कार्तिक मास में आकाशदीप की महिमा

कार्तिक महीने में आकाशदीप का भी महत्व माना गया है. जो व्यक्ति कार्तिक मास आने पर प्रात:काल स्नान करके आकाशदीप का दान करता है वह संपूर्ण लोकों का स्वामी और समस्त संपत्तियों से संपन्न होकर इस लोक में सुख भोगता है और अन्त में मुक्ति प्राप्त करता है. इसलिए कार्तिक में स्नान तथा दान आदि कार्य करते हुए भगवान विष्णु के मन्दिर के कंगूरे (एक प्रकार से दीवार के ऊपर ही या मन्दिर के बाहरी भाग में भी जला सकते हैं) पर एक मास तक दीप दान करना चाहिए. तुलसी दल से भगवान विष्णु की या श्रीकृष्ण जी की पूजा करके रात्रि में दीपदान करते हुए निम्न मन्त्र का उच्चारण करना चाहिए :-

दामोदराय विश्वाय विश्वरूप धराय च ।

नमस्कृत्वा प्रदास्यामि व्योमदीपं हरिप्रियम् ।।

अर्थात – मैं सर्वरूप एवं विश्वरूपधारी भगवान दामोदर को प्रणाम करके यह आकाशदीप प्रदान करता/करती हूँ, जो भगवान को परमप्रिय है.

व्रती को प्रात:काल स्नान तथा पूजा का क्रम नियमपूर्वक करते रहना चाहिए. कार्तिक मास की समाप्ति पर आकाशदीप के नियम को भी समाप्त कर ब्राह्मणों को भोजन कराकर इस अमिट फल देने वाले व्रत का समापन करना चाहिए. कीट और काँटों से भरी दुर्गम एवं ऊँची-नीची भूमि पर दीपदान करने वाला व्यक्ति नरक नहीं जाता. प्राचीनकाल में राजा धर्मनन्द आकाशदीप दान के प्रभाव से श्रेष्ठ विमान पर आरुढ़ होकर विष्णु लोक को गया था. कार्तिक मास में “हरिप्रबोधिनी एकादशी” को भगवान के श्री विग्रह के सामने कपूर का दीपक जलाने वाले व्यक्ति के कुल में उत्पन्न सभी मनुष्य भगवान के प्रिय बन जाते हैं.

एकादशी से, तुला राशि के सूर्य से या पूर्णिमा से भगवान की प्रसन्नता के लिए आकाशदीप प्रारंभ करना उत्तम होता है.

नम: पितृभ्य: प्रेतेभ्यो नमो धर्माय विष्णवे ।

नमो यमाय रूद्राय कान्तारपतये नम: ।।

अर्थात – पितरों को प्रणाम है, प्रेतों को प्रणाम है, धर्मस्वरूप विष्णु को प्रणाम है, यमराज को प्रणाम है तथा दुर्गम मार्ग में रक्षा करने वाले भगवान रूद्र को प्रणाम है.

जो मनुष्य इस मन्त्र से पितरों के लिए आकाश में दीपदान करता है, उसके पितर यदि नरक में हों, तो उन्हें भी उत्तम गति प्राप्त होती है. जो मनुष्य देवालय में, नदी के तट पर, सड़क पर, नींद लेने के स्थान पर दीप देता है, उसे सर्वतोमुखी उन्नति प्राप्त होकर लक्ष्मी की प्राप्ति होती है. ब्राह्मण अथवा अन्य किसी भी जाति के व्यक्ति के द्वारा मन्दिर में दीपदान करने से वह भगवान की कृपा के पात्र होते हैं.

Akashdeep is also considered important in the month of Kartik. The person who takes bath in the morning and donates the sky lamp when the month of Kartik arrives, becomes the master of all the worlds and is endowed with all the wealth, enjoys happiness in this world and ultimately attains liberation. Therefore, during Kartik, while taking bath and doing charity etc., one should donate a lamp for a month on the platform of Lord Vishnu’s temple (in a way, it can be lit on top of the wall or on the outside of the temple also). After worshiping Lord Vishnu or Lord Krishna with Tulsi group and donating a lamp at night, the following mantra should be chanted:-

O Dāmodara, you are the universal form of the universe.

I offer my obeisances to you and offer you the sky lamp dear to the Lord Hari.

Meaning – I offer this sky lamp by paying obeisance to Lord Damodar, who is the embodiment of all forms and the world, which is very dear to God.

The fasting person should continue taking bath and worship regularly in the morning. At the end of Kartik month, the rule of Akashdeep should also be abolished and this fast which gives indelible results should be concluded by serving food to the Brahmins. A person who donates a lamp on inaccessible and hilly land full of insects and thorns does not go to hell. In ancient times, King Dharmanand, with the influence of Akashdeep Daan, had gone to Vishnu Lok on a superior plane. All human beings born in the family of a person who lights a camphor lamp in front of the Lord’s idol on “Hariprabodhini Ekadashi” in the month of Kartik become God’s favourite.

It is best to start Akashdeep from Ekadashi, from the Sun in Libra or from the full moon to please God.

I offer my respectful obeisances unto the forefathers, the dead, and to Lord Viṣṇu, the Supreme Personality of Godhead.

I offer my respectful obeisances unto Yama, Rudra, lord of the forests.

That means – salutations to the ancestors, salutations to the ghosts, salutations to Vishnu in the form of religion, salutations to Yamraj and salutations to Lord Rudra who protects on inaccessible paths.

The person who offers a lamp to the sky for his ancestors with this mantra, if his ancestors are in hell, they also get the best path. The person who lights a lamp in a temple, on the banks of a river, on the road or at a place to sleep, gets all-round progress and attains Goddess Lakshmi. If a Brahmin or a person of any other caste donates a lamp to the temple, he becomes eligible for God’s blessings.
