झूठ बोलनेका परिणाम
एक चरवाहा किसी वनमें गायें चराया करता था। चरागाहके निकटके वनमें बाघका निवास था। चरवाहा खेल-खेलमें ही कभी-कभी-बाघ आया, बाघ आया कहकर उच्च स्वरमें चिल्लाया करता था।
आसपास के लोग बाघ आनेकी बात सुनकर बड़ी व्यग्रताके साथ अपने हथियारोंसे लैस होकर उसकी सहायता करनेको वहाँ आ जाते। चरवाहा उन्हें देख खिलखिलाकर हँस पड़ता। आये हुए मुँह लेकर लौट जाते। लोग अपना सा
आखिरकार एक दिन सचमुच ही बाघने आकर उसकी गायोंपर आक्रमण कर दिया। तब चरवाहा अत्यन्त व्याकुल होकर ‘बाघ आया, बाघ आया’- कहकर जोर जोरसे चिल्लाने लगा। परंतु उस दिन उसकी सहायता करने को कोई भी नहीं आया। सबने सोचा-दुष्ट चरवाहा पहले के समान ही हम लोगोंके साथ हँसी-मजाक कर रहा है।
बाघने अपने इच्छानुसार गायोंको मार डाला और अन्तमें चरवाहेका भी वध करके चल दिया। मूर्ख चरवाहा मरते समय बड़बड़ा रहा था-सर्वदा झूठ बोलनेवालेके सत्यपर भी कोई विश्वास नहीं करता। साथ लड़ना असम्भव जानकर और दूसरा कोई चारा न देखकर, साँस रोक करके मुर्देके समान धरतीपर लोट गया। उसने पहले सुन रखा था कि भालू मेरे हुए आदमीको हानि नहीं पहुँचाता।
भालूने आकर उसके नाक, कान, मुख, आँख तथा सीनेकी परीक्षा की और उसे मरा हुआ समझकर चला गया। भालूके चले जानेके बाद पहला मित्र पेड़से नीचे उतरा। उसने दूसरे मित्रसे जाकर पूछा ‘भाई, भालू तुम्हें क्या कह गया? मैंने देखा कि. वह बड़ी देरतक तुम्हारे कानसे अपना मुख लगाये हुए था।’
दूसरा मित्र बोला-‘ भालू मुझे यही कह गया कि जो मित्र संकटके समय साथ छोड़कर भाग जाता है, उसके साथ फिर कभी बातचीत मत करना।’
consequences of lying
A cowherd used to graze cows in a forest. The tiger lived in the forest near the pasture. The shepherd used to shout in a loud voice saying, “The tiger has come, the tiger has come”.
Hearing about the arrival of the tiger, the people around would come there with great anxiety to help him, armed with their weapons. The shepherd would have laughed heartily on seeing them. Having come, they would have returned with their mouths full. people like themselves
Finally one day the tiger really came and attacked his cows. Then the cowherd became extremely distraught and started shouting loudly saying ‘The tiger has come, the tiger has come’. But that day no one came to help him. Everyone thought – the evil shepherd is laughing and joking with us as before.
The tiger killed the cows as per its wish and finally went away after killing the shepherd too. The foolish herdsman was muttering at the time of his death – no one believes even the truth of one who always lies. Knowing it impossible to fight together and seeing no other option, he returned to the earth like a dead man holding his breath. He had heard earlier that the bear does not harm my man.
The bear came and examined his nose, ears, mouth, eyes and chest and went away thinking him dead. After the bear left, the first friend got down from the tree. He went to another friend and asked, ‘Brother, what did the bear say to you? I saw that. He was keeping his mouth close to your ear for a long time.’
The second friend said – ‘The bear told me that the friend who runs away leaving you in times of trouble, never talk to him again.’
