अच्छा पैसा ही अच्छे काम में लगता है”

          अबुल अब्बास ईश्वर-विश्वासी त्यागी महात्मा थे; वे किसी से भीख नहीं माँगते, टोपी सीकर अपना गुजारा करते। एक टोपी की कीमत सिर्फ दो पैसे लेते। इनमें से, जो याचक पहले मिलता, उसे एक पैसा दे देते। बचे बरत नहीं लिये जाते, तब तक नयी टोपी नहीं सीते। भजन ही करते रहते।
          इनका एक धनी शिष्य था, उसके पास धर्मादे की निकाली हुई कुछ रकम थी। उसने एक दिन पूछा, ‘भगवन् ! मैं किसको दान करूँ ?’ महात्मा ने कहा- “जिसे सुपात्र समझो, उसी को दान करो।’ शिष्य ने रास्ते में एक गरीब अन्धे को देखा और उसे सुपात्र समझकर एक सोने की मोहर दे दी। दूसरे दिन उसी रास्ते से शिष्य फिर निकला। पहले दिनवाला अन्धा दूसरे अन्धे से कह रहा था कि ‘कल एक आदमी ने मुझको एक सोने की मोहर दी थी, मैंने उससे खूब शराब पी और रात को अमुक वेश्या के यहाँ गया।”
          शिष्य को यह सुनकर बड़ा खेद हुआ। उसने महात्मा के पास जाकर सारी बात कही। महात्मा ने उसने हाथ में एक पैसा देकर बोले- ‘जा, जो सबसे पहले मिले उसी को पैसा दे देना और फिर देखना कि वह क्या करता है। यह, पैसा टोपी सीकर कमाया हुआ था।
          शिष्य पैसा लेकर निकला, उसे एक मनुष्य मिला; उसने उसको पैसा दे दिया और उसके पीछे-पीछे चलना शुरू किया। वह मनुष्य एक निर्जन स्थान में गया और उसने अपने कपड़ों में छिपाये हुए एक मरे पक्षी को निकालकर फेंक दिया। शिष्य ने उससे पूछा कि ‘तुमने मरे हुए पक्षी को कपड़ों में क्यों छिपाया था और अब क्यों निकालकर फेंक दिया?’ उसने कहा-आज सात दिन से मेरे कुटुम्ब को दाना-पानी नहीं मिला। भीख माँगना मुझे पसन्द नहीं; आज इस जगह मरे पक्षी को पड़ा देख मैंने लाचार होकर अपनी और परिवार की भूख मिटाने के लिये इसे उठा लिया था और घर लेकर जा रहा था। आपने मुझे बिना माँगे ही पैसा दे दिया, इसलिये अब मुझे इस मरे पक्षी की जरूरत नहीं रही। अतएव जहाँ से  उठाया था, वही लाकर डाल दिया।
          शिष्य को उसकी बात सुनकर बड़ा अचरज हुआ। उसने महात्मा के पास जाकर सारा वृतांत कहा। महात्मा बोले-‘यह स्पष्ट है कि तुमने दुराचारियों के साथ मिलकर अन्यायपूर्वक धन कमाया होगा, इसी से उस धन का दान दुराचारी अन्धे को दिया गया और उसने उससे सुरापान और वेश्यागमन किया मेरे न्यायपूर्वक कमाये हुए एक पैसे ने एक कुटुम्ब को निषिद्ध आहार से बचा लिया। ऐसा होना स्वाभाविक ही है। अच्छा पैसा ही अच्छे काम में लगता है।”
                             

Abul Abbas was a God-believing ascetic; They do not beg from anyone, they earn their living by sewing caps. The cost of a cap would be taken only two paise. Out of these, he would have given one paisa to the beggar who got it first. The leftovers are not used, till then the new cap is not stitched. He used to do hymns. He had a rich disciple, he had some amount withdrawn from charity. He asked one day, ‘ God! To whom should I donate? Mahatma said- “Donate to whomever you consider deserving.” The disciple saw a poor blind man on the way and considering him worthy, gave him a gold stamp. On the second day, the disciple came out again on the same path. I drank a lot from her and went to a certain prostitute’s place at night.” The disciple was very sorry to hear this. He went to the Mahatma and told everything. Mahatma gave a penny in his hand and said – ‘ Go, give the money to the first person you meet and then see what he does. This money was earned by cap-seeker. The disciple went out with the money, he found a man; He gave her the money and started following her. The man went to a deserted place and took out a dead bird hidden in his clothes and threw it away. The disciple asked him, ‘Why did you hide the dead bird in your clothes and now why did you throw it out?’ He said – Today my family did not get food and water for seven days. I do not like begging; Seeing the dead bird lying at this place today, being helpless, I picked it up and was taking it home to satisfy my family’s hunger. You gave me money without asking, so now I don’t need this dead bird. Therefore, from where it was picked up, brought it there and dropped it. The disciple was very surprised to hear his words. He went to the Mahatma and told the whole story. Mahatma said – ‘It is clear that you must have earned money unjustly by collaborating with miscreants, that’s why that money was donated to the miscreant blind and he indulged in drinking and prostitution. My justly earned money saved a family from forbidden food. took. It is natural for this to happen. Good money goes to good work.”
