भक्ति कथा
गुरु रविदास की महिमा सुनकर और पवित्र जीवन को देखकर बहुत से राजा-रानी उनके शिष्य बन गए थे। एक बार झाली नाम की रानी चित्तौड़ से गंगा स्नान के लिए काशी आई। उसने गुरु रविदास का नाम सुना तो दर्शन के लिए उनके आश्रम में गई। गुरु रविदास का उपदेश सुनकर उसका मन शांत हो गया।
रानी ने गुरु रविदास से प्रार्थना की कि मुझे अपनी शिष्या बना लीजिए। उन्होंने बार-बार रानी को मना किया कि मैं चमार हूँ और आप क्षत्रियवंशी हैं। आप किसी ब्राह्मण की शिष्या बन जाएँ। रानी झाली ने बहुत हठ किया और अपना संकल्प व्यक्त किया कि आपको ही गुरु बनाऊँगी। ऐसा किए बिना अन्न-जल ग्रहण नहीं करूँगी।
गुरु रविदास ने फिर कहा कि अपने से ऊँची जातिवाले का शिष्य होना चाहिए, तब झाली ने प्रार्थना की कि गुरु बनाने में जाति का कोई नियम नहीं है। केवल ब्रह्मज्ञानी गुरु का होना नियम है। जैसे शुकदेव स्वामी ने ब्राह्मण और संन्यासी होने पर भी क्षत्रिय और गृहस्थ राजा जनक को गुरु बनाया। झाली रानी को योग्य समझकर गुरु रविदास ने उसे अपनी शिष्या बना लिया।
कुछ दिनों के बाद गुरु से आज्ञा लेकर रानी चित्तौड़ लौट गई और अपने पति को सारा हाल सुनाया। रानी झाली के पति के मन में भी गुरु रविदास के प्रति श्रद्धा उत्पन्न हुई। रानी ने पति से अनुरोध किया कि वे गुरु रविदास को राजमहल में आमंत्रित कर सत्संग करवाएँ।
राणा कुंभा ने रानी की बात मानी और वजीरों को गुरु रविदास को बुलाने के लिए भेज दिया। गुरु रविदास को सम्मान सहित चित्तौड़ में बुलाया गया। चित्तौड़ में गुरु रविदास का प्रभावशाली सत्संग हुआ और सभी को भक्ति की प्रेरणा मिली। रानी ने इस अवसर पर भंडारा किया। दूर-दूर से ब्राह्मण समाज को आमंत्रित किया गया। यह भी कहा गया कि सबको एक-एक स्वर्ण की मोहर दक्षिणा में दी जाएगी। काफी लोग भंडारे में पहुँच गए। जब भंडारा तैयार हो गया तो पंक्तियों में सब लोग बैठ गए। उस समय जाति अभिमानी ब्राह्मणों ने सबको उकसाया कि चमार के चेले राजा-रानी का भोजन मत ग्रहण करो। पंक्तियों में से सभी ब्राह्मण उठकर खड़े हो गए। सबने कहा कि हम चमार के साथ भोजन नहीं करेंगे।
राणा कहे सुना रे भाई, मोरे तो मन इहै सुहाई।
करनी हीन सू मधिम सोई, करनी करे सो उत्तम होई।
उत्तिम मधिम करनी माहिं, मानव देह कहूँ उत्तिम नाहिं।
काम क्रोध लालच नौ द्वारा, ऐठी तन में सबै चमारा।
उत्तिम वही जिनूँ यो जीता, ब्राह्मण किने बालमीक कीता।
जाति-पाँति का नहीं अधिकारा, राम भजै सो उतरै पारा।
नाहिं कछु तुम्हारै सारै, उठी विप्र जाहू अपने द्वारै।
विप्र बहुरि मनि मंह दुषपावै, करोध करै रानी डरपावै।
तब विप्रों ने कहा पहले भोजन हम करेंगे। इसके पश्चात् जैसी आपकी मरजी हो वैसा करें। तब राणा ने कहा:
राणी कहयो नाहिं मन धीजै,
गुरु पहल तुम्ह कौ क्यूँ दीजै।
इस प्रकार बहुत वाद-विवाद होने लगा। तब गुरु रविदास ने एक शिष्य को भेजा और कहा–
हमरे नाहि हारु अरु जीति।
इन्हकी तुम राखो रसनीति।
मुझे हार-जीत से कोई मतलब नहीं है। जैसे इनकी रीति है, उसके अनुसार ही इनको भोजन करवा दो।
गुरु रविदास की आज्ञा पाकर भोजन परोसा गया। गुरु रविदास विराट रूप धारण कर एक-एक विप्र के साथ बैठकर भोजन करने लगे।
सबहिं कै संग जीमन बैठा, इनि वापै उनि वापै डीठा।
सबको अचिरज भयो तमासा, जेते विप्र तेते रविदासा।
जितने विप्र बैठकर भोजन कर रहे थे, गुरु रविदास ने अपने उतने ही शरीर धारण किए। यह देखकर जाति अभिमानी ब्राह्मणों का सिर शर्म से झुक गया।
सबहिन के मनि उपजी लाजा, साध सतायौ किया अकाजा।
जे वे कोप करे हम ऊपरि, तो अब ही जाहिं सकल जरि बरि।
हम अपराधी वो जन पूरा, उनके साहिब रहत हजूरा।
इहे संत हम एसा पापी, भगतन सौ परि एसी थापी।
साचै हरि साँचै हरि जना, यौ पश्चाताप कियौ ब्राह्मणा।
धनि-धनि साहिब तू बड़ा अस बड़े तुम्हारे दास।
जाति-पाँति कुल कछु नहीं ब्राह्मण भये उदास।
सब विप्रों ने आपस में विचार करके गुरु रविदास का शिष्यत्व ग्रहण कर लिया। गुरु रविदास ने विप्रों से कहा कि प्रभु की भक्ति करो। सिमरन और भक्ति के बिना सारा संसार शूद्र है। विप्र कहने लगे —
विप्र कहें तू गुरु हमारा अपनी तोरि जनेऊ डारा।
माथै हाथ देहु अब स्वामी, इस सेवग तुम अंतर जामी।
जाति पाँति पूछो मति कोई, हरि को भजे सो हरि कै होई।
