ईश्वरके विधानपर विश्वास

एक अंग्रेज अफसर अपनी नवविवाहिता पत्नीके साथ जहाजमें सवार होकर समुद्र यात्रा कर रहा था। रास्तेमें जोरसे तूफान आया। मुसाफिर घबरा उठे, पर वह अंग्रेज जरा भी नहीं घबराया। उसकी नयी पत्नी भी व्याकुल हो गयी थी। उसने पूछा- आप निश्चिन्त कैसे बैठे हैं?’ पत्नीकी बात सुनकर पतिने म्यानसे तलवार खींचकर धीरेसे पत्नीके सिरपर रख दी और हँसकर पूछा कि ‘तुम डरती हो या नहीं ?’ पत्नीने कहा – ‘मेरी बातका जवाब न देकर यह क्या खेलकर रहे हैं? आपके हाथमें तलवार हो और मैं डरूँ, यह कैसी बात? आप क्या मेरे वैरी हैं, आप तो मुझको प्राणोंसे भी अधिक चाहते हैं।’ इसपर अफसरने कहा ‘साध्वी! जैसे मेरे हाथमें तलवार है वैसे ही भगवान्‌के हाथमें यह तूफान है। जैसे तुम मुझे अपना सुहृद् समझकर नहीं डरती, वैसे ही मैं भी भगवान्‌को अपना परम सुहृद् समझकर नहीं डरता। भगवान्का अपने जीवोंपर अगाध प्रेम है, वे वही करेंगे जो वास्तवमें हमारे लिये कल्याणकारी होगा। फिर डर किस बातका ?’

An English officer was traveling on the sea in a ship with his newly married wife. There was a strong storm on the way. The passengers got scared, but that Englishman didn’t get scared at all. His new wife was also distraught. He asked – how are you sitting relaxed?’ After listening to the wife, the husband pulled the sword from the scabbard and gently placed it on the wife’s head and smilingly asked, ‘Are you afraid or not?’ The wife said – ‘ What are you playing by not answering my words? If you have a sword in your hand and I am afraid, what is this? Are you my enemy, you love me more than life.’ On this the officer said ‘Sadhvi! Just like I have a sword in my hands, similarly this storm is in the hands of God. Just as you are not afraid considering me as your best friend, similarly I am also not afraid considering God as my best friend. God has immense love for his creatures, he will do what is really beneficial for us. Then why fear?
