श्री राधारमण जी का 481 प्राकट्य उत्सव दिवस
श्री गोपाल भट्ट श्री चैतन्य महाप्रभु जी के बड़े कृपापात्र थे । उन्हें गण्डकी नदी में स्नान करते समय एक श्रीदामोदर-लक्षणयुक्त विलक्षण शालिग्राम मिला था, जिसे वे वृंदावन ले आए और केशी घाट के पास उस विग्रह को प्रतिष्ठित कर नित्य बड़े प्रेम से उसकी सेवा करते थे । गोपाल भट्ट जी जब भी रूप गोस्वामी को उनके ठाकुर ‘श्री गोविंद देव जी’ को, सनातन गोस्वामी को ‘श्री मदन मोहन जी’ को और मधु पंडित को ‘श्री गोपीनाथ जी’ को लाड़ लड़ाते देखते तो उनके मन में एक कसक उठती कि काश मैं भी अपने शालिग्राम जी को लाड़ लड़ा पाता । उनका सुंदर श्रृंगार करता, नूतन वस्त्र पहराता, शयन कराता ।
मेरे प्रभु के न तो हाथ हैं, न ही श्रीचरण, न ही ग्रीवा है, न ही कटिप्रदेश । ये तो एकदम गोलमटोल हैं । गोलमटोल का क्या श्रृंगार करुँ ? रोज पीला चंदन पोत देता हूँ तो कढ़ी-पकौड़े की तरह दिखाई पड़ते हैं ।
मेरे तो समझ ही नहीं आता इनको शयन कैसे कराऊं ? किधर सिर करुं, किधर पैर करुं ? मुझे तो यह भी नही पता कि इनका मुख किधर है जहां से ये खाते हैं, किधर से देखते हैं ? निराश होकर उनके मुख से एक पद निकला—
झूलौ झूलौ मेरे गण्डकि नन्दन ।
जैसे कढ़ी पकोड़ी फोरयो ऐसे लिपट्यो चन्दन ।।
हाथ न पांव नैन नहिं नासा ध्यानहिं होत आनन्दन ।
जालन्धर अरु वृन्दावल्लभ करत कोटि हौं वन्दन ।।
एक दिन एक सेठ वृंदावन आया । वह वृंदावन के सभी मंदिरों में भगवान के श्रीविग्रहों के लिए वस्त्र और आभूषण दे रहा था । जब वह श्री गोपाल भट्ट के ठाकुर जी के लिए वस्त्राभूषण देने लगा तो गोपाल भट्ट जी दु:खी होकर कहने लगे—‘यदि मेरे प्रभु साकार विग्रह रूप में होते तो मैं भी इनको सुन्दर वस्त्र धारण कराता, मुख पर चंदन से सुन्दर चित्ररचना करता ! सेठ द्वारा ठाकुर जी के लिए दी जाने वाले वस्त्राभूषणों को लेने से इंकार करता हूँ तो हो सकता है कि सेठ जी गुस्सा हो जाएं, उनको दु:ख पहुंचेगा और यदि ले लूं तो ठाकुर जी को धारण कैसे कराऊंगा ?’
भक्त के दु:ख को देख कर शालिग्राम शिला से रात्रि में भगवान मूर्ति रूप में प्रकट हो गए; उनका अर्चावतार हो गया । प्रात:काल जैसे ही श्री गोपाल भट्ट जी की दृष्टि शालिग्राम जी पर गई तो देखते हैं कि नीलकमल और नीलमणि के समान श्री राधारमण जी प्रेममयी चितवन के साथ हाथ में वंशी लिए हुए त्रिभंगी मुद्रा में खड़े हैं और गोपाल भट्ट की ओर कटाक्ष करते हुए कह रहे हैं—‘अब तो मुझे वस्त्र, आभूषण धारण करा, मेरा सुंदर श्रृंगार कर ।’
भट्टजी ने श्रीविग्रह को तरह-तरह के वस्त्र और अलंकारों से सजा कर झूले में झुलाया और उनका नामकरण हुआ ‘श्रीराधारमण देव’ । भट्टजी का भाव-विभोर मन गा उठा—
श्रीराधारमण हमारे मीत ।
ललित त्रिभंगी श्याम सलोने, कटि पहिरे पट पीत ।।
मुरलीधर मन हरन छबीले, छके प्रिया की पीत ।
गुन मंजरी विदित नागरवर, जानत रस की रीत ।।
राधारमण जी का यह बारह अंगुल का श्रीविग्रह पीछे से शालिग्राम जैसा ही है । उनका मुखकमल श्री गोविंद देव जी का है, कटि भाग श्री गोपीनाथ जी का है और चरण भाग श्री मदन मोहन जी का है । इसी कारण श्री राधारमण जी ‘त्रिभंग’ कहलाते हैं अर्थात् श्री राधारमण जी के स्वरूप में तीन ठाकुरों का एक साथ दर्शन होता है
भट्ट जी ने जब ठाकुर के इस रूप का वर्णन अन्य गोस्वामियों से किया तो उनकी खुशी का ठिकाना न रहा ।
छैल जो छबीला, सब रंग में रंगीला,
बड़ा चित्त का अड़ीला, कहूं देवताओं से न्यारा है ।
माल गले सोहै, नाक-मोती सेत सोहै,
कान कुंडल मन मौहे, मुकुट सिर धारा है ।।
दुष्ट जन मारे, संतजन रखवारे, ‘ताज’
चित्त में निहारे, प्रेम प्रीति करन वारा है ।
नन्दजू का प्यारा, जिन कंस को पछारा,
वह वृन्दावनवारा, राधारमन हमारा है ।।
ठाकुर श्री राधारमण जी का प्राकट्य संवत् १५९९ को वैशाख मास की पूर्णिमा तिथि को हुआ था । भट्ट जी ने पूरे विधि-विधान के साथ ठाकुर जी का नाम रखा—‘श्री राधारमण’ ।

