माधुर्यका रहस्य- केवल संग्रह मत करो
पथिकने सरितासे पूछा, ‘सरिते! तू इतनी छोटी है, किंतु तेरा जल कितना मधुर तथा तृप्तिकारक है। और वह सागर इतना विशाल है, परन्तु उसका जल खारा है, इसका आखिर क्या रहस्य है ?’ वेगवती सरिताको किसीकी बात सुननेकी फुरसत ही कहाँ थी। सरपट दौड़ते-हाँफते उसने इतना मात्र कहा, ‘सागरसे ही जाकर पूछो।’
क्षितिजतक विस्तृत और गर्जन-तर्जन करनेवाले सागरके पास पथिक गया और उसने उससे वही प्रश्न किया। सागर बोला, ‘पथिक, सुनो ध्यानसे। सरिता एक हाथसे लेती है, दूसरे हाथसे देती है। वह अपने पास एक पलके लिये भी कुछ नहीं रखती। दूसरोंको कुछ देनेके लिये ही वह दिन-रात दौड़ती रहती है, किंतु मैं सबसे केवल लेता हूँ, देता तनिक भी नहीं। यही कारण है कि मेरा संचित जल खारा है।’
पथिकने समझ लिया कि जो एक हाथसे लेता है और दूसरे हाथसे बाँट देता है, उसीके जीवनमें माधुर्य रहता है। संग्रह करनेवाले मनुष्यका जीवन नीरस बनकर रह जाता है। [ डॉ. श्रीकेशवानन्दजी ममगाई ]
The secret of melody – don’t just collect
The traveler asked Sarita, ‘ Sarita! You are so small, but your water is so sweet and satisfying. And that ocean is so vast, but its water is salty, what is the secret behind it?’ Vegwati Sarita had no time to listen to anyone. While galloping, he simply said, ‘Go and ask the ocean itself.’
The wanderer went to the roaring ocean that stretched out to the horizon and asked him the same question. Sagar said, ‘Wanderer, listen carefully. Sarita takes with one hand, gives with the other. She doesn’t keep anything with her even for a moment. She runs day and night just to give something to others, but I only take from everyone, I don’t give even a little. This is the reason why my accumulated water is salty.
