulate merit for themselves, but their mother and father also become free from their sins. By observing this Ekadashi fast, the devotee should feed the best Brahmins on the day of Dwadashi and donate them according to their capacity.

attainment of salvation

Donating on the day of Ekadashi gives auspicious results. In the Mahabharata period, Lord Krishna himself told Dharmaraja Yudhishthira the importance of Papakunsha Ekadashi. Lord Krishna said that this Ekadashi prevents sin, that is, protects from sinful deeds. By observing this Ekadashi fast, a person attains meaning and salvation. On this day, worship should be done with reverence and devotion and donations and dakshina should be given to Brahmins.
