मन को जीतने का तप

           एक ऋषि यति-मुनि एक समय घूमते-घूमते नदी के तट पर चल रहे थे। मुनि को मौज आई। हम भी आज नाव पर बैठकर नदी की सैर करें और प्रभु की प्रकृति के दृश्यों को देखें। चढ़ बैठे नाव को देखने के विचार से। मुनिवर नीचे के खाने में गये, जहाँ नाविक का सामान और निवास होता है। जाते ही उनकी दृष्टि एक कुमारी कन्या पर पड़ी, जो नाविक की पुत्री थी। कुमारी इतनी रुपवती थी कि मुनिवर विवश हो गये, उन्हें मूर्च्छा सी आ गई। देवी ने उनके मुख में पानी डाला तो होश आया।
           कुमारी ने पूछा मुनिवर ! क्या हो गया ?
           मुनि बोला देवी ! मैं तुम्हारे सौन्दर्य पर इतना मोहित हो गया कि मैं अपनी सुध-बुध भूल गया अब मेरा मन तुम्हारे बिना नहीं रह सकता। मेरी जीवन मृत्यु तुम्हारे आधीन है।
           कुमारी बोली आपका कथन सत्य है, परन्तु मैं तो नीच जाति की मछानी हूँ।
           मुनि–मुझमें यह सामर्थ्य है कि मेरे स्पर्श से तुम शुद्ध हो जाओगी।
           कुमारी पर अभी तो दिन है।

मुनि–‘मैं अभी रात कर दिखा सकता हूँ।
           कुमारी–‘फिर भी यह जल (नदी) है।
           मुनि–‘मैं आन की आन में इसे स्थल (रेत) बना सकता हूँ।’
           कुमारी–‘मैं तो अपने माता-पिता के आधीन हूँ। उनकी सम्मति तो नहीं होगी।’
           मुनि–‘मैं उनको शाप देकर अभी भस्म कर सकता हूँ।’
          कुमारी–‘मुनिवर ! जब परमात्मा ने आपको आपके जप, तप के प्रताप से इतनी सामर्थ्य और सिद्धि वरदान दीये है तो कितनी मूर्खता की बात है कि आप अपने जन्म जन्मान्तरों के तप को एक नीच काम करने और क्षणिक आनन्द में विनष्ट करने के लिए तैयार हो।
           ऋषिवर ! आपमें इतनी सामर्थ्य है कि जल को थल, दिन को रात बना सको पर यह सामर्थ्य नहीं कि मन को रोक सको।’
          मुनि ने इतना सुना ही था कि उसके ज्ञानचक्षु खुल गए। तत्काल देवी के चरणों में गिर पड़ा कि तुम मेरी गुरु हो, सम्भवतः यही न्यूनता थी जो मुझे नाव की सैर का बहाना बनाकर खींच लाई।

(१) रूप और काम बड़े-बड़े तपस्वियों को गिरा देता है।

(२) तपी-जती स्त्री रुप से बचें।

(३) कच्चे पक्के की परीक्षा तो संसार में होती है, जंगल में नहीं।

(४) जब अपनी भूल का भान हो जावे, तब हठ मत करो।

(५) जिन पर प्रभु की दया होती है, उनका साधन वे आप बनाते हैं।

इसी सन्देश को मनुस्मृति में बताया गया है-

इन्द्रियाणां विचरतां विषयेष्वपहारिषु।
संयमे यतनमातिष्ठेविद्वान यत्नेव वाजिनाम॥

जिस प्रकार से विद्वान सारथि घोड़ों को नियम में रखता है, उसी प्रकार हमको अपने मन तथा आत्मा को खोटे कामों में खींचने वाले विषयों में विचरती हुई इन्द्रियों को सब प्रकार से खींचने का प्रयत्न करना चाहिए।

A sage Yati-Muni was once walking on the banks of the river. Muni had fun. We also sit on a boat and visit the river today and look at the scenes of the nature of God. With the idea of looking at the boat sitting climbing. Munivar went to the down dinner, where sailor goods and residence. As soon as he left, his vision fell on a virgin girl, who was the daughter of a sailor. Kumari was so furious that Munivar was forced, she felt unconscious. When the goddess poured water in her face, she regained consciousness. Kumari asked Munivar! What happened ? Muni said goddess! I was so fascinated by your beauty that I forgot my care and now my mind cannot live without you. My life death is under you. Kumari said your statement is true, but I am a fish of low caste. Muni-Mujha has the ability that you will be pure with my touch. Kumari is still day.

Muni-‘I can show it right now. Kumari-‘Nevertheless it is water (river). Muni-‘I can make it a place (sand) in Aan Ki Aan.’ Kumari-‘I am under my parents. They will not have consent. ‘ Muni-‘I can curse them and consume them right now.’ Kumari-‘Munivar! When God has given you so much strength and accomplished boon from the glory of your chanting, penance, then it is a matter of stupidity that you are ready to do a low work of your birth births and to destroy the momentary joy. Rishivar! You have so much strength that you can make water at night, but do not have the ability to stop the mind. ‘ The sage had heard so much that his knowledge was opened. Immediately he fell at the feet of the goddess that you were my guru, probably this was the deficiency that pulled me out of the excuse of a boat.

(1) The form and work drops big ascetics.

(2) Avoid feminine and female.

(3) Raw Pucca is examined in the world, not in the forest.

(4) When your mistake is known, do not stubbornly.

(5) You make the means of those who have mercy from God.

This message is described in Manusmriti-

In the objects of the senses, the objects of the movements of the senses. A learned man should practice striving in restraint in his own efforts.

Just as the scholar keeps the charioteer horses under the rule, similarly we should try to pull the senses wandering in subjects that draw our mind and soul in khotas.
