गीता प्रथम अध्याय का महत्व

एक समय पार्वती जी ने पूछा है महादेव जी किस ज्ञान के बल पर संसार के सब लोग आपको शिव कहकर पूजते हैं। मृगछाला ओढ़े और अपने सभी अंगों में शमशान की विभूति लगाएं, गले में सर्प और नर मुंडों की माला पहने हुए हो। इनमें तो कोई भी पवित्र नहीं, फिर आप किस ज्ञान से पवित्र माने जाते हैं? तब महादेव ने उत्तर दिया कि हे प्रिये सुनो मैं गीता ज्ञान को अपने हृदय में धारण करने से पवित्र माना जाता हूं।

इस ज्ञान से मुझे बाहर के कर्म नहीं व्यापते। तब पार्वती जी ने कहा कि हे भगवान जिस गीता ज्ञान की आप ऐसी स्तुति करते हैं, उसके श्रवण करने से कोई कृतार्थ भी हुआ है? महादेव ने उत्तर देते हुए कहा कि इस ज्ञान को सुनकर बहुत से जीव कृतार्थ हुए हैं और आगे भी होंगे। मैं तुम्हें एक पुरातन कथा कहता हूं। तुम सुनो।

एक समय पाताल लोक में शेषनाग की शय्या पर श्री नारायण जी नैन मूंदकर आनंद में मग्न थे। उस वक्त भगवान के चरण दबाते हुए लक्ष्मी जी ने पूछा हे प्रभू! निद्रा और आलस्य तो उन पुरुषों को व्यापता है जो जीव तामसी होते हैं, फिर आप तो तीनों गुणों से अतीत हो। आप तो वासुदेव हो, आप जो नेत्र मूंद रहे हों, इससे मुझके बड़ा आश्चर्य है। नारायण जी ने उत्तर देते हुए कहा हे लक्ष्मी! मुझको निद्रा आलस्य नहीं व्यापता, एक शब्द रूप जो भगवद्गीता है उसमें जो ज्ञान है उसके आकार रुप है, यह गीता शब्द रूप अवतार है, इस गीता में यह अंग है पांच अध्याय मेरे मुख है, दस अध्याय मेरी भुजा हैं, सोलहवां अध्याय मेरा हृदय और मन और मेरा उदर है, सत्रहवां अध्याय मेरी जंघा है, अठारहवां अध्याय मेरे चरण हैं। गीता श्लोक ही मेरी नाड़ियां हैं और जो गीता के अक्षर है वो मेरा रोम हैं। ऐसा मेरा शब्द रुपी जो गीता ज्ञान है उसी के अर्थ मैं हृदय में विचार करता हूं और बहुत आनंद प्राप्त होते हूं। लक्ष्मी जी बोलीं हे श्री नारायण जी ! जब श्री गीता जी का इतना ज्ञान है तो उसको सुनकर कोई जीव कृतार्थ भी हुआ है। सो मुझसे कहो। तब श्री नारायण ने कहा हे लक्ष्मी! गीता ज्ञान को सुनकर बहुत से जीव कृतार्थ हुए हैं, सो तुम श्रवण करो।