Shri Gopal Bhatt was greatly favored by Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. While bathing in the river Gandaki, he had found a wonderful Shaligram with Sridamodar characteristics, which he brought to Vrindavan and worshiped it daily with great love by enshrining that deity near Keshi Ghat. Whenever Gopal Bhatt would see Roop Goswami pampering his Thakur ‘Shri Govind Dev Ji’, Sanatan Goswami pampering ‘Shri Madan Mohan Ji’ and Madhu Pandit pampering ‘Shri Gopinath Ji’, he would wish that I too could have pampered my Shaligram ji. He would do beautiful makeup, wear new clothes, make him sleep.
My Lord has neither hands, nor feet, nor neck, nor waist. They are very round. What makeup should I do for chubby? If I give yellow sandalwood every day, then they look like Kadhi-Pakoda.
I don’t understand how to make them sleep? Where should I head, where should I step? I don’t even know where their mouth is, from where they eat, from where they see? Frustrated, a post came out of his mouth-
Swing swing my Gandaki Nandan. Sandalwood was wrapped like this. No hands, no feet, no eyes, no nose, no meditation, no joy. Millions of salutations to Jalandhar and Vrindavallabh.
One day a Seth came to Vrindavan. He was giving clothes and ornaments to the Deities of the Lord in all the temples of Vrindavan. When he started giving Vastra Bhushan to Shri Gopal Bhatt’s Thakur ji, Gopal Bhatt ji started saying in sorrow – ‘If my Lord was in the form of a corporeal deity, I would have made him wear beautiful clothes, painted beautiful pictures with sandalwood on his face! If I refuse to accept the clothes given by Seth for Thakur ji, it is possible that Seth ji will get angry, he will feel sad and if I take it, how will I get Thakur ji to wear it?
Seeing the sorrow of the devotee, the Lord appeared in the form of an idol in the night from the Shaligram rock; He became archavatar. In the morning, as soon as Shri Gopal Bhatt ji’s vision went to Shaligram ji, he saw that Shri Radharaman ji, like Neelkamal and Sapphire, was standing in Tribhangi Mudra with Premmayi Chitvan in his hand and sarcastically said towards Gopal Bhatt. Have been – ‘Now make me wear clothes, ornaments, make me beautiful.’
Bhattji decorated the idol with various clothes and ornaments and swung it in a swing and named it ‘Shriradharaman Dev’. Bhattji’s emotional heart started singing-
Shriradharaman is our friend. Lalit Tribhangi Shyam Salone, Kati Pihere Pat Peet. Muralidhar lost his mind, lost his love. Gun Manjari Vidit Nagarwar, Janat Ras Ki Rit.
This twelve finger idol of Radharaman ji is similar to Shaligram from behind. His lotus face belongs to Shri Govind Dev ji, the waist part belongs to Shri Gopinath ji and the feet part belongs to Shri Madan Mohan ji. For this reason Shri Radharaman ji is called ‘Tribhang’ i.e. three Thakurs are seen together in the form of Shri Radharaman ji.
When Bhatt ji described this form of Thakur to other Goswamis, their happiness knew no bounds.
The peel that is beautiful, colorful in all colors, Strong minded, can I say that he is different from the gods. The goods sleep around the neck, the nose-pearl set sleeps, Ear coil mind mouth, crown head stream. Kill the wicked, protect the saints, the ‘Taj’ Look in the mind, love is the one who does love. Beloved of Nandju, whom Kansa chased, That Vrindavanvara, Radharman is ours.
Thakur Shri Radharaman ji appeared in Samvat 1599 on the full moon date of Vaishakh month. Bhatt ji kept Thakur ji’s name with complete law-‘Shri Radharaman’.
