A caravan was crossing a desert. There was complete lack of water on the way. In the end, some water was left with them. Now the passengers started distributing it among themselves according to the measure. The type of measurement was that a small pebble was put in a cup. When the water reached the top of the pebble, it was considered a person’s fair share. That water also used to be shared only by its chief people.
When water was distributed on the first day, then the first measure was given to Ka’b-Ibn-Mammah. He just wanted to take it when his eyes fell on a man of Namir caste who was looking at him with great attention. He said to the water distributor, ‘Brother! Please give my share to this person.’ The man drank the water and Ka’b ibn-Mammah had to be left without water. The division of water started again on the second day. And that man of that famous caste again started looking there very carefully. ‘Kaab’ again got his share for that person.
But now when the caravan started moving, then Kab was not even strong enough to sit on the camel somehow. He lay down in the desert itself. Everyone saw that if someone stayed here now, everyone would be destroyed, so no one dared to help him and in fear of the carnivorous beasts, kept walking by putting some clothes on him.
In fact, Kaab was an ideal of compassion, who gave his life. But he could not muster the courage to scorn kindness. -Ja0 Sh0
