एकताका सूत्र है- सहनशीलता
जापानके राजा यामोता धर्मात्मा तथा उदार हृदयके शासक थे। वे प्रजाजनोंके सुख-दुःखमें हमेशा सहभागी बननेका प्रयास करते थे। उनका मन्त्री ओचोआन भी सम संयमी एवं सन्तोषी था। एक बार राजा यामोताको ता चला कि मन्त्रीके दादाके सभी भाइयोंकी सन्तानें एक साथ प्रेमपूर्वक रहती हैं। इन दिनों मन्त्री परिवारके मुखियाका दायित्व निभा रहे हैं। इस विशाल परिवारमें कभी किसी बातको लेकर विवाद नहीं होता। राजा इस योवृद्ध मन्त्रीका बहुत आदर करते थे। वे मन्त्रीकी सरलता, सात्त्विकता एवं कर्तव्यपरायणतासे प्रभावित थे।
एक दिन उन्होंने सोचा, इस आदर्श परिवारकी एकता एवं सौहार्दका रहस्य जानना चाहिये। वे अचानक मन्त्रीके घर जा पहुँचे। मन्त्रीने राजाका विनम्रतासे स्वागत किया। अपने भाइयों, पुत्र-पौत्रों, बहनों-बेटियों एवं बहुओंसे उनका परिचय कराया। राजाने स्वयं देखा कि परिवारके कई सौ सदस्योंमें अनूठा प्रेम झलक रहा है। सभीके चेहरोंपर सन्तोष था ।
राजाने विनम्रतासे पूछा-‘मैं यह जानना चाहता हूँ कि इतने विशाल परिवारमें ऐसा अनूठा प्रेम-सौहार्द बनाये रखनेका आपका मूल मन्त्र क्या है ?’
मन्त्रीने कहा-‘राजन् ! सन्तोष और सहनशीलता ऐसे अनूठे सूत्र हैं, जो विशाल परिवारको एक साथ रखने में समर्थ होते हैं। धर्मने हमें सादगी, सरलता और सन्तोषका जीवन जीनेकी प्रेरणा दी है। सहनशीलता राग-द्वेष एवं कलहको पास नहीं फटकने देती।’
मन्त्रीके इन गुणोंके समक्ष राजा नतमस्तक हो उठे।
The formula of unity is tolerance
King Yamato of Japan was a pious and generous-hearted ruler. He always tried to be a participant in the happiness and sorrow of the people. His minister Ochoan was also equally restrained and satisfied. Once King Yamato came to know that the children of all the brothers of the minister’s grandfather live together lovingly. These days the minister is fulfilling the responsibility of the head of the family. There is never a dispute about anything in this huge family. The king used to respect this old minister very much. He was impressed by the simplicity, honesty and dutifulness of the minister.
One day he thought, the secret of unity and harmony of this ideal family should be known. Suddenly they reached the minister’s house. The minister politely welcomed the king. Introduced him to his brothers, sons-grandsons, sisters-daughters and daughters-in-law. The king himself saw that unique love was being reflected in several hundred members of the family. There was satisfaction on everyone’s face.
The king humbly asked – ‘I want to know what is your basic mantra to maintain such unique love and harmony in such a huge family?’
The minister said – ‘ Rajan! Contentment and tolerance are such unique threads that are capable of keeping a large family together. Religion has inspired us to live a life of simplicity, simplicity and contentment. Tolerance does not allow attachment-hatred and discord to come near.
The king bowed down before these qualities of the minister.