एक व्यक्ति था, जो चाण्डालों के कर्म करता था और तेल नमक का व्यापार करता था। उसने एक बकरी पाली। एक दिन वह बकरी चराने के लिए वन में गया और वृक्ष से पत्ते तोड़ने लगा। वहां, उसे एक सांप से डंस लिया। जिससे वह तुरंत मर गया। मरने के बाद उसने बहुत से नरक भोगे और फिर उसका जन्म बैल के रूप में हुआ। उस बैल को एक भिक्षुक ने मोल लिया। वह भिक्षुक उसपर चढ़कर सारे दिन मांगता फिरे, जो कुछ भिक्षा मांगकर लाता वह उसे अपने परिवार के साथ मिलकर खाता और वो बैल सारी रात द्वार पर खड़ा रहता। उसके खाने पीने का भी कोई ख्याल नहीं करता था। और सुबह होते ही बैल पर चढ़कर फिर मांगने निकल जाता। जब बहुत दिन हो गए तो वह बैल भूख से गिर गया लेकिन, उसके प्राण नहीं निकले। नगर के लोगों ने देखा और उस बैल को कोई तीर्थ का फल दे, तो कोई व्रत का फल दें, तब भी उस बैल के प्राण नहीं छूटे। एक दिन गणिका आई, उसने लोगों से पूछा यह कैसी भीड़ है, तो उन्होंने कहा कि इसके प्राण नहीं निकलते, अनेक पुण्यों का फल दे रहे हैं, तो भी इसकी मुक्ति नहीं होती। तब गणिका ने कहा कि मैंने जो कर्म किया है उसका फल मैंने इस बैल को दिया है। इतना कहते ही बैल की मुक्ति हो गई। तब बैल ने एक ब्राह्मण के घर जन्म लिया। पिता ने उसका नाम सुशर्मा रखा। उसके पिता ने उसे पढ़ाया लिखाया। उसको अपने पिछले जन्म की सुध थी। उसने एक दिन मन में विचार किया, जिस गणिका ने मुझे बैल की योनि से छुड़ाया था उसका दर्शन करूं। विप्र चलते-चलते गणिका के घर गया और कहा आप मुझे पहचानती हैं?
गणिका ने कहा मैं नहीं जानती तुम कौन हो। तब उसने कहा कि मैं वहीं, बैल हूं, जिसको आपने अपने पुण्य दिए थे। तब मैं बैल की योनी से छूटा था। अब मैं विप्र के घर जन्म हूं। आप अपना पुण्य बताएं? गणिका ने कहा कि मैंने अपने जाने पुण्य नहीं किया, परंतु मेरे घर एक तोता है। वह रोज सवेरे कुछ पढ़ता है। मैं उसका वाक्य सुनती हूं, उस पुण्य का फल मैंने तुम्हें दे दिया।
तब विप्र ने तोते से पूछा की तू सवेरे क्या पढ़ता है। तोते ने कहा, मैं पिछले जन्म में विप्र का पुत्र था। मेरे पिता ने मुझे गीता के पहले अध्याय का पाठ सुनाया करते थे। एक दिन मैंने गुरु से कहा कि मुझको आपने क्या पढ़ाया है। तब गुरुजी ने मुझे शाप दिया कि तू तोता बन जा। इसके बाद से मैं तोता बन गया।

एक दिन बहेलिया मुझे पकड़ ले आया और एक विप्र ने मुझे मोल ले लिया। वह विप्र भी अपने पुत्र को गीता का पाठ सिखाता था। तब मैंने भी यह पाठ सीख लिया। उसी दिन विप्र के घर में चोर घुस गए। उन्हें घन तो प्राप्त नहीं हुआ लेकिन, वह मेरा पिंजरा उठा ले आए। उनकी यह गणिका मित्र थी। वह मुझे उसके पास ले आए। सो में नित्य प्रात: गीताजी के पहले अध्याय का पाठ करत हूं। जिसे यह गणिका सुनती है। पर इस गणिका को समझ में नहीं आती। जो मैं पढ़ता हूं, वही, इस गणिका ने तेरे निमित्त दिया था।

वह श्रीगीताजी के पहले अध्याय का फल था। तब विप्र ने कहा कि हे, तोते तू भी विप्र है मेरे आशीर्वाद से तेरा कल्याण हो। सो हे लक्ष्मी! विप्र के इतना कहते ही वह तोता भी मुक्ति को प्राप्त हो गया। तब गणिका ने बुरे कर्म छोड़, भले कर्म ग्रहण किए और नित्य स्नान करके श्री गीताजी के प्रथम अध्याय का पाठ करना शुरू कर दिया जिससे उसकी भी मुक्ति हो गई।

ऐसा है गीता के प्रथम अध्याय के पाठ का महत्व।

Once Parvati ji has asked Mahadev ji, on the strength of which knowledge all the people of the world worship you as Shiva. Wear a deer and wear the cemetery emblem on all your parts, wearing a garland of snakes and male hairs around the neck. None of them are holy, then by what knowledge are you considered holy? Then Mahadev replied that oh dear listen, I am considered holy by holding the knowledge of Gita in my heart.

