गायत्री महामंत्र
‘ॐ भूर्भुवः स्वः तत्सवितुर्वरेण्यं भर्गो देवस्य धीमहि। धियो यो न: प्रचोदयात्।।’
यही सच है कि इस दुनिया में जो सबसे बड़ा देवता दिखाई पड़ता है, उसका नाम माता है।
‘मातृदेवोभव, पितृदेवोभव, आचार्यदेवोभव।’
माता की बराबरी किसी से भी नहीं की जा सकती है। वह नौ महीने बच्चे को अपने पेट में रखती है, अपने रक्त से हमारा पालन-पोषण अपने पेट में करती है। जन्म लेने के बाद अपने लाल खून को सफेद दूध में परिवर्तित करके हमें पिला देती है और हमारे शरीर का पोषण करके हमें बड़ा बना देती है। माता का प्यार, दुलार, दूध तथा पोषण जिनको नहीं मिलता है, वह अपूर्ण होता है।
एक और माँ है जिसके बारे में हम नहीं जानते हैं। जो शरीर का नहीं, बल्कि आत्मा का पोषण करती है। उसका नाम कामधेनु है। यह स्वर्ग में रहती है, जिसका दूध पीकर देवता दिव्य बन जाते हैं, सुन्दर बन जाते हैं, अजर-अमर बन जाते हैं, दूसरों की सेवा करने में समर्थ होते हैं। स्वयं तृप्त रहते हैं।
सुना है कि कामधेनु स्वर्ग में रहती है। स्वर्ग में तो मैं गया नहीं, परन्तु एक कामधेनु की बावत हम बतलाना चाहते हैं कि जो स्वर्ग में लोगों को फायदा पहुँचा सकती है, वह धरती के लोगों को भी फायदा पहुँचा सकती है। उसका नाम गायत्री है। उसी का नाम ऋतम्भरा प्रज्ञा है, दूरदर्शिता, विवेकशीलता, विचारशीलता भी है, जिसको हम भारतीय संस्कृति की आत्मा कह सकते हैं।
बीज छोटा-सा होता है, परन्तु फलों का, फूलों का, सभी का गुण उस छोटे-से बीज में सन्निहित होता है। छोटे-से शुक्राणु में बाप, दादा का पीढ़ियों का गुण समाया रहता है। इसी तरह जो भी इस संसार का दिव्य ज्ञान-विज्ञान है, वह इस छोटे-से गायत्री मंत्र के अन्दर समाविष्ट है। २४ अक्षरों वाले इस गायत्री मंत्र बीज में विद्यमान है।
ब्रह्माजी ने जब सृष्टि के निर्माण की योजना बनायी तो उन्होंने सोचा कि ज्ञान एवं विज्ञान के बिना इस सृष्टि का निर्माण कैसे हो सकता है? उन दोनों को प्राप्त करने के लिये कमल के फूल पर बैठकर बतलाते हैं कि उन्होंने हजार वर्ष तक तप किया। वह गायत्री मंत्र की उपासना एवं साधना थी। जो सफलता एवं सामर्थ्य उन्हें प्राप्त हुई वह गायत्री मंत्र की थी जो उन्होंने प्राप्त किया था। ब्रह्माजी ने उस गायत्री मंत्र को चार टुकड़ों में बाँटकर चार वेदों का निर्माण कर दिया।
‘ॐ भूर्भुवः स्वः’ से ऋग्वेद बनाया गया।
‘तत्सवितुर्वरेण्यं’ से यजुर्वेद बनाया गया।
‘भर्गो देवस्य धीमहि’ से सामवेद बनाया गया।
‘धियो यो नः प्रचोदयात्’ से अथर्ववेद बनाया गया।
वे वेद जो हमारे सारे के सारे धर्म एवं संस्कृति के बीज हैं। इन चारों के चारों वेदों में वेदमाता गायत्री का ही वर्णन है। वेद उनसे ही पनपे हैं, उसी गायत्री मंत्र का जिसका हम प्रचार करते हैं। जिसके लिये हमने अपना जीवन समर्पित कर दिया। वह शानदार बीज मंत्र है।
ब्रह्माजी ने तप करके इसके द्वारा सृष्टि को बनाया। इसका तत्त्वदर्शन एवं व्याख्यान सर्वसाधारण की समझ में नहीं आयेगा, यह समझकर ऋषियों ने गायत्री मंत्र के २४ अक्षरों से भगवान् के अवतारों की तुलना की। एक-एक अवतार- गायत्री मंत्र के एक-एक अक्षर की व्याख्या है।
गायत्री मंत्र का स्वरूप-सामर्थ्य क्या है? उसका जीवन में उपयोग किस परिस्थिति में हम किस तरह करें? यह जानकारी देने के लिये ऋषियों ने २४ अवतारों की रचना की तथा २४ पुराणों का निर्माण किया।
भगवान् दत्तात्रेय के २४ गुरु थे। यह गायत्री मंत्र के २४ अक्षरों से ही उनको ज्ञान मिला था। महर्षि बाल्मीकि की बाल्मीकि रामायण में २४००० श्लोक हैं, उसमें उन्होंने गायत्री मंत्र के एक-एक अक्षर का सम्पुट लगाकर व्याख्या की है। श्रीमद्भागवत् में भी इसी गायत्री मंत्र के सम्पुट लगा करके श्लोक बनाये गये। ‘परम धीमहि’ यानि कि इसमें ‘धीमहि’ की ही व्याख्या है। देवी भागवत् पूर्ण रूप से गायत्री मंत्र की ही व्याख्या है।
भारतीय संस्कृति के अन्तर्गत आपको जो भी दिखाई पड़ता है, वह वास्तव में विशुद्ध रूप से गायत्री मंत्र का ही वर्णन है। यह बहुत शानदार है। ऋषियों ने इसकी महत्ता-उपयोगिता समझी तथा उन्होंने सभी लोगों से कहा कि आप सब भूल जाना, परन्तु इस माता को मत भूलना। माँ तो हमारा नित्य कल्याण ही करती है बशर्ते माँ को हम किसी तरह न भूलें।

‘Om Bhurbhuvah Svah Tatsavitur Varenya Bhargo Devasya Dhimmah. Dhiyo yo na: prachodyat.