Devotional Story
Many kings and queens became his disciples after hearing the glory of Guru Ravidas and seeing the holy life. Once Jhali, a queen named Jhali, came to Kashi from Chittor to bathe in the Ganges. When he heard the name of Guru Ravidas, he went to his ashram to see. Hearing the teachings of Guru Ravidas, his mind became calm.
The queen prayed to Guru Ravidas to make me her disciple. He repeatedly refused the queen that I am Chamar and you are Kshatriyavanshi. You become a disciple of a Brahmin. Rani Jhali persisted a lot and expressed her resolve that I will make you a guru. Without doing this, I will not take food and water.
Guru Ravidas again said that he should be a disciple of caste higher than himself, then Jhali prayed that there is no rule of caste in making Guru. Only the Brahmin Guru is the rule. Like Shukdev Swami made Kshatriya and householder king Janak a guru even after being a Brahmin and a monk. Considering Jhali Rani as worthy, Guru Ravidas made him his disciple.
After a few days, the queen returned to Chittor with orders from the Guru and narrated the whole situation to her husband. Rani Jhali’s husband also had reverence for Guru Ravidas. The queen requested the husband to invite Guru Ravidas to the palace and get satsang done.
Rana Kumbha obeyed the queen and sent the wazirs to call Guru Ravidas. Guru Ravidas was called to Chittor with honor. Guru Ravidas had an effective satsang in Chittor and everyone was inspired by devotion. The queen did a bhandara on the occasion. The Brahmin society was invited from far and wide. It was also said that everyone will be given one gold stamp in Dakshina. Many people reached Bhandare. When Bhandara was ready, everyone sat in the lines. At that time, caste arrogant Brahmins encouraged everyone not to consume the food of the disciples of Chamar. All the Brahmins of the lines stood up. Everyone said that we will not eat with Chamar.
Rana says listen to you brother, More Mana Ihai Suhai. Karni is inferior to Madhim, do it, so it is good. Utim Madhim Karna Mahin, I should say the human body. Working anger greed by nine, all in the body. Urba is the same, Jinu Yo, Brahmin Kin Balmik Keeta. Not more than caste, Ram Bhajai is so descended. Nahin Kachu Tumharai Sarai, woke up Vip Jahu. Vipra Bahuri Mani Manh Dushapavai, Karodha Kar Rani Dabhapavai. Then the Vipras said that we will eat first. After this, do as you have a will. Then Rana said:
Rani kahao nahin mana dhijai, Why did Guru Pahala you
Thus there was a lot of debate. Then Guru Ravidas sent a disciple and said- Hamre Nahi Haru Aru Jiti. You are ashes, Rakho Rasti. I have no meaning with defeat and victory. According to them, according to them, give them food.
Food was served after getting the permission of Guru Ravidas. Guru Ravidas took the form of a great form and sat with each Vipra and started eating food. Jeemon sat with Sabhin Kai, he returned back. Everyone is Achiraj Bhayo Tamasa, Jete Vipra Tete Ravidasa. The more Vipra was eating and eating, Guru Ravidas wore his body as much. Seeing this, the head of caste arrogant Brahmins bowed with shame.

All the Vipras consider them among themselves and took the discipleship of Guru Ravidas. Guru Ravidas told the Vipras to do devotion to the Lord. The whole world is Shudra without Simran and devotion. Vipra started saying – Say Vipra, you are our Guru, our own Janeu Dara. Mathai Hath Dehu is now Swami, this service you have a difference. Ask caste panti koi koi, Hari is devoured to Hari.