With this knowledge, external karma does not pervade me. Then Parvati ji said that O Lord, by listening to the knowledge of Gita, which you praise in such a way, has any gratitude been done? Mahadev replied and said that on hearing this knowledge, many living beings have become grateful and will continue to do so. Let me tell you an ancient story. you listen.

Once upon a time, on the bed of Sheshnag in Hades, Shri Narayan ji was engrossed in bliss. At that time, while pressing the feet of God, Lakshmi ji asked, O Lord! Sleep and laziness pervade those men who are tamasic creatures, then you are past the three gunas. You are Vasudev, I am very surprised by the blinding of your eyes. Narayan ji replied and said, O Lakshmi! I do not sleep lazily, the one word form which is in the Bhagavad Gita is the form of the knowledge, this Gita is the incarnation of the word form, this part in this Gita, five chapters are my mouth, ten chapters are my arms, sixteenth chapter my heart. And the mind and my abdomen, the seventeenth chapter is my thigh, the eighteenth chapter is my feet. Gita Shlokas are my Nadis and the letters of Gita are my Rome. I think in my heart the meaning of the knowledge of the Gita in the form of my words and I get a lot of joy. Lakshmi ji said, O Shree Narayan ji! When Shri Gita ji has so much knowledge, some living being has also become grateful by listening to it. So tell me Then Shri Narayan said, O Lakshmi! Many living beings have become grateful by listening to the knowledge of the Gita, so listen to it.

There was a person who did the work of Chandalas and used to do oil and salt business. He raised a goat. One day he went to the forest to feed the goat and started plucking leaves from the tree. There, he was bitten by a snake. Due to which he died immediately. After death he suffered many hells and then he was born as a bull. The bull was bought by a beggar. The beggar climbed on it and went on asking for the whole day, whatever alms he brought, he ate it with his family and the bull stood at the door all night. No one even cared about his food and drink. And as soon as the morning dawned, he would go out to ask again after climbing on the bull. After many days, the bull fell from hunger, but his life did not come out. The people of the city saw and if someone gives the result of pilgrimage to that bull, then someone gives the fruit of the fast, even then that bull’s life did not go away. One day the courtesan came, she asked the people what kind of crowd is this, then they said that its life does not come out, it is giving the fruits of many virtues, even then it is not liberated. Then the courtesan said that I have given the result of the work I have done to this bull. After saying this, the bull was freed. Then the bull took birth in the house of a Brahmin. Her father named her Susharma. His father taught him and wrote. He was worried about his previous birth. One day he thought in his mind, ‘Let me see the courtesan who had rescued me from the bull’s vagina. Vipra went to the courtesan’s house while walking and said, do you recognize me? The courtesan said I don’t know who you are. Then he said that I am the same bull, to whom you had given your virtues. Then I was released from the vulva. Now I am born in Vipra’s house. Will you tell me your virtue? The courtesan said that I did not do any merit in my life, but there is a parrot in my house. He reads something every morning. I listen to his sentence, I have given you the fruit of that virtue. Then Vipra asked the parrot what do you read in the morning. The parrot said, I was the son of Vipra in the previous birth. My father used to recite the first chapter of the Gita to me. One day I told the guru what you have taught me. Then Guruji cursed me that you become a parrot. Since then I have become a parrot.

One day the fowler caught me and a vipra bought me. That Vipra also used to teach the lesson of Gita to his son. Then I also learned this lesson. Thieves entered Vipra’s house the same day. He did not get the cube but, he brought my cage. This courtesan was his friend. He brought me to him. So I read the first chapter of Gitaji every morning. Which this courtesan listens. But this courtesan does not understand. What I read is what this courtesan gave for you.

That was the fruit of the first chapter of Shri Gitaji. Then Vipra said that hey, parrot, you are also Vipra, with my blessings, your welfare. So O Lakshmi! As soon as Vipra said this, that parrot also attained liberation. Then the courtesan, leaving bad deeds, accepted good deeds and after taking bath regularly, started reciting the first chapter of Shri Gitaji, which also liberated her.

Such is the importance of the text of the first chapter of the Gita.