It is true that the name of the biggest deity that is visible in this world is Mother.
‘Be the god of mothers, be the gods of fathers, be the gods of teachers.
Mother cannot be compared to anyone. She carries the child in her womb for nine months, nourishes us with her blood in her womb. After taking birth she converts her red blood into white milk and feeds us and nourishes our body and makes us big. Those who do not get mother’s love, caress, milk and nutrition are incomplete.
There is another mother we don’t know about. Which nourishes not the body, but the soul. His name is Kamdhenu. It lives in heaven, by drinking whose milk the deities become divine, become beautiful, become immortal, are able to serve others. He himself remains satisfied.
It is heard that Kamdhenu lives in heaven. I have not gone to heaven, but we want to tell about a Kamdhenu that the one who can benefit the people in heaven, can also benefit the people of the earth. Her name is Gayatri. His name is Ritambhara Pragya, foresight, prudence, thoughtfulness, which we can call the soul of Indian culture.
The seed is small, but the qualities of fruits, flowers, all are embedded in that small seed. The qualities of father and grandfather for generations are present in a small sperm. Similarly, whatever is the divine knowledge and science of this world, it is included inside this small Gayatri Mantra. This Gayatri mantra with 24 syllables is present in the seed.
When Brahmaji planned the creation of the universe, he thought that without knowledge and science, how can this universe be created? To get both of them, sitting on a lotus flower, they tell that they did penance for a thousand years. It was the worship and meditation of Gayatri Mantra. The success and power that he got was due to the Gayatri Mantra that he got. Brahmaji divided that Gayatri Mantra into four pieces and created four Vedas.
The Rigveda was created from ‘Om Bhurbhuvah Svah’.
From ‘tatsaviturvarenyam’ the Yajurveda was created.
Samveda was made from ‘Bhargo Devasya Dhimahi’.
‘Dhiyo yo nah prachodyat’ created the Atharva Veda.
Those Vedas which are the seeds of all our religions and cultures. There is description of Vedmata Gayatri in all the four Vedas. Vedas have flourished from him only, the same Gayatri Mantra that we preach. For which we dedicated our life. That is the wonderful Beej Mantra.
Brahmaji did penance and created the universe through it. Realizing that its philosophy and lectures would not be understood by the general public, the sages compared the incarnations of God with the 24 letters of the Gayatri Mantra. Each incarnation is the explanation of each syllable of the Gayatri Mantra.
What is the nature and power of Gayatri Mantra? How should we use it in life, under what circumstances? To give this information, the sages created 24 incarnations and created 24 Puranas.
Lord Dattatreya had 24 gurus. He got this knowledge only from the 24 letters of the Gayatri Mantra. There are 24000 verses in Maharishi Balmiki’s Valmiki Ramayana, in which he has explained each letter of the Gayatri Mantra with an envelope. Even in Shrimad Bhagwat, Shlokas were made by applying the cover of this Gayatri Mantra. ‘Param Dhimahi’ means ‘Dhimahi’ is explained in it only. Devi Bhagwat is completely an explanation of Gayatri Mantra.
Whatever you see under Indian culture, it is actually purely a description of Gayatri Mantra. This is so wonderful. The sages understood its importance-usefulness and they told all the people that you may forget everything, but do not forget this mother. Mother does our daily welfare, provided we do not forget the mother in any way.
